Chapter 450: Chapter 322: Could It Be Genuine?
Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings and others waited in Jakarta for three days before Caprio Parker came to see them again.
During these three days, Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings did not idle. They bought a villa in Jakarta City District.
According to Sean, since there was the Big Island, they would always have to stop in Jakarta; Instead of staying at a hotel every time, it’s more convenient to just buy a villa.
After buying the villa, Sean felt a bit regretful and said to Elijah:
"I wish I would have kept one of the villas from that swindler back then. It would’ve been much more convenient - now buying another one doesn’t seem as worth it."
That being said, Sean was just complaining. The money they made from treasure hunting now could easily buy several villas, so he was just venting.
Elijah and others understood, so they just laughed and didn’t respond.
Sean received Caprio at the new villa, along with a friend he brought along.
When Caprio came to the villa entrance, Sean said to Elijah:
"I didn’t expect this guy to move so fast. I thought he had the first two diaries when he mentioned having them. Finding out later that he didn’t, I figured whoever had them wouldn’t let them go easily.
So I thought that even if he could get them, it would take at least ten days to half a month. I didn’t expect it to be so quick."
Elijah was also quite surprised, but he didn’t say anything. Instead, it was Douglas Cooper who said dismissively:
"This Caprio has money, I guess he just threw money at it?"
Sean thought it was possible. After all, Caprio had also planned to throw money at him in the first place.
That was the most likely scenario.
Two luxury cars stopped at the villa entrance. Sean watched as Caprio got out of his car. What surprised him was that this time, instead of coming straight over, Caprio went to the car’s rear and personally opened the door to help a seventy-year-old man out.
The elderly man looked frail and seemed quite old, his expression was very solemn.
Caprio helped the elderly man to the villa entrance, where Sean extended a hand and gestured:
"Mr. Caprio, the elderly gentleman, please come in."
Entering the villa, Lincoln Harrington brought tea. Caprio helped the old man sit down and said to Sean:
"Mr. Knight, this elderly gentleman from Saiban is the owner of the first and second diaries."
"Hello, elder!" Sean greeted the old man.
The elderly man spoke to Sean in somewhat unskillful English: "Hello, young man, I heard the third diary is in your possession. May I see it?"
"Yes, of course. But I would also like to see the first and second diaries," Sean responded very politely.
The old man didn’t say anything, he took out a cloth package from his chest and placed it on the tea table, revealing the two diaries inside.
Sean took a glance at them, and with the help of Sky Eye, he recognized that they were indeed made of the same material and from the same period as the diary he had obtained.
Although he hadn’t seen the content yet, it should be the first and second diaries that Caprio had mentioned.
Sean nodded and went upstairs. When he came back down, he was holding a diary in his hand.
This was the diary obtained from Jaxon Kingsley.
The elderly man’s eyes lit up when he saw the diary in Sean’s hand. He stood up and walked a step towards Sean but finally stopped.
Sean handed the diary to the old man who opened it and looked at the first page. Then he randomly flipped through the middle before closing it again.
Sean also casually flipped through the two diaries that the old man had.
At this point, Caprio was extremely nervous.
Fortunately, Sean understood the rules and did not go through the two diaries in their entirety.
The elderly man put down the diary and said to Sean:
"Young man, you are very lucky. I heard you want to treasure hunt with this Caprio?"
Sean nodded.
"Alright then," the old man sighed, "I am old."
After saying that, he pushed his two diaries towards Caprio.
Caprio was extremely excited and immediately took out his checkbook, wrote a check, and handed it to the elderly man.
The elderly man didn’t even look at it, just stuffed the check into his pocket and said to Sean:
"Good luck with your search."
After that, he spoke to Caprio:
"Find someone to take me back."
Immediately, Caprio gestured, and one of his men respectfully helped the elderly man out of the villa.
The moment he left, Caprio grabbed the two diaries with an accomplished expression on his face.
Sean laughed and said:
"It seems that the elder would not have sold those two diaries if it weren’t for the presence of the third one."
Sean’s words had an intended meaning; although Caprio was thick-skinned, he knew that he had to cooperate. So, he bluntly said:
"Yes, he said that unless he sees the third diary, he would not give up the first two. I relied on Mr. Knight’s influence, so if the treasure is found, my share can be 5% less than yours."
Sean nodded, being able to get this was not bad at all.
"Next, let’s discuss our cooperation method." Caprio was a man of action, he sat down and said, "Mr. Knight, I think we should be more honest with each other."
"Of course, we can be more honest," Sean smiled and said, "But since it’s our first cooperation, and there’s no foundation of trust between us, we should still come up with a safer method."
Caprio originally wanted to list all the place names mentioned in the diaries and search one by one.
