Chapter 376: Chapter 283: Too Much Excitement is not a Good Thing!

The second day, Sean Knight, along with Elijah Hastings and others, arrived at the Presidential Suite of the Hilton Hotel.

Although he had Mr. John backing him, Knight felt it preferable to be cautious.

When Torris Connor saw Lincoln Harrington behind Knight holding a box, a smile spread across his face.

In one room of the suite which was furnished like a conference room, there were five people on Connor’s side.

Apart from the two black-clothed bodyguards, who stood behind the chairs with their hands clasped in front of their stomachs, there were two men on either side of Connor.

One was around sixty years old, wearing glasses, casually dressed, with messy hair.

He was also excitedly staring at the box in Lincoln’s hands, paying no attention to anyone else.

The other was about forty years old, slightly balding, a bit chubby, wearing a suit, looking very formal. He held a more restrained expression than the others. He only occasionally glanced at the box and then focused his gaze on Sean Knight.

Knight and Lincoln sat down. Elijah and Douglas Cooper stood behind them, being attentive at all times.

"Mr. Knight, let me introduce you to these two gentlemen."

Connor pointed to the sixty-year-old man who was still staring at the box in Lincoln’s hands.

"This is Mr. Morton Conley, a renowned archaeologist from the British Empire.

Mr. Conley is not only an archaeologist; he is also a teacher at London University and is a famous postgraduate tutor.

Also, Mr. Conley has always been conducting research on the history of Wales. The restoration of the Welsh Golden Shawl was participated in by Mr. Conley’s teacher."

This introduction was quite important. Knight guessed that this was also the reason why Connor invited Mr. Conley.

Although it had been appraised in the video, who could guarantee that the object that Knight brought was real?

Upon hearing Connor’s introduction, Conley politely nodded at Knight, then looked back at the box.

Lincoln had already placed the box on the table in front of him. However, it was closer to him, so he could pack up everything at any time if necessary.

"This is Mr. Triseris Parker, who worked in the British Museum for six years. Three of those years were spent taking care of and giving explanations about the Welsh Mold Shawl."

Triseris greeted Knight with a polite smile.

"So," after the introduction, Connor turned to Knight, "Can we now unveil the rarely-seen, precious object in front of us?"

Knight nodded and said:

"Of course."

Hearing his answer, Lincoln carefully opened the box, took out the Golden Battle Skirt, and placed it on the table.

Almost the instant he saw the Battle Skirt, Conley stood up and then lunged over, wanting to hold the Golden Battle Skirt in his arms.

Lincoln was scared and immediately pulled back the artifact. Conley missed it and looked up at Lincoln somewhat in surprise.

Connor was also startled and exclaimed:

"Mr. Conley! Please be careful!"

Only then did Conley realize his aberrance. He hurriedly said:

"I’m really sorry – but I can confirm just from a glance, that this Battle Skirt and the Mold Golden Shawl are from the same era, and are of the same craftsmanship! This piece, even more perfect!"

Knight was somewhat incredulous. This old man’s exaggeration was too much, wasn’t it? It felt as if he were trying to rob it outright!

He ignored the old man and looked at Connor:

"Mr. Connor, you should know how fragile this Golden Battle Skirt is! If any deformation or damage occurs due to this interaction, I will not only cancel any possible transactions, I will also demand compensation from you!"

Connor was also startled just now. He quickly said to Knight:

"Mr. Knight, it was an accident just now! Mr. Conley is from Wales and has done a lot of research on the history of Wales!

He has always been dedicated to finding the source of the Golden Shawl and Golden Battle Skirt and recovering the past glory of Wales - Mr. Conley has always speculated that there must have been an extremely splendid ancient civilization in Wales..."

"It’s not speculation, it does exist! There must be! Otherwise, the existence of this Battle Skirt and that Shawl cannot be explained!" Conley’s voice was filled with fanaticism and determination.

"That’s no reason for you to snatch my Battle Skirt!" Knight said coldly.

What’s the use of having a civilization? Other than that Shawl and this Battle Skirt, what other evidence was there? Nothing had been found!

Even if foreign countries do not recognize the existence of the Xia Dynasty, at least there are numerous suspected Xia Dynasty sites like the Erlitou culture.

What does Wales have? Over a hundred years, and nothing has been unearthed!

Being told this by Knight, Conley was somewhat embarrassed, his face flush with embarrassment. He swallowed down a retort, and finally squeezed out a sentence:

"This Golden Battle Skirt belongs to Wales! As a Welshman, it is my duty to take it back!"

"Oh really?" Knight retorted sarcastically, "There are tens of thousands of Chinese cultural relics in the British Museum. You can have them return those to China, then talk to me about returning this Battle Skirt to you!"

With that statement, he successfully silenced Conley.

Connor quickly stepped in to smooth things over:

"Mr. Knight, don’t get upset, I assure you there won’t be a similar situation again. Also, please believe me, it was an accident!"

Knight, seeing that Connor was quite sincere, dropped the matter.

Seeing that Knight was no longer angry, Connor turned his head and sternly said to Conley:

"Mr. Conley, I reminded you before coming here, I hope you won’t get too excited! If there are similar actions again, I’m afraid I’ll have to ask you to leave!"
