Chapter 370: Chapter 279: It’s Impolite Not to Return a Favor! - 2

After their passionate kiss, Joanna tightly clung to Sean’s arm as they walked out together.

Sean felt guilty because of what happened with Cheryl, but that was not a matter he could openly discuss.

He decided to make it up in other ways.

The next morning, Joanna found herself unable to get out of bed.

The haul from this trip was simply too great. Sean’s upgraded spatial realm was filled to the brim.

He first went to the Old Villa. When Kathy saw that Sean had returned safe and sound, a smile spread across her face. She gently embraced Sean, then instructed the maid to pour tea and prepare food. After asking if Sean’s journey had been successful, she started to report on her work.

Sean currently owns over ten manors, farmhouses, ranches, and villas. Kathy manages all of these now.

As for the freight yard managed by Jason and others, Kathy would conduct regular financial checks, so all of Sean’s properties were under her purview.

Through the financial report, Sean was taken aback to discover that his total assets had risen to nearly thirty billion US dollars!

Moreover, these freight yards, farms, and ranches were generating roughly a million dollars every month for him!

That was truly impressive!

Sean was delighted.

Treasure hunting was a lucrative venture, but was not a sustainable long-term plan.

These were the more long-term assets.

Sean admitted to himself that he had a bit of a "landlord" mentality. Since he wasn’t born into a great fortune, he thought it was perfectly normal for him to have such a mindset.

Five days had passed by the time Joanna recovered back to her normal daily life and she was less clingy towards Sean.

While Joanna was in class, Sean visited the freight yard, met Jason and his two friends, stopped by the Seven Axes Pub to leave a gold coin for John, before heading back to the New Villa.

In the first floor of the villa, Sean brought out the black cross.

Through the Sky Eye, he could tell the cross had a history of over eight hundred years.

Sean surmised that this cross must have been kept in a grand cathedral and worshiped by the parishioners at least until before World War II.

Then it was stolen and stowed away in a dark mine cave.

Sean ran his hand over the cross, which was taller than a man, and once again felt the overwhelming power of faith it contained.

Instead of immediately trying to absorb its energy, he meticulously examined the cross.

The cross was made of some kind of treated wood to prevent decay and the Jesus figure "nailed" on it was black as well.

The craftsmanship was truly exquisite, the carved expressions of Jesus’s pain, along with a hint of pity in his eyes were very lifelike.

Luckily, as Sean only believed in his ancestors, he merely appreciated the face and the gaze for their artistic value.

He believed that if he were to put this cross up for sale, it could easily fetch several millions.

But he had no intention of selling it. Who knows if there are nosy investigators who could trace some leads from it.

As the aura of energy snapped him out of his thoughts,

It nevertheless became clear that manually absorbing the energy from it would be impossible because of some kind of barrier and blockage.

He considered for a moment, then lightly pressed his forehead against the cross.

Due to the height of the cross, Sean unintentionally ended up forehead to forehead with the figure of Jesus.

He only noticed it once he had made contact.

But the wave of energy that came afterward made Sean immediately forget this coincidence.

Closing his eyes, he relished in this flood of pure energy, and Sean immediately felt a newfound sense of fulfillment in his heart.

Then, he suddenly noticed, along with the energy, vast amounts of information were also being transferred— much like when he had previously absorbed information from the crystal skull.

However, in comparison to the information within the crystal skull, the information within the cross was far more vast and detailed!

The crusades, prayers of the believers, harsh court rulings, existence of heretics, and such...

To Sean’s amazement, there was even information on the study and cultivation of those with supernatural abilities!

Of course, back then they didn’t call it supernatural abilities; they were referred to as the ones blessed by God.

Although such information was scarce and fleeting, it was certainly intriguing.

Then he was again bombarded with a multitude of other information.

Of course, there was the hypocrisy of the missionaries, the falseness of the believers, the abuse of power in the courts, as well as the forced donations of the faithful, and so on.

