Chapter 418: Chapter 304: The Inexplicable Bounty Task
Having collected the red coral, Sean Knight thought for a moment and said:
"Let’s change our location and hide the boat to see if the marine patrol boat will come."
Naturally, Elijah Hastings and the others had no objection to their boss’s sudden change of heart. They circled the island and found a bay to move the yacht to.
Although this place wasn’t suitable as a harbor, it was no problem to hide the boat at night.
Lincoln Harrington stayed on the yacht to watch, while Sean brought Elijah and Douglas Cooper onto the island. They hid in a high place, drinking wine and eating snacks while observing the direction where their yacht had previously been docked.
However, after waiting for several hours, their wine and snacks were gone, and mosquitoes started to swarm. Douglas was getting impatient and whispered:
"Boss, could it be that they won’t come today and will come tomorrow instead?"
Sean kept looking through the telescope and said while watching:
"Let’s wait a bit longer. Once it gets dark, we’ll go back to the yacht."
Looking at the sky, it would be completely dark in half an hour, so Douglas calmed down.
The boss’s words were always reliable, so he waited another half an hour.
"They’re here!"
Sean suddenly whispered, "They’re here!"
F
In the distance, a small black dot appeared in their field of vision, and Elijah and Douglas immediately raised their telescopes to take a look.
Indeed, by its silhouette, it was the same marine patrol boat from earlier in the day.
"People just can’t escape their greedy desires," Sean lamented. "Now we’ll see if the poison I’ve planted has any effect."
If it had no effect, Sean wouldn’t mind causing a small accident or something.
Those who tried to steal his things were already no different from robbers and thieves!
The marine patrol boat stopped near the original docking position of the yacht, and then two divers went into the water.
"They’re in the water, they’re in!" Douglas seemed more anxious than Sean, knowing that the living coral Sean had mentioned was much larger than what he had picked up. He raised his voice slightly, saying:
"For ten million... those little guys must be useful!"
"Don’t worry, I’m sure they will be," said Sean, observing the situation, although he himself wasn’t confident.
He figured that even if some of the hundred or so poisonous creatures fled, the rest would be defending their new homes in fear. Their territory was being invaded, so they should be fighting back, right?
Half an hour later, it was almost completely dark, and the lights came on on the marine patrol boat.
"They’re coming out, they’re coming out!" Elijah whispered in reminder.
Sean had already seen it: One diver surfaced, active and alright, while the other was lying down — clearly, someone had been poisoned!
They didn’t seem to have any harvest, so their venture seemed to have been unsuccessful.
"Not bad, not bad!" Douglas chuckled, "That’ll teach you to steal!"
The person on the deck hurriedly pulled the injured man up, and the unhurt diver wanted to go up too, but was scolded by the people on deck, so he had no choice but to dive back in.
Then another diver went in.
From here, they could see that after they had submerged, they turned on their headlamps.
After all, the natural light was no longer usable, so if they didn’t turn on the lights, they probably wouldn’t see anything underwater.
"Boss, you think they can get anything out of it?" Douglas was a bit worried.
"I don’t think they’ll be able to salvage anything. I’m not even sure these two will make it back up," Sean said casually. "Some creatures only come out at night on the seafloor, and with their limited field of view, going down to salvage at this time is just asking for trouble."
Indeed, after waiting for almost an hour, no one came up!
This time, the people on the marine patrol boat panicked and immediately sent down two more divers. About half an hour later, two divers came up dragging one person while the other seemed lost.
After nearly another half an hour, no one went down again. Sean stood up and said:
"Let’s go. When the daylight comes, they’ll probably salvage a few people and then leave."
There was a high probability that someone would be poisoned to death, but Sean felt no guilt at all.
People die for their greed, and birds die for food. This was the price of greed.
Back on the yacht, everyone was exhausted, so after arranging the night watch, they all went to rest.
The next day, after breakfast, the yacht returned to its original position, only to find that the marine patrol boat was gone.
Sean and Elijah dived together to the living coral on the seafloor, and found that the coral hadn’t been damaged at all, and there wasn’t even any trace of it being discovered.
It was the nearby pink coral that was more easily found, and a piece of it had been broken off.
As for the diver, he wasn’t found, and it was unclear if he had been salvaged or floated away.
They changed locations, caught some seafood, went back on the yacht, and then headed back.
Back in Jakarta, the four of them continued to stay in the hotel.
That day, Richard Churchill made a phone call:
"Brother, I’ve already asked about the situation here. It’s like this: The leadership is actually quite concerned about this matter.
They plan to send people from the Provincial Design Institute first, to conduct a site survey of the island, then produce a design plan, followed by the construction company’s personnel going there.
After all, it’s an overseas project, and hiring workers takes time."
"No problem, we welcome that!" Sean knew this was the normal procedure. A makeshift team could simply be assembled and then start immediately.
However, scientific methods required a survey and design; otherwise, problems could arise halfway through the project, leading to bigger issues.
After hanging up, Sean said to Elijah and the others:
