Chapter 407: Chapter 298: Almost Losing Hope_2

He and York Howard refer to each other by their own nicknames, which is distinctive and a bit quirky.

However, they are used to it and have not asked each other to change.

"He’s likely to end up in prison," York Howard thought and said, "If it’s just rare fish, a fine might suffice. However, with so many, he probably might not be able to save his boat.

But with those other things accounted for, he could be going in for at least a few years."

"Isn’t that a bit harsh on Andie?"

"Harsh?" York Howard scoffed, "He deserves it! Not to mention me, a few years ago when a lot of Chinese were on vacation here, they’d charter a boat to sea and enjoy the fun of fishing.

Andie conned several crowds of tourists: once they rented the boat, he’d take them out to sea and either stop halfway through to ask for extra money or catch good fish and sell them himself...

Since he had some connections at the port, the tourists couldn’t do anything about it and had to put up with their bad luck..."

In that case, Sean Knight immediately felt justified.

Sending such a person into jail made him very happy:

"Ah, if I had known earlier, I would’ve added more stuff. These things probably won’t take a few years, right?"

York Howard did not expect Sean Knight to change his mind so quickly, but he liked it and laughed, saying:

"Don’t worry, he won’t escape a minimum of five years. The main issue is the combination of two charges, it’s a bit of a problem for him."

"That’s good, let’s stop thinking about him and find another place to continue."

The shadow of the maritime patrol boat was already gone. They figured their attention would be focused on Andie and the sunken ship under the water, they wouldn’t give Sean Knight and others any consideration.

York Howard did not ask where the bronze cannons were, and Sean Knight did not say. They acted as if the matter didn’t exist.

To trick Andie and deal with the maritime patrol boat, the matter was essentially perfect.

As for the rest, it was no longer necessary to consider.

The boat sailed about 70 to 80 nautical miles and stopped.

"This is about as far as we can call international waters," said York Howard, smiling, "You can salvage stuff here without worrying about who who will see."

Sean Knight nodded, "Then we’ll stay here for a few more days. Take a longer detour nearby."

Once in international waters, there were actually more boats around.

In just one hour, they saw a cargo ship and a yacht pass by from a distance.

"This waterway is pretty busy," Sean Knight remarked while on the deck, looking at the distance.

"Yes," said York Howard, "But it doesn’t affect us. There are even betting boats in the international waters, and no one really cares."

"Are there any pirates?" Douglas interjected, "Will there be pirates coming over?"

"I haven’t heard of any here", York Howard shook his head, "Although it’s international waters, we’re still relatively close to inhabited islands."

"Alright, let’s dive then. Maybe we can salvage something good here."

Busy waterways would invariably have sunken ships.

But most are not worth salvaging.

Like right now, 200 meters from the yacht, at a depth of several meters, a boat was flipped over on the seafloor.

"This is a fishing boat." After surfacing, Sean Knight judged, "There should be nothing of value, but you can give it a try."

Upon hearing this, Douglas, who had initially discovered the ship, was immediately disappointed. Shaking his head, he said:

"Since Boss said there’s nothing, I’m not going to waste my energy. I’ll keep looking."

With that, he flipped back into the water.

Sean Knight scanned the ship with Sky Eye, and indeed there was nothing. The boat itself wasn’t large, just about ten meters long, a common fishing boat that sank a few decades ago.

Several similar boats were found nearby.

In fact, during his dive, Sean Knight also found a sunken container.

It contained a sports car - unfortunately, it was waterlogged.

Sean Knight just glanced at it and then left. Besides the car, there was also a smaller octopus, comparable to the one he had previously salvaged - he couldn’t understand how it got through the small gap of the container.

After looking around, Sean Knight concluded that the possibility of finding the Brooks family ship here was slim.

The waterway was too busy, and the seawater was not deep. If any sunken ship of value did exist, it would likely have already been salvaged.

