Chapter 495: Chapter 344: Struggle with Local Forces_2

Actually, there was no need to ask. Seeing the car door unlocking tool in the person’s hand, Sean Knight and his friends knew exactly what he was up to.

How audacious?

What were they waiting for? Douglas Cooper let loose on him with punches and kicks!

The thin man screamed melodramatically, which could be heard from eight streets away!

Sean thought this man’s overacting was suspicious. There surely must be people backing him.

Indeed, not even a minute later, two groups of people hurried over from both directions.

Sean glanced over and saw a group of seven or eight white youths on one side, behaving boisterously like typical hoodlums.

On the other side were two policemen with badges.

"Stop!" shouted both the hoodlums and the police simultaneously.

Reluctantly, Douglas stopped and took a step back.

The car thief, scrambling and crawling, made his way into the middle of the hoodlums, crying towards their boss:

"Boss Jerry, I didn’t do anything. I was just checking out their car when they started beating me..."

Jerry Sullivan chuckled:

"Don’t worry, I’ll make them apologize and compensate you!"

Sean glanced at Jerry but ignored him. Elijah Hastings took a step forward, facing the two policemen.

The badge wearing policeman asked with a frown:

"Why did you hit him?"

"He was trying to steal our car." Elijah pointed to the tools on the ground and said, "There’s the evidence."

"Having items doesn’t mean he stole anything, right?" Jerry sarcastically replied, "Who saw Klaus stealing a car? Is there any witness?"

Sean looked up and saw no cameras around.

And the bystanders had long fled, no one dared to come forward as a witness.

"If you can’t present evidence, I will penalize you according to the law," the Sheriff said in a businesslike manner.

"Right! They attacked my brother; they must apologize and compensate!" Jerry followed loudly.

The sheriff glanced at him but didn’t stop his utterances.

The hoodlums sported triumphant expressions. Klaus even winked at the person next to him who was supporting him, obviously feeling he had hit the jackpot.

"We do, have evidence that is." Sean finally interrupted, surprising both the sheriff and Jerry.

Sean opened the car door and slowly explained:

"Our vehicle is equipped with a 360-degree surround recorder. There are cameras all around the car, even when the car is stopped, the cameras are still on.

So, if we check the surveillance recordings it will be clear as to what this gentleman..."

He pointed to Klaus:

"What Mr. Klaus was actually doing..."

Upon hearing this Klaus turned deathly pale even before Sean had finished speaking!

Who would know this car had such a device on it?

Jerry’s face also turned sour!

It was his idea that Klaus should steal the car in the first place, how could he not know?

It was clear now that they had planed to swindle these people, but they didn’t expect their vehicle to be so high-tech.

Upon hearing Sean’s words, the sheriff’s expression didn’t improve, he even frowned for a moment, but then said:

"In that case, we should check it out... Klaus, anything to say?"

"I...I..."

Klaus hesitated, not knowing whether or not to bluff anymore. He cast a desperate look at Jerry.

Jerry knew it was up to him to make a decision at this moment.

Seeing that Elijah was about to check the records on their side, he finally clenched his teeth and said:

"This... might be a misunderstanding... Maybe Klaus was just trying to... play a prank on these folks."

Elijah had already activated the car’s surveillance system and then looked towards Sean.

"I also hope this is a misunderstanding." Sean nodded, "Let this be the end of that. I don’t want anything else to follow."

"Of course, we people of this town are hospitable, there sure won’t be any more incidents, right?" the sheriff seemed relieved.

The poise of four Chinese guys gave him the impression they were tough nuts. If Jerry’s gang really started a fight, despite having the home turf advantage, he had no doubt they would probably get crushed.

Now that Jerry had backed down, this was the best outcome.

Sean Knight didn’t want trouble in the Small Town.

At least not openly.

Jerry left with his people, the Sheriff nodded at Sean Knight approving his attitude, and then also left.

"Boss, is that all?" Douglas Cooper obviously felt unsatisfied.

"Don’t worry, I saw resentment in Klaus and Jerry’s eyes. They will undoubtedly make moves at night."

Sean Knight smirked:

"A leopard can’t change its spots. So, I think tonight will be a good opportunity to take action. Right now, because of this incident, we are safe at least until bedtime. Let’s go grab some food, rest a bit, and wait for the night."

Some locals were occasionally pointing at them, which they ignored.

Most Chinese who come to the Beautiful Country stay in the coastal cities along the east and west coasts. There aren’t many in the inside land.

"I think we got these strange looks because we’ve played Jerry’s gang."

At Aunt Lily’s Dining Hall, they found a table and sat down. Douglas Cooper said seriously.

"I heard you guys had Jerry’s bunch beaten?" A fat woman came over, holding a plate of meat pies in hand, "This is for you guys, you’re righteous!"

The group was stunned, Aunt Lily laughed and turned to leave.

"Looks like those hoodlums aren’t popular in town." Douglas Cooper picked up a meat pie and tasted it, "Hey, it tastes good!"

"You guys eat, I’ll order some more." Elijah Hastings was getting up, at this point, a waitress in a mini skirt walked over, holding a menu in her hand she asked:

"What can I get for you?"

"Meat pies, three more. Also, what else do you have here?"

"There’s also fried fish fillet..." The waitress listed food items.

Elijah Hastings ordered a few items and looked at Sean Knight. Sean Knight nodded.

The waitress noted down the order and left.

Perhaps due to their strong attitude and what they had done in Small Town, plus the novelty of the group of Chinese, a lot of people came to see them inside and outside the dining hall.

But no one provoked.

After they ate, paid the bill, they got up and left.

It was already dark, and the small town was quiet with hardly anyone on the streets. Occasionally, there were a few vagrants whose gaze turned numb at the sight of them. There was no unusual action.

From the distance, someone was watching the four of them entering a hotel and then pulled out a mobile phone to make a call.

It was late at night, clouds drifted past covering the moonlight.

Two shadows stealthily approached the entrance of the hotel.

A dog from an unknown home heard the noise and barked twice in the courtyard. It was then scolded by its master. Feeling wronged, it whimpered a few times, and eventually lay beside its kennel, staying silent.

One shadow looked around while the other one was crouched below a car, taking out tools to pry the car window, and also fidgeting with the car door.

Then he found out the car door was already open.

He was thrilled and was about to crawl inside immediately.

The shadow nearby whispered:

"Success? Hurry up!"

Then, he saw his accomplice slowly stepping back.

He was puzzled, leaned over to look, and asked while looking:

"What happened, Klaus? Why aren’t you entering? We should quickly steal the car... such a high-end car can be sold for tens of thousands!"

Then he saw a surprising scene!

Someone was in the car and was pointing a gun at Klaus!

This made him so frightened that he turned around to run!

Just then, the back car door suddenly opened, causing him to trip over and face-plant on the ground. Before he could get up, someone stepped on him!

"Smack!"

At the front seat of the car, Lincoln Harrington who had a gun in hand gave Klaus a slap on the back of the ear. Klaus immediately collapsed to the ground.

His accomplice met the same fate.

"Alright, let’s tie them up, hang them on the street lamp in the middle of the town, to make an example of them!"

Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper, each having one in tow, quietly walked towards the lamppost in the center of the town.
