Chapter 453: Chapter 323: Accidentally Hitting the Deputy Car_2
A few people worked together to slightly move the limestone bed aside, revealing the stone floor underneath.
"It doesn’t seem like there’s anything here?"
Douglas Cooper pressed his face against the ground, trying to peer through the crevices, but he saw nothing.
"Don’t worry, keep moving." Elijah Hastings trusts Sean Knight, so he called out and increased his efforts.
The three of them had absorbed energy before, making them much stronger than ordinary people. Dubawnt Ramirez didn’t know it, but he still reluctantly helped.
Eventually, they moved the entire stone bed to the side.
Underneath the bed, they found a hole filled with two pottery jars, and inside the jars were full of gold coins!
"Holy shit! There really is something here!" Douglas Cooper exclaims.
At this moment, Dubawnt Ramirez was stunned - how could Sean Knight possibly know this?
He doesn’t have X-ray vision!
He couldn’t help but feel some regrets. If he hadn’t joined just now and Sean hadn’t shared the gold coins with him, what would he do when Caprio Parker finds out?
"Come on, let’s count them." Sean Knight said while holding the emergency light: "After counting, let’s transfer these gold coins to our backpacks and put the stone bed back in place."
He had no intention of taking the pottery jars, which were neither famous nor valuable.
Once they left, they were bound to encounter people. If they didn’t find a way to take these gold coins with them, they would face serious trouble later on.
In the end, they counted a total of 317 gold coins in the jars.
"According to the distribution agreement between me and Caprio, I will allocate them like this." Sean Knight picked up sixteen gold coins and said:
"These sixteen coins are for you four, four each. I’ll take the remaining one. Out of the three hundred coins, Caprio gets a hundred and thirty-five, while I get a hundred and sixty-five."
Both Dubawnt Ramirez and Elijah Hastings understood this, so there were no objections.
"These are colonial-era gold coins, with each worth around two to three thousand dollars." Sean Knight said: "At least we got some gains."
Although he wasn’t overly satisfied, both Dubawnt Ramirez and Elijah were quite content.
After all, those four coins were worth more than 10,000 US dollars, which was not a small amount.
Once the gold coins were taken out and the stone bed was moved back into place, Dubawnt Ramirez used his pointed iron rod to poke around the stone chamber.
Sean Knight didn’t stop him but said to Elijah Hastings:
"Let’s go, there’s nothing else here. Let’s get out."
Dubawnt Ramirez hesitated, but ultimately followed them out.
The treasure hunt on Bohol Island came to a close.
Caprio Parker was quite happy when he learned about it. Though it was an unexpected find, gaining something was always delightful, so he called Sean Knight to express his hope that the treasure hunt could continue.
However, Sean refused, saying that he had been out for over a month and wanted to take a break and check on the progress of his island construction.
Accepting this, Caprio Parker had no objections.
Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings went to Jakarta and sold the gold coins through Oliver Brooks’ connections. These local coins, minted in Jakarta or brought over during the Great Voyage period from America, had some value but not much due to their large quantity.
Sean didn’t care much about the gold coins, giving a few to Oliver Brooks and selling the rest.
After that, they stocked up on supplies and headed to the big island.
More than a month had passed, and when they arrived on the big island, Sean Knight almost couldn’t recognize it!
The entire island had been leveled, and the mountain’s peak had practically disappeared, flattening the landscape.
Apart from the two hills left due to mining, the entire mountain was now flat.
The island had also grown larger due to the pile-up of rocks all around it.
The machinery on the island was still roaring, and when their yacht docked at the pier, the young man who came to check was no longer Harrison Lee.
However, he recognized Sean and the others, let them through excitedly, and then reported to Craig Davis through a walkie-talkie.
Soon after, the electric vehicle came and took Sean Knight, along with the supplies, to the island.
"Mr. Knight, isn’t it amazing? The first phase of the island construction is almost complete. We don’t intend to go any further; this height is about right. Next, it’s all about leveling and construction," said Craig Davis, who was also very excited. He could see the changes to the island every day, but it would be a shame if he couldn’t show them to the island’s master.
Craig showed Sean every part of the island, pointing out what was planned for each area and what had already been prepared.
Although Sean had the entire island’s design in his mind, standing on the leveled stone ground and listening to Craig’s introduction while visualizing the completed island in his mind was a peculiar feeling.
It took three days on the island before they returned to Jakarta.
There was no news from Caprio Parker, but Sean didn’t care. He took two more days off before going to the Philippines to find Dubawnt Ramirez.
"Boss, I think we’ve been screwed over. Douglas Cooper, who was investigating in Manila, returned with a resentful face. "Dubawnt and his team have gone to find the treasure."
It took a moment for Sean to react. So, Dubawnt and his team went on their own?
Was this a suggestion from Caprio or Dubawnt’s personal action?
Sean almost immediately determined that it should be the former.
He had spent a month observing Dubawnt’s character and concluded that Dubawnt would only listen to Caprio and had no initiative of his own.
So the matter was clear.
Sean asked Douglas Cooper:
"Do you know where they are?"
"Yes, on Panay Island." Douglas was becoming more skilled at gathering information.
"Do they know we’re coming?" Sean asked again.
"They probably don’t," Douglas replied.
"Alright, let’s go find them," said Sean with a hint of determination. This matter couldn’t be left unresolved.
Even if they had to split up, he needed to be in control.
Sean had already guessed that even if there was a hidden treasure, it would most likely be in his third diary.
After all, at the beginning, the Japan Army didn’t think they would lose.
It wasn’t until 1944 when their situation changed from stalemate to disadvantageous that Yamashita Fumio would likely have started hiding the treasures to prevent them from falling into enemy hands, and also to secure funds for the future.
So now that Caprio had handed the leverage to him, why not use it?
Sean and his team quickly arrived at Panay Island.
With their full attention, they soon found Dubawnt and, to Sean’s surprise, Caprio, who were excavating at a former Japan Army site on the island’s mountain.
This guy was actually here!
"Caprio, you’re going too far with this!" Sean confronted Caprio as soon as he saw him. "We agreed to excavate together; your decision to excavate alone while I was resting violates our agreement! You must compensate me for my loss!"
"Your loss?" Caprio was somewhat embarrassed, as he had breached the contract first. However, he didn’t understand what Sean meant by loss: "What loss do you have?"
"Mental loss!" Sean said solemnly. "I trusted you so much, but you treated me like this... You betrayed my trust in you! You must compensate me for my loss!"
Caprio didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
However, the Philippines was his home turf after all. Since they had been seen, he stopped pretending and told Sean frankly: "There will be no compensation. Either you dig with me, or we go our separate ways. You do your thing, and I’ll do mine."
With two diary notebooks in hand, he thought he had a better chance of winning than Sean. So why share with Sean?
He had already felt a loss from the previous gold coins!
But how could Sean accept this injustice?