York Howard also clearly stated:

"This is beyond my previous scope. We probably have to go back."

"Then we’ll proceed slowly." Sean Knight thought: 70 to 80 nautical miles, once converted to kilometers, is over a hundred. Even if Indonesia’s maritime patrol boat summon an archaeological ship to excavate at the previous site, they wouldn’t be able to see this side - even with very high visibility.

After all, the Earth is round!

So the yacht started to return.

Next, they stopped and went, then discovered another sunken ship, also a fishing boat, but slightly larger. This ship had a longer history, but similarly, there was nothing valuable in it.

Sean Knight felt that even if they couldn’t salvage anything, Oliver Brooks, who had started to relax and enjoy diving for seafood and having barbecues every day, would still be happy.

In the meantime, he was making a satellite phone call back to chat with Xiao Xiu.

Sean thought, if this continues, he would have to get busy.

Oliver Brooks could relax, but he could not!

Their journey was focused on finding the golden treasure. How could they not strive?

So Sean asked Oliver Brooks to stay on the ship, while he, Elija Hastings, and two others took turns diving.

During this time, Sean, who had been submerged in the water, did not get sunburned, but became a lot stronger.

His body, which was already powerfully transformed, now looked even healthier.

Every time they switched locations, Sean went underwater. He didn’t do much salvaging; he mainly used his Sky Eye to scour the seafloor around him.

Days went by, and it was almost a month since they had started, with their supplies almost used up.

If they were not fortunate enough to meet a cargo ship on the way and exchanged some of their catches for fresh vegetables and fruits, they probably would not have lasted so long.

"Let’s move to another spot. If we don’t find anything there, we’ll go back," Sean thought. This was probably the least fruitful treasure hunt he’d ever had.

It was a failure.

It would be impossible to say he wasn’t disappointed. After all, the streak of victories made Sean somewhat feel that treasure hunting was simple.

As long as he found the right spot, as long as the clues were correct, he would find the treasure.

But now, the vast ocean taught him a lesson - one should not be too complacent.

Moreover, the sea was far too vast, and everything within it, humans and boats alike, were minuscule in comparison.

Think of the millions of ships believed to lie at the bottom of the world’s oceans, but how many have actually been discovered?

And how many of them hold any value?

Compared to some who would spend years, decades hunting for a single treasure, Sean felt very lucky.

So when Oliver Brooks asked him if he was disappointed, Sean told Oliver all of these thoughts, Oliver immediately thumped his thumbs up:

"Mr. Knight, if I had your wisdom earlier, I would have accepted my realities more quickly, and not have been so painfully obsessed for so many years! You taught me a lesson!"

Sean chuckled.

Elijah Hastings and the others were secretly amused.

Sean was able to say this because he didn’t care too much about the outcome. His recent treasure hunts had earned him from tens of millions to over a hundred million. Therefore, not finding any treasure this time didn’t affect him at all.

He had even enjoyed this trip, which had been worthwhile.

The yacht dropped anchor and Sean was the first to dive in.

"I’ll go down and have a look first, and we can switch later. You two can decide amongst yourselves who’ll go next."

With that, Sean took a bite of his oxygen mouthpiece and dived into the water.

Although the water was slightly murkier than before, the visibility was still good.

There were lots of fish which didn’t panic at Sean’s presence. Some of them even swam up to him and swirled around him curiously.

The sunlight reached the seafloor, illuminating the swaying corals, sea anemones, and seaweeds under the influence of the water current. It was beautiful.

Sean sank to the bottom of the sea and strolled leisurely.

Suddenly, the sand beneath his feet shifted, and a flounder flipped up and bolted away.

It was hiding beneath the sand Sean stepped on.

Sean chuckled and continued on.

Not a dozen meters ahead, he noticed a piece of coral-encrusted debris, which appeared somewhat familiar.

Could this be another sunken ship?

Sean instinctively activated his Sky Eye.

Oh my god!
