Chapter 500: Chapter 347: The Cruel Man - Sean Knight

Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings and others climbed the tree, observing the other side with a telescope.

Around Swan Lake, there were six or seven tents set up.

People were coming in and out, and their voices were not loud.

There was a hovercraft by the lake, and another boat in the center of the lake, with ropes and cables going down from the boat, still swaying.

About ten minutes later, a diver emerged from the water, said a few words to the people on the boat, and then dived back into the water.

Although Swan Lake is not as big as it was when its water level suddenly rose, it is still several times larger than when Sean first saw it.

Some trees were still half-submerged in the water, and the leaves on the lower half had long been nibbled away by fish, leaving only the bare, gnawed branches.

Even so, fish would occasionally jump up to bite the leaves above the water.

"I really didn’t expect it to be Native Americans!"

Elijah Hastings whispered next to him.

Sean didn’t respond; he saw a familiar face among these people - it was Martin!

Martin was the guide sent by Brown to help Sean find the treasure, and he was also watching Sean.

Later, Sean wanted to bring Martin over to his side, but Martin didn’t seem interested, so he gave up on that idea.

Now, seeing Martin unexpectedly, Sean was both sighing and curious.

How did Martin join these Native Americans?

Regardless of the situation, Sean must prevent the treasure from falling into their hands.

"Boss, should we fire a few shots and scare them away?"

This was the voice of Douglas Cooper.

Douglas Cooper was on another tree 500 meters away from Sean.

"Not yet. Figure out the situation. Number of people, equipment, weapons, boats... etc." Sean spoke softly through the walkie-talkie.

Not only could Douglas Cooper hear it, but Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington could hear it as well.

Sean also calculated the situation at the treasure hunt camp.

There were guards with guns on the edge of the forest several dozen meters from the lake.

Those boats and tents turned into data, allowing Sean to analyze rationally how to drive these people away.

One hour later, Sean’s voice came through the walkie-talkie:

"Retreat, go back to the hollow place."

Douglas Cooper, who had been holding his gun, was somewhat unwilling but finally put it away, muttering to himself:

"You’ve all fought, but I haven’t fought properly yet. This is unfair..."

Even though he was complaining about the unfairness, Douglas Cooper didn’t break the rules and climbed down the tree, sneaking back to the hollow place.

Twenty minutes later, the four of them regrouped at the hollow place.

"There are 22 people, including five security personnel, three cooks, and the rest are staff." Elijah Hastings reported while speaking:

"There are seven tents, including five as big as the squad tents in our army, and two as big as platoon-size tents.

In the small tents were people, while the large ones were for storing supplies and holding meetings. From visual observation, they have already dug up some things, and stacked outside were stone statues and the like. It’s unclear what’s inside the tents."

Lincoln Harrington continued:

"Judging from the dried grass remnants at the edge of the tents, they have been here for over half a month."

"Some of their supplies were carried here by people, and some were replenished by helicopters. I saw the existence of a helicopter landing pad to the east of the tent area - there were traces of a helicopter landing."

This was Douglas Cooper’s discovery.

Sean was impressed with them.

He had observed those points himself but didn’t discover them or didn’t know what they were specifically due to his lack of experience.

"So now we’re pretty much certain that almost as soon as Brown died, these people moved in here and started the salvage operation." Sean summarized after listening to their reports:

"No matter what they’ve salvaged so far, starting tonight, what we need to do is try our best to prevent their success and drive them out of Swan Lake!"

"No problem!" Douglas Cooper was most excited. "Let’s eat and drink well now, and act tonight. I can explode their hovercraft with one shot!"

"Isn’t it that easy?" Lincoln Harrington pushed him. "As soon as you shoot, the other party will know."

"Anyway, we’re taking action tonight. Even if they’re slow to react, they’ll know by tomorrow." Douglas Cooper didn’t care. "As long as we destroy most of their equipment, they’ll be unable to do anything. If that doesn’t work, it’s not like we can’t hurt people."

Sean nodded but didn’t say anything.

As night fell, Sean and his team rested in the trees to hide their tracks.

In the latter half of the night, the four of them got up and started moving towards the lakeside.

It was pitch black at the treasure hunting camp, and everyone was resting except for one night watchman.

The watchman guarding a bonfire was dozing off, obviously used to such things.

In the distance, two boats were docked by the lake, a hovercraft and a workboat.

They had initially planned to launch a night raid and blow up their camp to scare them.

But seeing the timing was so good now, the four of them simply decided that Douglas Cooper and Lincoln Harrington would go into the lake and sink the boat, while Sean and Elijah Hastings would take out the sentry.

They split up, and Sean and Elijah crept up to the sentry.

Perhaps nothing had happened in this half of the month, so the sentry was relaxed. Elijah arrived behind the sentry and knocked him out with a palm strike to the back of his ear.
