Chapter 515: Chapter 354: The Enemy is Here with a Hunting Gun_2
But another one had disappeared.
Sean Knight quickly shot one of them again, who in the back and had taken two bullets—it was evident that he wouldn’t survive.
However, Sean’s seemingly cruel but more humane action put him in danger!
"Bang, bang, bang!"
Three short burst shots, and the bullets swept towards the big tree where Sean was hiding!
Although Sean was protected by thick tree branches in front of him, one of the bullets still penetrated a branch over ten centimeters thick and flew past his face!
Sean Knight acted decisively, somersaulting down from the tree and lying down at the tree’s roots!
Douglas Cooper immediately counterattacked, buying Sean an opportunity!
Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington had also roughly figured out their opponents’ positions by now. Their pistols continuously fired, suppressing the other side’s firepower!
However, the position chosen by the mercenary was very ingenious, and he kept adjusting his direction. Only when the enemy’s magazine was empty did Elijah and Lincoln two close in on him, signaling for him to throw away his gun!
The mercenary reluctantly threw his gun aside, then suddenly shouted:
"Bellamy Lang, shoot!"
He quickly moved, dodging Elijah’s and Lincoln’s gun muzzles while drawing his own pistol!
"Bang, bang, bang!"
"Bang, bang, bang, bang!"
"Bang!"
Before he could even shoot, Elijah and Lincoln quickly adjusted their gun muzzles—one of them turned him into a sieve, and the other aimed his gun at Bellamy, who was trembling in the bushes, and fired a few shots!
Meanwhile, Douglas’s sniper rifle up in the distant tree had also shot a bullet into Bellamy’s head!
As the gunshots died down, the battle ended.
Sean Knight, carrying a sniper rifle and a pistol, approached.
Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington were clearing the battlefield, although there wasn’t much to clean up. Other than the one mercenary who was still alive, the other five had ceased to breathe.
"Boss, you don’t need to come over here, it’s disgusting," Elijah yelled, "We can handle it."
"It’s fine, I’ve killed people before," Sean chuckled and walked over anyway. He knew that overseas, experiences like this might not happen often, but they do occur from time to time.
Are you afraid?
That only makes you weak.
All the equipment had been collected into a pile. Lincoln crouched down and carefully checked the injured mercenary, then stood up and said:
"It’s hopeless."
But the mercenary still hoped to be saved, mumbling in a low voice:
"Help me... help..."
Unfortunately, after calling for help twice more, there were no signs of life.
"Let’s bury him," Sean suggested. "It seems that this guy might have come for revenge." He kicked the corpse of Bellamy on the ground, "But he didn’t expect to meet his match."
The four of them worked together to dig a large hole, and they buried the corpses and equipment in it.
They then flattened the ground and made sure it wouldn’t be dug up by any wild animals before walking back with their guns.
Douglas even playfully picked a wild tea flower and stuck it into his rifle’s muzzle, showing it off to everyone with a laugh:
"Look, romance on the battlefield, I can do it, too!"
"Screw you, you’re just imitating," Elijah laughed and cursed, his expression gradually relaxing.
After all, killing people is not a pleasant thing, but the life-or-death battlefield isn’t a place for excessive kindness, either.
"After this, no one should disturb our treasure hunt," Sean shifted the topic, "I think we should find some good stuff in the future. This time, every one of you should be able to share at least five hundred thousand dollars."
"Oh my God!" Douglas exclaimed, "Boss, is that real? It’s... beyond my imagination!"
Sean chuckled and said, "It’s expected."
He recalled his brother Oscar Knight’s suggestion.
If he had been foolish and let his cousin come, what would his cousin have done encountering such a situation?
Perhaps they would have all lost their lives here.
The mercenaries, especially that team leader, were undoubtedly experienced guys. Their last desperate counterattack—if it had been on a frontal battlefield, even with Sky Eye, they might not have escaped death.
So, five hundred thousand dollars wasn’t too much.
When they got back to the camp, Sean Knight said:
"Today’s a free day, Douglas, let’s go catch some fish!"
"Sounds great!" Douglas excitedly put away his gun. "I’ve been thinking about it ever since I finished shooting. With the water receding, there must be stranded fish!"
Then came the leisure time. Sean Knight and Douglas actually caught seven or eight big fish.
They also found some stranded small fish, which Sean Knight simply scooped up and threw back into the lake.
According to his reasoning:
"Anyway, this whole area is mine, I can always eat these fish when they grow up."
By now, the lake water had receded by more than a meter, and the lake surface had shrunk by almost half.
Sean Knight guessed that in two more days, the lake would probably return to its original size.
At that point, could they start the next step?
Sean Knight’s idea was good, but it would take time to implement.
They didn’t go diving that day, and neither did they the next day.
After Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings and the others discussed, although they could roughly guess that Bellamy Lang was here for revenge, it seemed unlikely that anyone else would come.
However, just to be safe, they waited another day.
That day, the helicopter circled again and even landed at their original campsite.
Two people got out of the helicopter, looked around and seemed to make some contact using a satellite phone or radio.
In the end, the helicopter left.
No one came afterwards.
Another day passed, and the lake surface finally shrank to its original size, and the bright sunshine dried the ground nearby. Sean Knight and the others decided to dive into the lake.
"I’ll go down by myself," Sean Knight said, "You guys might not be able to find anything. Anyway, I have good luck, so if there’s really something, I can come up by myself."
Elijah and the others didn’t have any objections. After all, when it came to treasure hunting, they admitted they weren’t very good at it. Leaving the main finding to Sean Knight was enough.
Next, Sean Knight changed into diving equipment and dived into the lake.
After the water surface calmed down, Douglas suddenly said:
"Do you guys think our boss made the lake water suddenly disappear?"
"I guess so," said Elijah after thinking about it. "Our boss has some abilities, and they are quite powerful..."
"I think so too," said Lincoln Harrington.
"Lincoln, I feel like you’ve been talking more than before!" Douglas suddenly laughed, "This is much better. In the past, you were always cold-faced, and it was too hard to look at!"
"Get lost!" Lincoln turned around, "I’ll go for a walk over there, maybe I can catch a fish to make grilled fish for dinner tonight!"
"Wait for me, I’m coming too!" Douglas hurriedly followed.
After Sean Knight dived in, he headed straight for the water entry.
Sure enough, he found that the water was hardly dropping anymore, and the surface was quite calm.
The water flow from the nearby water exit was not strong, and the inflow and outflow were almost balanced.
Due to the water flow bringing in silt, the water entry was smaller than before, and the hole was not obvious. Some aquatic grass had been rolled over it, making it difficult to see that this was a watermouth.
Sean Knight moved some stones to completely stop the outflow. After a while, the inflow also stopped.
He pulled away the aquatic grass and saw that a significant portion of it actually grew nearby.
No wonder, no wonder!
Sean Knight laughed, pushed aside the water grass, and dived down.
The water entry tunnel was not as complex and much wider, making it more convenient for him to proceed.
Sean Knight thought to himself that it was a good thing he didn’t have claustrophobia; otherwise, diving would be more troublesome.
He didn’t rush to dive all the way down at once and stopped halfway for a moment.
With Sky Eye always on, Sean looked down.
At least several tens of meters below the water entrance, Sean Knight was surprised to find that there was actually its own ecosystem here - plenty of plants growing from the bottom, long, pale green, even white and colorless plants.
Transparent fish swam among them, as well as some unrecognizable animals.
Sean Knight was curious and finally decided to dive down.
He didn’t see that in this underwater space below, a massive shadow floated in the distance...
