Chapter 380: Chapter 285: To Whom Should I Give it?
Evelyn Taylor was looking with concern at the expressions on Sean Knight’s faces and those of his companions.
It appeared from their faces as though they were contemplating violence!
If it really did come to blows, how could she and Kelly Martin, two women, defend themselves?
Right at that moment, Sean Knight turned his back on them and said gravely:
"If I were to say, I want them..."
On hearing this, Evelyn Taylor was encouraged, and eagerly replied,
"All these bronze wares are yours! The boss has said that we’ll cover all the transportation and paperwork!"
Sean Knight paused for a moment.
What he really wanted to ask was whether he could freely choose what he wanted.
After all, there were 184 pieces of bronze ware, of which eleven were inscribed.
The longest inscription was on a large bronze plate, with about a hundred characters engraved on it.
Whether they were hieroglyphic characters or inscriptions, Sean Knight was a little lacking in his ability in this area, and could only recognize a few characters such as sun, fire, and big.
But, more than a hundred characters!
They surely recorded important historical events!
This object, if placed in any domestic museum, could serve as a treasured artifact!
The inscriptions on the remaining ten bronze pieces were all just a handful of characters, up to about a dozen.
But they were still amazing!
The original idea of Sean Knight was to at least grab those with inscriptions; even if he couldn’t take them all, he planned to buy the remainder himself.
He didn’t expect that even before he could propose this, Evelyn suggested they could all be his!
At that moment, Sean Knight felt like a mouse who had just fallen into a pile of rice!
He really made it big this time!
"Alright then," Fortunately, he was beyond being overly enthused at this point and calmly said, "I will take them all. However, I want to supervise the transportation. Not a single part can be missing! Additionally, I need official ownership paperwork that can withstand scrutiny from Customs and the law!"
In reality, if not for Kelly mentioning earlier that the stolen fragment had been discarded, he would have been interested in retrieving that as well!
Evelyn immediately nodded in agreement; his demands were exactly what she had been instructed to relay. To them, these issues were not real problems.
All these bronze wares had a thick layer of green patina covering them, and Sean knew he was an amateur in this field, so he dared not to move or clean them.
As for transportation, he wouldn’t dare to be careless.
If they were to get damaged in the process, he would be furious!
Seeing Sean Knight’s expression soften, Evelyn’s spirits lifted.
This essentially meant that the One Hundred Thousand Euros that had been offered to her as a bonus was now hers!
One Hundred Thousand Euros!
For Evelyn Taylor, an administrative assistant, this was indeed a huge sum!
After all, she was not Torris Connor’s Assistant, but rather several levels down.
Noticing that Sean Knight had agreed to the deal, Kelly Martin, standing on the side, looked at Evelyn and then at Sean, and finally back at Evelyn before she happily declared:
"Then, about these items – as agreed earlier, you owe me... One Hundred Thousand Euros!"
Looking at her face, she clearly believed she had hit the jackpot!
Sean Knight was flabbergasted!
So this hefty woman reckoned these items weren’t even worth One Hundred Thousand Euros?!
Unbelievable!
If he had known the score earlier, he would’ve intercepted this deal no matter what!
However, it was too late now, saying anything would not only be pointless but also ruin his reputation.
Regardless of how it may look, these leads came through Torris, or rather, from Evelyn.
Something occurred to Sean Knight as he looked at Evelyn Taylor: if he could befriend Evelyn, and any similar incidents happened in the future, could he profit considerably?
After all, for all this bronze ware, Torris’s company only had to pay One Hundred Thousand Euros!
All of a sudden, Evelyn was mortified!
Though she had no inkling about the negotiation between Sean Knight and her boss, she had the impression that the price couldn’t be less than ten million.
Unfortunately, Kelly, in her eagerness to secure the money for herself, prematurely disclosed the actual price.
Would Sean Knight get angry?
Furthermore, when she noticed Sean Knight staring at her, Evelyn felt a pang of guilt.
Fortunately, Sean Knight didn’t make things awkward for her. Instead, he made another request:
"I hope a professional packaging company can come and carefully wrap each piece of bronze ware to avoid any collisions or damages. It has to be packaging that can withstand being thrown around, and it absolutely cannot cause any damage to the items!"
"Okay, okay!" As long as Sean Knight was willing to accept the items, Evelyn was confident that the rest could be easily handled.
No matter how extravagant the packaging, it would not cost much.
Besides, the company would cover the cost.
She pulled Kelly aside and whispered something to her. Although Kelly Martin looked a little disgruntled, she still nodded and went silent.
"So, should I call Torris now?" Sean Knight was also eager to finalize the deal.
"Sure," nodded Evelyn. "I also need to contact the packaging and freight forwarder."
Sean Knight went outside to call Torris.
Regardless of the profits he was going to make or the potential ally he could recruit in Evelyn, it was imperative to finalize the deal with the bronze items as soon as possible.
Torris Connor was taken aback when he received Sean Knight’s call. He assumed that Sean Knight had just gotten off the plane and would either still be resting or having dinner.
"Mr. Connor, I am very satisfied with the bronze wares. We can proceed with the trade now."
Sean Knight was straightforward with his words, which thrilled Torris: "Really? Then I’ll send someone over right away...no, I’ll come personally."
The Golden Battle Skirt was of extreme importance to Torris; he could only feel assured when he had it in his possession.
"Then you come over. I’ve decided to package up the bronze items and ship them out. The bronze wares are severely damaged and have not been well preserved; I need to find professionals to restore them."
