Chapter 516: Chapter 355: Mysterious Underwater World
Since he was carrying an oxygen cylinder this time, Sean Knight wasn’t in a rush, and he slowly descended while observing the creatures around him.
Initially, Sean thought that the underground space lacked light, so even if there was an ecosystem, it would be fragile and have few creatures.
However, the current situation was quite different from what he had imagined.
When Sean first entered the space, the commotion scared the nearby small animals away, making them avoid him.
As the water calmed down, Sean found the nearby creatures returning to their leisurely swimming, moving slowly within the space.
Moreover, Sean noticed that most of the creatures had almost completely degraded vision-wise, with some not even having pupils in their eyes, making their eyes appear white.
However, every single creature looked quite different from those outside, making Sean think that a biologist would be amazed at their existence!
Nevertheless, Sean had no intention of disturbing these creatures. He was merely curious, and after taking a look, continued his descent.
He wanted to see if there were more sacrificial implements and other parts of the boy’s body underwater.
Although the energy in Sean’s body was relatively abundant, he was well aware that there weren’t many things containing energy in the world – at least much less than gold.
Such items would be less in number once he obtained one. Who knows when the energy in his body might run out?
Although energy could be replenished by cultivation, it was much too slow!
It was better to keep these items within reach!
Suppressing his curiosity of the creatures, Sean slowly descended to the bottom.
The further down he went, the more creatures he encountered. Eventually, he decided to find a jar, catch some creatures and take them outside, either to keep or give to Joanna.
The further down he went, the more creatures and larger the plants he encountered. Some plants swayed with the flow of the water like seaweed, while others resembled large clumps of hair and looked somewhat terrifying.
There were also some coral-like plants that were colorful and beautiful, which surprised Sean – how could there be such beautiful creatures in this lightless underwater environment?
He carefully avoided the hair-like and colorful coral-like plants and finally reached the "ground" of the underwater space.
There was a thick layer of silt accumulated here, making the entire underground space appear like a fortune bag, with the bottom being a flat surface.
Of course, this was not a closed space, but one with a water exit. The exit was on the side of the cavern wall, located at the upper two-thirds of the space. In other words, if the water level of the space did not reach two-thirds, the water would not flow out.
The space seemed somewhat larger than a football field, and after observing everything inside, Sean had a feeling.
It was a bit like an ornamental fish tank.
He and the creatures in it were like the fish in the fish tank, put on display for people to watch.
This ridiculous thought flashed through his mind, and Sean started scanning the area beneath him with Sky Eye.
As he expected, there were many items below.
Within half a meter’s depth into the silt, he found a broken copper stone axe with beautiful patterns – clearly another sacrificial implement.
Sean dug out the stone axe and felt the bit of energy it contained, which was equivalent to the energy of 100,000 icy jadeite.
Gathering it, Sean continued scanning.
He found an assortment of items: bronze ware, silverware, goldware. Surprisingly, the one containing the most energy was a piece of Stone Age stone ware – a stone spear.
When he dug it out, the wooden handle of the spear had already decayed, leaving only the spearhead.
But even this spearhead contained more energy than all his previous finds combined.
Sean’s Sky Eye revealed that the stone spear was more than 3,000 years old, a genuine antique, perhaps from the Stone Age.
Despite its age, the spearhead was still incredibly sharp. Although its energy couldn’t compare to the scepters he had found in the forest, it contained much more energy than the golden human figurines.
However, the energy within the spearhead was mainly focused on destructive power. Sean wasn’t sure if absorbing it would affect his personality.
Putting away the spearhead, Sean continued his search.
He found a golden shield, a golden helmet, a silver belt, and a broken bronze basin...
Sean felt like he was picking mushrooms on the plains, collecting treasures here.
Suddenly, he sensed something and turned to look upward in the back.
He saw a dark shadow slowly swimming by – it seemed like a big fish.
With Sky Eye activated, it was indeed a large fish, appearing quite ancient, possibly a lungfish.
Sean felt somewhat guilty towards his biology teacher, as he had forgotten such creatures.
The fish, over a meter long, didn’t seem interested in Sean or perhaps hadn’t noticed him, and swam away.
Sean thought it would be best to be cautious; he slowed down and released his senses. He didn’t want to be ambushed in this environment.
If he were to be attacked here, no one could save him.
Sean collected some more items, eventually reaching the central position of the underground space.
At this point, the items were becoming denser. In a small area of just a dozen square meters, he found seven or eight items.