Positive, negative, grand, petty, all sorts of information were present.

Real history intertwined with fabricated history, stunningly broadening Sean Knight’s horizons!

However, he didn’t have time to delve into each piece of information next, as unknowingly, the energy had already filled up, Sky Eye energy was compressing, but remained relatively full.

The energy then automatically entered the Jade Pendant, impacting the upgrade barrier of the Jade Space.

By now, only less than a third of the energy within the cross had been drained.

Sean Knight wondered if he were to release all the energy in the cross, his Sky Eye and spatial realm would probably both upgrade!

What puzzled him was that the energy within the Sky Eye was constantly expanding and compressing. In the end, Sean Knight felt as if this energy had solidified, yet there was still no breakthrough in that barrier.

Sean Knight suspected that there was a missing opportunity. Solely relying on energy to bombard it would not be sufficient.

However, the Jade Space seemed to be easier to bombard, and in no time, the barrier was breached again, advancing a level.

The Jade Space expanded by more than double in size, and the interior seemed a lot more spacious.

Energy was no longer being transferred, but a lot of information had been transmitted.

Sean Knight felt a bit dazed, he knew this was due to receiving too much information, causing the brain to temporarily adjust.

After resting for a bit, Sean Knight felt somewhat clearer.

Looking at his watch, he was surprised to find that the seemingly swift process of energy absorption had taken a full five to six hours!

He was even a bit hungry.

Not planning to order food - as the process of ordering food here - made him, who had enjoyed the half-hour delivery service back home, feel somewhat tortured.

He got into his car, phoned Kathy, and asked her to prepare some food.

Kathy happily agreed.

Sean Knight drove to the Old Villa, parked the car, and even before he opened the door, he could already smell the aroma of the food - he knew that his sense of smell was now extraordinarily sharp.

As he entered, Kathy greeted him with a smile, then suddenly stopped in her tracks.

Seeing the complex expressions of astonishment and joy or shock on Kathy’s face, Sean Knight felt puzzled and asked with concern:

"Ms. Kathy, what’s wrong? Is something odd?"

"Mr. Sean Knight, you..." Kathy was brought back by Sean Knight’s query, stepped forward, bowed respectfully, and then said:

"I’m Feeling... you have a kind of sacred aura that is inspiring my reverence. Even now it’s the same feeling."

Sean Knight immediately understood, this was due to the cross.

"Oh, I am still me." Sean Knight vaguely explained, laughed and said, "It’s just because of some recent opportunities that I’ve had, there’s been a bit of a change."

Sean Knight was still the polite, courteous yet slightly intimate Sean Knight, which made Kathy feel somewhat flattered.

Yes, she admitted to herself, this was how she felt.

Kathy accepted Sean Knight’s employment in large part because of Jeremy Knight, because of this villa, because she had worked here for over twenty years.

Just like how you can’t leave your homeland, thinking also has its inertia.

Once you’re used to something, you don’t want to change.

Of course, there was also the consideration of looking after this younger descendant for Jeremy Knight, after all compared to Elson, Sean Knight was more like the man who liked to take risks.

But from this moment today, Kathy felt, Sean Knight had changed. He had become a natural superior, a noble. Being able to treat him in this manner, Kathy instinctively felt it was an honor, her own honor.

She kept trying to tell herself that this was a misunderstanding, but this feeling of being honored was becoming even more profound!

Sean Knight was straightforward, he knew what caused it, so he didn’t feel anything. He figured in a few days, once the energy was absorbed, everything should be fine.

Upon sitting down to eat, Kathy was very respectful, which made Sean Knight feel a bit embarrassed. He asked her to act more informally, but Kathy felt even more that this was Sean Knight’s humble demeanor, which was quite rare.

This made Sean Knight a bit embarrassed.

However, he was hungry and simply decided to focus on eating.

Sean Knight thought it was only Kathy who had this misunderstanding, but he didn’t expect that because of this energy, the world had changed!
