Chapter 366: Chapter 277: This Quantity is Too Large! _2
"Boss, don’t worry, we are professionals in this field." Elijah Hastings smiled.
The other two also showed confidence on their faces.
Indeed, in this field, they were truly professionals.
By evening, they had gathered intelligence.
Lincoln Harrington watched the suspect, while Douglas Cooper occasionally appeared in the room pretending to be someone else. Then Elijah Hastings came to Sean Knight to report:
"There’s just one group of people, mainly watching the area. They seem to be collecting information and keeping surveillance. Two of them, one in the lobby pretending to read the newspaper, and another one in a car across from the hotel. They are working together."
"Will they stay overnight?" Sean Knight was somewhat worried, as he planned to go back to the mountain mine at midnight.
"I don’t think so," Elijah Hastings said. "I gave some money to a waiter to find out. There was no one in the lobby last night when we went out. We didn’t bump into anyone either."
Sean remembered that last night, when they snuck out at midnight, they hadn’t disturbed the staff and hadn’t noticed anyone in the lobby either.
"That’s good. Keep an eye on them, and we’ll make a move at midnight."
Although Sean Knight wasn’t sleepy, he forced himself to lie down and rest, hoping to fall asleep.
After all, he had to stay up all night and expend a lot of energy.
When midnight arrived, Sean got up, took out an empty backpack, put it on his back, and opened the door to find that Elijah Hastings’s door was slightly ajar. He then opened it.
"Boss, the man who was watching is asleep now."
"Good, let’s go!"
When they arrived at the hotel lobby, sure enough, it was completely deserted, even the receptionist was asleep.
Douglas Cooper stealthily came in from the outside and said:
"The man watching outside withdrew two hours ago. It’s safe to go out now, and the car is already running."
Knowing that the boss was bringing people out for a mission, Douglas Cooper and Lincoln Harrington understood that there was no need to ask questions.
There was usually something good happening.
As they arrived at the mine with ease, Elijah asked Sean:
"Boss, do you need me to help inside?"
"No need," Sean replied. "Leave a walkie-talkie, and if I need help, I’ll call you."
He left a walkie-talkie with Elijah Hastings and then headed into the mine.
This time, he walked directly into the mine on the right and noticed that the construction was quite different from the previous two mines.
The mine on the right was almost as spacious as the one in the middle, but the track was somewhat better, and the wear and tear seemed deeper. The signs of usage were more evident than in the previous two mines.
Although it had been decades, the track’s wear and tear could still be seen.
If it weren’t for the knowledge that there was something else inside, one might only think that the reason for the wear was the greater amount of ore being mined here.
Thinking about the treasure he was about to find, Sean became excited and sped up his pace.
However, what surprised him next was the complexity of the interior. Numerous mines connected horizontally wasted much of his time.
A large amount of energy was consumed, and after about two hours, Sean stopped to rest.
Feeling that he had lost a lot of energy, he decided to take out the Terracotta Figurines and replenish his energy.
That’s when he discovered the gold statue that had been taken out of the marsh.
He conveniently took out the figurine.
Upon seeing the gold figurine inside the cave, Sean was astonished to find that there was no energy fluctuation on it at all!
And it was hollow!
The entire gold figurine weighed about 200-300 kilograms.
Thankfully, there were some unrecognizable characters on it — perhaps an expert could appraise it to be worth more than regular gold of the same weight.
He put away the gold figurine and took out six terracotta figurines to absorb energy.
After absorbing energy from the six figurines, Sean checked the spatial realm and found that there were less than fifty terracotta figurines left and more than a hundred masks, as well as dozens of gold scepters that had not been absorbed.
He suddenly felt that he needed to find a place to store or sell the sacrificial implements that had absorbed energy.
Otherwise, having too many stored would not be very useful.
Energy was absorbed sufficiently, and he put away the terracotta figurines and continued walking inside.
In a horizontal corridor, Sean was shocked to find a large pit containing dozens of skeletons!
There were signs of injuries on the skeletons, and holes — Sean guessed that they had been killed by gunshots.
A thin layer of mine sand covered the skeletons, and there were traces of rodents nearby.
Apparently, after killing these people, their killers hastily buried their remains, and many of the skeletons had since become food for rats.
Now there were almost no small animals to be seen in the corridor, as there was no food, so they had likely left.
Suppressing his discomfort, Sean Knight continued to move down.
He noticed that there were more bullet shells.
They were scattered among the ores, and if not observed carefully, they would not be seen.
When he was still a distance away from the cross-corridor of the lowest mine cave, Sean hesitated for a moment but proceeded towards the corridor.
Not long after, he saw a corpse crushed under the ores—this skeleton was wearing German military uniform!
Sean’s heartbeat quickened a bit, which further confirmed that this place was the target he was looking for!
As he continued inside, he saw a few more corpses, all in original German military uniforms.
There were soldiers and military officers.
Onwards, he reached a dead-end.
There was chaotic ore and some cave walls that looked no different from the surroundings.
If an ordinary person rummaged through this pile of ores, they would leave it be.
But Sean had the Sky Eye, and upon focusing, he saw that the cave wall was camouflaged!
The huge ores were pieced together with smaller ores filling the crevices between them, creating an adhesive that made the camouflage very convincing!
Even if a professional miner came by, if they did not scrutinize carefully, they might think that this was a discarded mine that had been abandoned upon reaching this point.
In reality, about two meters inside, there was a steel gate.
The inside of the gate was filled with numerous cabinets and boxes.
From what Sean could see at the moment, there were quite a few weapons and ammunition in the cabinets.
Further inside, there were some messily placed picture frames, some wrapped up and some just casually left there.
As far as Sean could tell, some of the oil paintings were already damaged.
Even further, he could not see much due to the range limitations of the Sky Eye.
This mine cave was extremely deep!
But to see what else was inside, he had to blast open the camouflaged outer ore wall.
Sean activated his Sky Eye and looked upwards.
Thankfully, the rock structure at the top was quite sturdy, without any visible cracks.
Only towards the bottom, between the camouflaged ores, were tiny crevices.
Sean had something explosive in his spatial realm, and he also knew how to place it and set off the fuse.
However, he really had no idea about directional or charge matters.
Should he call in Elijah Hastings?
Sean hesitated for a moment and decided not to.
He would give it a try first!
Mainly because he planned to move some of those items into his spatial realm, and calling in Elijah would make it difficult to explain later.
So Sean simply took out two book-sized blocks from his spatial realm and stuck them on the area of the ore wall with the most crevices, set a 30-second timer, activated it, and then turned and ran!
Fearing it would set off a chain reaction, Sean hurriedly ran to the fork before stopping.
Furthermore, he was also ready to keep running out if anything went wrong.
His main concern was that besides the paintings and weapons, he saw nothing else.
Although Sean guessed that there must be good things inside, since he did not see them, he would not place too much importance on them.
"Boom, Boom!"
He first felt the vibrations from the ground and then two muffled sounds almost connected together. Sean could feel that many ores must have fallen on that side, but he did not know if the mine cave had collapsed.
Sean waited for a moment before finding no problem under his feet and then continued to walk in.
Before long, he saw a puff of smoke and dust rushing towards him.
He quickly dodged to the side of a mine pit and took out a gas mask from his spatial realm and put it on.
There were a lot of miscellaneous items in the spatial realm, and they were put to use at this time.
Waiting for the smoke and dust to pass, he then walked straight in.
He walked all the way to the entrance of the cross-corridor mine cave.
Looking inside, the chaotic ores were piled up everywhere, the original flat mine cave floor was no longer possible to tread on.
Collapsed and exploded ores covered the mine cave. Thankfully, the cave was tall enough for him to still walk through.
Sean walked all the way to where he had placed the explosives, and then he finally saw that not only had the two-meter camouflaged stone wall been blasted open at two points, revealing an almost meter-wide hole, but the iron gate inside had also been blasted and dented inward quite a bit!
