Chapter 436: Chapter 313: Something is wrong with this place_2
Andrew’s words did not cause a stir in Sean and his companions’ minds.
They would definitely search for the treasure and would not give up due to the obstruction of these young boys - they just hoped that the boys would back down. Otherwise, no one knew what would happen next.
"Actually, I really hope you can find the treasure," Andrew suddenly said. "If you find it, these young boys will lose hope and stop clamoring for their restoration or whatever."
Was this line of thinking possible?
Sean and Elijah suddenly felt that their treasure hunt had become somewhat sacred.
Save the future of the youth!
At this time, a car pulled up outside, and Elijah laughed:
"Douglas and the others are back, right?"
"No," Sean shook his head: "It doesn’t sound like their car."
An off-road vehicle stopped in the courtyard, a middle-aged man and a young man came to the entrance.
The walls of Andrew’s courtyard were only 1.5 meters high, allowing them to clearly see the situation inside the courtyard.
"Hey, hello," the middle-aged man greeted cheerfully, "I’m a treasure hunter from the mine. May we come in and talk?"
His gaze turned to Sean.
Sean, in turn, looked at Andrew.
Since the courtyard belonged to Andrew, the decision was naturally his to make.
Feeling respected, Andrew nodded with satisfaction and said loudly:
"Come in!"
The two men entered, smiling and greeting Andrew:
"Hello, sir."
Then they addressed Sean and Elijah:
"Hello."
After introducing themselves, the younger one, named Devon, was French, while the older one named Boris was an American.
"We’ve been searching for treasure in the abandoned mine for three years now," Devon chatted away. "You must be treasure hunters too, right? Getting a clue to this treasure must have cost you a lot of effort, right?"
Sean shook his head:
"No, it was just a coincidence."
With Andrew’s permission, Devon and Boris sat down at the small table.
Andrew brought a teapot to pour water, then went inside the house.
He could see that Devon and Boris were here to see Sean.
"Actually, the treasure should be in the mine," Devon said, seemingly casually, but full of confidence. "In the early years, there were quite a few treasure hunters. After all, in some private records, those supply vehicles couldn’t hide from people."
Sean was unmoved and didn’t lose confidence just because Devon was so certain.
Instead, Elijah couldn’t help but ask:
"Is it really in the mine? Maybe not? If it’s really in there, you should have found it already, right? After all, you’ve been looking for three years."
Devon had no rebuttal to Elijah’s words, but he quickly recovered, laughing:
"We say this with reason. There aren’t many places near Owl Town to hide things. Counting the river, the lake, plus the mine, there are only three places."
"Why can’t it be in the river or the lake, then? And didn’t you say there’s a graveyard too?" Elijah continued to argue.
However, Sean knew that Elijah was actually trying to get more information.
"We’ve already tried to salvage the river and lake. Not just us, but other treasure hunters have tried too. But there were no results."
It seemed like he had thought of something and laughed:
"As for the graveyard you mentioned, indeed some treasure hunters thought there might be treasures hidden there. They took metal detectors to the graves and found a large amount of metal."
He paused, obviously expecting Sean and Elijah to ask questions.
But neither of them obliged him.
Devon shrugged, having no choice but to continue:
"As a result, they dug up the graves and found that they were all iron-sheet coffins. They dug further, and found nothing, hahaha..."
As a result, their grave digging was discovered, and they were beaten by the locals, sent to the police station, and had to pay a hefty fine."
Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings exchanged glances, both seeing the two words "served right" in each other’s eyes.
"So now, these places where one can get involved and hide things have actually been searched, and the only unexplored place is the mine pit."
Sean understood the purpose of Devon and Boris’s visit.
The intention was simple:
They wanted to find the treasure, but since the available places had been searched, there was no hope for Sean and his companions to find it, so they might as well leave.
This was, of course, a way to squeeze out competitors. It was surprising that young Devon was so adept at using this tactic.
He must have done it many times before.
But would it work?
At least not for Sean and his friends.
After Devon’s speech, he felt a bit parched, so he picked up his teacup and took a sip of the drink. As he was about to say a few words of praise, he heard a car coming outside.
Devon knew that Sean’s group had five treasure hunters: four men and a woman.
So when Cheryl Suweton got out of the car, he wasn’t surprised. However, he was immediately taken aback by how unexpectedly beautiful and sophisticated she was!
He stared at Cheryl for several moments until she came to Sean’s side and looked puzzled. Only then did he regain his composure.
Subconsciously raising his teacup, he intended to take a sip to cover his embarrassment.
But he had forgotten that he had already drunk the tea.
"These two are Devon and Boris from the Mountain Mine Treasure Hunting Team," Sean introduced, "they came here to... chat."
Devon’s mouth twitched, damn chatting—although he couldn’t explain anything at the moment.
"I’m hungry." Cheryl nodded to Devon and Boris, then stopped paying attention to them. She turned to Sean and said with a hint of coquetry, "Do you have any more instant noodles? I want to eat two packs."
There were some instant noodles in Sean’s supplies. Cheryl had tried them once before and liked the taste, so she occasionally wanted to have some more.
"Okay, I’ll boil some water for you." There was no ready-made hot water at Andrew Petrov’s place, so fresh water was used as needed. Even hot tea was made with freshly boiled water.
Cheryl hugged Sean affectionately and went inside to change her clothes.
After a while, Sean brought out the bowl of instant noodles that he made for Cheryl. To his surprise, Devon and Boris hadn’t left yet.
Seeing Sean reappear, Devon volunteered, "Actually, I have an idea. Both our teams are strong in treasure hunting, so we could cooperate."
"How do we cooperate?" Sean was somewhat surprised that Devon changed his mind so quickly.
"We could hire your help in finding the treasure in the mine pit," Devon said sincerely, "Actually, there are countless branches in the mine pit, and the passages are extremely complex. Experienced hands are needed to complete the treasure hunting mission."
"No thanks," said Sean, waving his hand. "We have no intention of working with others. We wish you good luck in your treasure hunt."
He looked at the sky, the sun had already set, and the daylight was fading.
Devon wasn’t a fool, he realized Sean was trying to send them off and got up to leave.
Reaching the entrance, Devon stopped, turned back to Sean, and said:
"If you change your mind, you can find me in the mine pit."
After nodding, he left.
"That guy isn’t sincere at all," Cheryl remarked as she twisted her noodles with a fork, eating while speaking, "His gaze is full of insincerity."
Sean laughed and said, "The invitation might be because of you, because of your beauty. Of course, they might also want to keep us close to reduce uncertainties."
"Who cares. No results today, we’ll continue tomorrow. I don’t believe we won’t find the treasure!" Cheryl took a big gulp of soup, speaking while puffing air, "Sean, your lucky streak must come into play this time!"
Sean smiled and didn’t say anything.
For tomorrow, only the graveyard by the lake remained to be searched. He wondered if they could find clues there.
If not, it might be nearly impossible to find the treasure.
The second day, Sean and Elijah’s car stopped near the lakeside graveyard.
The graveyard was behind a wooded area. They parked the car about three hundred meters away and walked to the graveyard.
The terrain was truly unique!
Suddenly, Sean felt that their decision to come here was the right one!
