Chapter 481: Chapter 338: Sharing a Piece of the Pie

Sean Knight received the news about Brown’s assassination ten minutes after it happened.

"Are you sure?" Sean still couldn’t quite believe it, considering his previous preparations took so long, he thought this assassination would also take several days to succeed when the time was ripe.

But unexpectedly, he received the news on the same day.

"It’s confirmed," Douglas Cooper said, "Lincoln Harrington fired two shots from above. I was in another building at the time and saw through the telescope, both shots hit Brown, one in the back, went through his chest. The other hit the back of his neck, almost splitting it in half."

With such injuries, even if God Almighty were to arrive, he couldn’t be saved, could he?

"Alright, you guys come back to the villa first. Don’t go out during these two days," Sean said, "Let Lincoln bring the gun, I’ll take care of it later."

Douglas responded and hung up the phone.

Half an hour later, the two of them returned to the villa, Lincoln handed the gun over to Sean.

"Thanks to the three of you this time," Sean took the gun upstairs, first put it into the spatial realm, and when he came back, he had three bags in his hand.

"So, this is the bonus." Sean handed each person a bag, "One hundred thousand dollars, no strings attached. Feel free to spend it."

"The boss is generous!" Douglas laughed as he accepted the money, "Our operation wrapped up pretty smoothly. After Brown died, the morale of their bodyguards seemed to plummet. They didn’t seriously search, and we didn’t have any tail on our way back."

"Those guys probably figured it would be difficult even if they found the murderer later, so they simply didn’t bother looking," Sean speculated.

"But we still can’t let our guard down." Elijah Hastings said, "After you all left yesterday, there were two high-level attacks at night. If the boss hadn’t detected it in advance, the consequences would be unthinkable!"

After hearing this, both Douglas Cooper and Lincoln Harrington were surprised, and quickly asked for details. Elijah explained the situation.

"Don’t worry, this matter should be almost over. Once Brown is dead, no one will trouble us later." Sean tried to reassure them.

However, clearly the three of them didn’t think so. They all moved into the villa the following days, all on the second floor, taking turns at night watch.

The second day, Robert made a phone call:

"Sean, I think you should have already received the news. Or rather, you should be the creator of this news."

Sean feigned ignorance:

"Mr. Robert, I don’t know what you’re talking about, can you make it clearer?"

"Of course." Robert didn’t continue to question Sean’s denial, instead he said: "We have found out. The person who ambushed you and schemed against your staff was the big businessman Brown.

He had this idea because of the conflicts that arose during your treasure hunting. According to the information my people got, Brown once told his friends that you are a treasure thief, and you stole a golden treasure from him worth several billion dollars!"

"Nonsense!" Sean immediately denied, "He is slandering! Although I was indeed hired by him to help him find the treasure.

However, after I helped him find the treasure, he not only refused to give me the agreed thirty percent, but he also wanted to kill me to keep me quiet! I was lucky, otherwise I would be a skeleton by now!"

"But Brown didn’t say that." Robert continued to explain, "That’s why he wanted to kidnap you and get information about the gold treasure from you. This is the reason he turned your staff and tried to kidnap you... and now he’s dead."

This was the first time Sean heard about Brown’s death from someone else’s mouth, although he was prepared, Sean still joyfully exclaimed:

"Really? That’s great... oh, although my joy seems inhumane, but this matter is indeed worth celebrating."

"As long as you’re happy." Robert said, "After Brown’s death, there was a problem with his property distribution, his family almost came to blows over it.

Because Brown’s death was very sudden, he didn’t leave a will, so the property might be distributed according to the law. Next week, some of Brown’s fixed assets will be auctioned..."

"Auction?" Sean suddenly remembered Swan Lake, he immediately asked:

"Robert, can you get an invitation to the auction?"

"I can try and get it. Why, are you interested?"

"Of course." Sean said, "Even though Brown held a grudge against me, I don’t mind giving him a hand after his death. Doing good deeds to others is doing good to one’s self!"

Hearing Sean say this, Robert found it quite peculiar.

"Alright, I’ll get the invitation tomorrow, and then we’ll meet somewhere. Oh, about this information fee..."

"It’s yours," Sean interrupted him, "If there’s any left, consider it as payment for the invitation."

"Alright, thank you." Robert finished, and hung up.

Sean told Elijah and the others about his attempt to get the auction invitation.

"Could this be a trap?" Elijah speculated cautiously.

"It probably won’t be," Douglas analysed, "With Brown’s sudden death, such property disputes should be quite normal amongst the Americans, right? Additionally, there should be an announcement about this auction, we can check it out and will know."

Sean nodded, thinking that this matter was worth doing.
