Chapter 468: Chapter 331: Originally a Simple Matter
When the yacht exploded, Takeuchi Meiko was not on board, which saved her life.
However, Nobita Ichinann and others were not so lucky.
The yacht was not far from the port, and almost every ship nearby witnessed the scene - the huge flames, loud noises, fragments of the boat flying high in the air, and pieces of human bodies falling back down.
Takeuchi Meiko was at the pier, negotiating with the authorities - she had applied for a permit, but salvage was still not an easy task.
They showed her photos, hoping she could explain the salvaged items they found.
Although Takeuchi Meiko felt annoyed by this, she had no better options when dealing with these authorities.
It was at this moment when her yacht exploded.
Takeuchi Meiko realized it was her yacht, and her mind went blank at that moment.
One of the authorities joked:
"Who did the ship owner offend to make it this big? With an explosion of this size, several kilograms of explosives must have been used, right?"
Takeuchi Meiko was so angry she almost vomited blood!
First, she frantically ran to the pier looking for a boat to rescue her friends, but no one paid attention to her - she looked like a madwoman.
Later, Takeuchi Meiko just sat on the pier, staring in the direction of the boat, not moving for a long time.
In reality, she knew there wasn’t much left to save.
The boat had been shattered into pieces, and anyone who was blasted that high up and fell back down was surely dead.
She had lost everything, and even if there was any rescue attempts, it would only be to save a few debris.
There were people at the port watching the excitement and some trying to help.
When they found out it was a Japanese yacht and belonged to the person who was rumored to have obtained the first batch of treasure, their feelings became more complicated.
Most people thought it must be either because the Japanese ship had blocked someone’s financial path, or it was an act of revenge.
The incident became massive. When Sean Knight and his team arrived at the next port, the television news at the hotel was covering this event.
The police were already involved, but they had not found a suitable target.
Takeuchi Meiko couldn’t provide any valuable clues, and she didn’t give up Sean Knight’s crew. There was no way to know if she thought it was too late or if she had other thoughts.
Sean Knight and his team didn’t think much about it and simply decided to rest.
Douglas Cooper went out to make a phone call.
Recent events had connected Douglas Cooper to a network of people in Manila and Jakarta, which meant he at least had someone to ask for information when needed.
During breakfast the next morning, Douglas Cooper said:
"I think we can leave Caprio Parker alone for now."
"Why?" asked Elijah Hastings while drinking seafood porridge.
"Manila’s authorities have started to investigate Caprio’s background, saying he had illegally salvaged a lot of stuff without paying taxes. Now they’re forcing him to pay taxes -"
"Could that stuff be the stuff in the photos we took?"
"It should be," said Douglas Cooper, eating a small roll and sharing his intel, "I heard that the tax payment alone is up to a million US dollars, Caprio Parker is already selling his villa. Some of his subordinates have also left, sounds quite miserable."
"Serves him right!" said Lincoln Harrington while eating fried rice, "If he was an honest and decent person, he wouldn’t have done those things, and we wouldn’t have picked on him! It’s his fault!"
No one in the room had sympathy for him.
This guy was obviously not a good person. Thinking about the things he had done, they were not things an average partner would do.
So, since he was a bad guy, it was more satisfying to take revenge on him.
Therefore, Caprio Parker’s troubles would come to an end for now.
The yacht leisurely returned to Big Island and stayed there for a while.
Every time they came back, they noticed the changes on Big Island.
There were more machines on the island now. What surprised Sean Knight was that on the flat land in the northern part of the island, near the workers’ dormitory, someone had started a small vegetable field. The small cabbages and other vegetables were growing quite well!
"It’s true, as long as there are Chinese people, there will always be vegetable farming. It’s something that has been a part of us," sighed Elijah Hastings.
Sean Knight also smiled, knowing that water and land were abundant on the island. The limestone mixed with the soil should also create fertile land, so it was not surprising that vegetables could be grown.
Craig Davis, now completely tanned and looking different from before, appeared happy to see Sean Knight.
He laughed and said:
"Mr. Knight, every time you come, our workers are very happy. The stuff you bring is much better than what our supply ships deliver."
"Isn’t it just a little short?" Sean Knight smiled and responded, "When we have time, we will stay here a bit more often."
"The conditions are a bit rough though..." Craig Davis said.
"What’s so rough about it? Even if it’s simple, knowing that it’s our own place makes it feel different. Staying in Manila, Jakarta is always uncomfortable. But on this island, it’s different, it’s comfortable!"
Some basic infrastructure had already begun to take shape on the island. The highways were built first and were very smooth. Driving an electric vehicle on it, there was no bumpiness at all.
Apart from the mobile boardrooms where the workers lived, some temporary houses were also built near the seaside and the water source to serve as warehouses or for other purposes.
Sean and his team had no worries about where to stay on the island.
