Chapter 369: Chapter 279: It’s Impolite Not to Return a Favor!

Since the case hadn’t been closed yet, Sean and his team couldn’t leave for the time being.

When they got back to the hotel, after Elijah had heard about the whole situation and Sean’s suspicions, he went to discuss with Lincoln and Douglas.

Sean had wanted to ask if his help was needed, but Elijah waved his hand and said,

"Boss, we’ve already gotten so much money; if you still have to get involved in this stuff, it’d make us look useless, wouldn’t it?"

Sean was curious about how Elijah and his team found Heine and his group.

But since Elijah wasn’t telling, Sean didn’t ask either.

From then on, Sean pretty much stayed in his deluxe room, occasionally video chatting with others, or playing games and the like.

That day, Heine was at the villa and David was there too.

"The people we sent to kidnap Sean were caught, and until now, we still haven’t been able to get them out. Plus, we have to clear our names regarding this issue."

Heine was very troubled. This had to be done, and he had chosen an elite group of four dispatched by the organization.

But not only did they fail to capture Sean, but they were also beaten, captured, and sent to the police station.

Worst of all, they even had guns on them. Guns are illegal in France, so this was a huge problem.

Initially, they could’ve been released on bail, but now, it’s impossible. This was a serious crime!

David knew about this and understood; if it were him, he would have done it by now.

So he reassured Heine,

"It should be fine. Although they were carrying guns, they didn’t actually hurt anyone. At most, they’ll be fined. If they have to go to jail, we can always use our connections to pay and get them out."

"That’s all we can do." Heine nodded, changing the subject. "How’s your side of things going?"

"Not good." David shook his head. "I investigated the few ancient castles Sean had been to. Three of them had German troops lurking nearby at the time. I spent money to enter those three with metal detectors but found nothing."

"What about other places? It might not be in the castle but somewhere else?" Heine asked, resting his chin. "Have you investigated locally? Places like military camps, warehouses, or mountain mines that were used at the time?"

The Schutzstaffel liked to hide things in places like these, including the basements of commandeered villas.

Heine and his team had some experience searching for such treasures.

David shook his head, saying,

"No, I thought that since Sean visited the castles, the treasure would likely be in one of them."

Suddenly, he remembered something and said,

"Oh, right! When I was talking to the castle’s administrator, he mentioned that one night they felt the ground shaking. But when they checked the next day, there was no earthquake."

"The ground was shaking?" Heine’s eyes lit up. "Could it be from using a large amount of explosives?"

"It’s possible!" David’s initial train of thought had been confined to the castles, but now that it had been expanded, he immediately thought of many suspicious aspects. "Perhaps it was an underground bunker or mine being blasted open using explosives?"

"What about the timing?" Heine asked, narrowing in. "Does it match up?"

"Hold on, let me check!" David immediately pulled out his mobile phone to check the photos-

"Yes! It was the night they went out!"

"That’s it!" Heine was overjoyed. "No need to contact Sean anymore. You’re staying here tonight, then head back first thing tomorrow!

Sean and his team have nothing to do with this, and they didn’t have time to take it. The treasure must be in the place they found! We’ll prioritize finding it!"

David nodded, looking excited,

"What’s inside this treasure, I wonder?"

"If what Sean and his team found is indeed the treasure, its value... "

"Based on our previous understanding, the hiding spots recorded by Brad were all medium to large-sized. The value of the treasures inside starts at a hundred million at the very least!"

The moment he said this, David’s face flushed red with excitement!

The treasures that each team found in the organization would be returned according to a certain proportion. One hundred million U.S. dollars would mean each person could get a share of several million!

That’s wealth!

That night, David stayed in Heine’s Villa.

At night, three dark figures quietly approached the villa from the outside.

They had already scouted the area during the day and figured out the location of the supervisor.

That’s why, at night, they sneakily entered the courtyard, easily opened a window from the back and climbed in.

There was no conversation, and they acted entirely based on hand gestures.

Two of them went upstairs, while one of them went downstairs.

Using infrared night vision, they saw that there was someone in the master bedroom and someone in the guest room. There were only the two of them in the villa, with no servants.

They quietly opened the bedroom door and fired several shots at the bed with a silenced gun.

It was the same up and downstairs.

They waited until the person’s vital signs had disappeared, and the infrared night vision saw them turn cold before they quietly left.

No one had been alerted.

The three of them changed out of their clothes and their guns in the car, threw the used clothes several kilometers away into a trash can, and then went back to the hotel, stealthily entering their rooms.

The next day, when Sean saw Elijah nodding at him, he knew the matter had been resolved.

He sighed quietly to himself.

Initially, he didn’t plan on going this far with Heine and the others, but they were being so overbearing. If he didn’t fight back, he was afraid he would end up being hunted down all over the world.

Two days later, once the police had closed the case, Sean and his team quietly left Paris and returned to New York.

Joanna knew that Sean had come back and was waiting for him at the airport early on.
