Chapter 514: Chapter 354: The Enemy is Here with a Hunting Gun
Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington became uneasy when they saw Bellamy Lang and the others starting to circle the lake, realizing that their current path would lead them straight to the campground.
Although Douglas Cooper had already notified Sean Knight, once these people find the tents, their vigilance would heighten, and a sneak attack would become difficult.
"Let’s do it!" Elijah Hastings said to Lincoln Harrington.
"We only have two pistols, might be tough," Harrington shook his head, "But it’s our only choice now."
They hastened their pace and quickly closed the distance to Lang and his men.
Guns have a better usability than rifles in forests, but they needed to reach the effective range.
Douglas Cooper and Sean Knight lay low on their tree-top, each with a sniper rifle, taking aim at the approaching enemies.
Through their scopes, observing the enemies’ poses and alert gazes, Sean Knight was convinced that if they discovered his position, the first thing they’d do was to shoot, disabling him first before talking.
Thus, there was no need to hold back!
Originally, Douglas Cooper suggested a detour, but Knight understood that if they rendezvous with Elijah and Lincoln, Douglas might be able to contribute, but Sean himself probably could not.
With the element of surprise on his side and a sniper rifle, he could definitely take out at least one person, putting the enemy under pressure.
By then, it would create an opportunity for Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington at the back!
Rather than taking a detour to discuss, it was better to shoot now!
Sean Knight had absolute faith that upon hearing a gunshot, Elijah and Lincoln would know what to do next!
This wasn’t about being in sync, but trust!
He discussed with Douglas, deciding that he would shoot the left while Douglas would shoot the right.
Through his scope, he lock onto the big-bearded Caucasian mercenary. Sean slowly moved the barrel, following the method Lincoln had taught him. As his finger began to pre-press the trigger unconsciously, Sean’s reticle remained centered on his enemy.
Douglas Cooper was ready to fire earlier, but he waited for Sean to shoot first. He was afraid that if he shot first, an alert enemy would dodge and hide, leaving Sean no shot.
Sean didn’t wait for Douglas. After the trigger pre-pressed into position, the firing pin ejected, striking the primer of the bullet, igniting the propellant, and releasing a huge amount of gas, which pushed the bullet out with a crisp sound!
However, at the moment the sound was heard, a bullet had already hit the big beard’s forehead, ripping off the top of his skull!
Almost at the same time Douglas pulled the trigger!
His overeager action caused the aim to deviate slightly, hitting the chest of another mercenary, who was knocked down and twitching on the ground.
Though not yet dead, he had already lost his combat ability!
"Ambush! Take cover and counterattack!"
The team leader of the five men shouted as he ducked behind a large tree, squatting down vigilantly.
Bellamy Lang hid behind a bush at the first opportunity. Moments ago, the big-bearded man had been shot in the head, spattering his face with blood and brain matter, which scared him badly!
His initial plan to capture and kill those who cost him a million dollars had flown out the window – all he wanted now was to go home!
But no one would give him that chance!
Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington immediately understood the situation after hearing the gunshots. They knew that Douglas and Sean were sniping and quickened their pace again.
The remaining three mercenaries were already firing in the direction of the gunshots with their automatic firearms, denying their opponents any opportunity to snipe them again.
In addition, these three veterans were well-versed in short burst fire, leaving no gaps.
Though the bullets’ accuracy was lacking, Douglas and Sean were indeed suppressed, unable to fire again.
However, neither panicked. The first move had been made, and the enemy had retaliated. Now it was down to Elijah and Lincoln.
Sean waited.
He hoped the next target would be Lang himself!
He had no qualms dealing with this kind of person!
"You go left, I’ll go right!" Elijah stopped and whispered to Lincoln.
Although the gunshots were loud, Hastings knew Harrington could hear him.
Now their senses were far more acute than usual.
They raised their pistols, trying to steady their breathing. Elijah hoped he could strike with one shot!
*Bang!*
*Bang! Bang!*
After the first bullet splattered a spray of blood on the back of a mercenary, Hastings confidently pulled the trigger several more times, suppressing the enemy!
Lincoln Harrington did the same!
Two mercenaries immediately lost their combat abilities. However, to Hastings and Harrington’s surprise, a third, who they didn’t know was the mercenaries’ team leader, dashed to the side and disappeared from their sight!
Immediately after, a short burst of fire from his assault rifle swept towards them!
Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington had to interrupt their shooting and quickly dodge!
By this time, Douglas Cooper and Sean Knight already knew that Elijah and Lincoln had taken their shots and immediately raised their rifles, searching for the enemy.
The first thing they saw were two struggling mercenaries, likely taken down by Elijah and Lincoln.
