Chapter 435: Chapter 313: Something is wrong with this place
That day, after exploring the riverbank, Sean and his friends returned before sunset. This was mainly because going further would require them to cross the river and make a detour, so they decided to head back instead.
Old Master Andrew was still in the courtyard with a wine bottle in his hand. This time, however, he had switched to red wine, occasionally taking sips and appearing somewhat helpless.
Seeing Sean, the old man looked at him with some expectation.
Sean snickered secretly, but still politely went into the kitchen and cut up some luncheon meat, serving it on plates.
Since they had brought plenty of food, the group did not consider it as their main meal, so sharing a portion wasn’t a problem.
"Young man, you’re a good person!" The old man was delighted. "This meat tastes really good!"
Sean and Elijah sat in the courtyard, chatting with the old man.
"... Some of the young people in the town have been led astray," Andrew suddenly mentioned out of the blue. "If they cause trouble for you, feel free to give them a good kick in the ass! Teach them a lesson!"
Sean and Elijah looked at each other, both a little surprised. What was going on?
Did something happen while they were away?
Just then, the sound of motorcycles and loud voices came from outside. The noise grew closer, apparently heading in their direction.
"These damned kids!" Andrew cursed. "They’re here to cause trouble again!"
In an instant, a group of seven or eight 17-18-year-old boys arrived at the entrance of Old Master Andrew’s courtyard and rudely pushed the door open.
The leader of the group was around twenty years old, with a shaved head. A tattoo of an Iron Cross covered his exposed arm, looking very conspicuous.
These really were a bunch of rotten kids!
"Yellow-skin pigs, get out of here! Owl Town doesn’t welcome you!" The youth in the lead shouted at Sean while wielding a baseball bat.
The boys behind him joined in the shouting, creating quite an imposing scene.
Andrew was furious:
"Carter! Is this how your parents taught you to treat guests? Get out of my yard, or old Andrew won’t be polite!"
Old Andrew, you can’t even lift a hunting rifle anymore, so don’t threaten us!" Carter didn’t fear Andrew’s threat. "We’re just defending the interests of our town! That treasure belongs to Owl Town, and we won’t allow outsiders, especially these yellow pigs, to take it!"
"Yes!"
"Absolutely not!"
"No one can take it!"
The support from the boys behind him made Carter somewhat smug.
Elijah couldn’t stand it any longer. He stepped forward, glaring coldly at Carter:
"Apologize!"
"Apologize? Hahaha!" Carter laughed exaggeratedly. "There’s no such word as ’apologize’ in Carter’s dictionary!"
Elijah picked up a stone and Carter immediately backed off, thinking that Elijah would throw it at him.
"Bang!"
Elijah didn’t hit him with the stone, instead holding the rock in his left hand and smashing it into two halves with a punch from his right hand!
"Apologize! Or I’ll let you experience what it feels like to be this stone!"
"Kung Fu!"
One of the boys behind him exclaimed.
"How is this possible? Isn’t it supposed to be Magic?"
"I thought it was quarrelsome..."
The punch rendered the gang speechless, and even Andrew was taken aback. He swallowed and loudly said:
"Carter! Hurry up and apologize to my guests! Otherwise, even your parents won’t be able to prevent you from getting hurt!"
Carter hesitated, caught between a rock and a hard place.
Sean curiously looked at the stone, then had an epiphany.
No wonder!
But it was a good trick.
Otherwise, if they had really beaten up these kids, it would have caused more trouble.
When the small ones are hit, the grown-ups will naturally follow.
"Apologize!" Elijah took another step forward, putting pressure on Carter and raising his voice.
Facing no other choice, Carter didn’t want to lose face in front of his followers, so he suddenly let out a loud yell and swung his baseball bat at Elijah.
"Bang!"
With a single sidestep, Elijah punched Carter in the ribs, causing him to instantly fall to the ground, convulsing!
The boys behind Carter were shocked. That was quick!
Then, they turned and fled!
"Eric, Goldman, carry Carter away! Otherwise, I’ll tell your parents, and they’ll give you a good kick on your asses!"
The last two boys reluctantly came back and carried the disgraced Carter away.
Only then did Andrew ask Elijah:
"Elijah, is Carter alright?"
"He’s fine; he might vomit a couple of times, but he won’t be injured." Elijah assured him, and Andrew finally relaxed.
"You’re amazing! Is this the Kung Fu of China?" Andrew looked at the stone Elijah had thrown aside, asking out of curiosity.
"Uh, I guess you could say that."
Sean tried to hold back a laugh.
Elijah signaled Sean with his eyes, asking him not to expose the truth.
Sean naturally wouldn’t spill the beans - in fact, the stone was sandy limestone, which was only slightly harder than a clump of soil.
"Those damned kids - sigh." Andrew talked about their situation. "Their parents mostly work in nearby logging camps or on farmland, so they don’t have time to keep an eye on them.
For the past two years, the new teacher at the school was a fanatical supporter of the Schutzstaffel. Of course, I think part of his reason for coming here to teach was to find some clues about the treasure."
"These stinky kids were led astray - actually, Carter used to be quite a good kid. When he was in middle school, he often helped me shovel snow in the winter. Sigh!"
