Chapter 358: Chapter 274: What to Do When Encountering a Military Inspection?

Cheryl was startled upon hearing the news, unsure how to decide.

Sean Knight was only seven or eight meters away in the water, speaking to Cheryl:

"Tell Eric that we’ll be back in two hours."

"We’ll be back in two hours." Cheryl repeated Sean’s words. "You can handle it on your own there. We’ll hurry. Over."

Cheryl was very happy. After all, if Eric found the treasure, she could get a share–a fairly large one at that!

Sean Knight knew he had to hurry.

He walked into the water with his shovel, where it was still shallow, below his knees, occasionally shoveling underwater.

Cheryl was a bit nervous, watching the water reach Sean’s thighs and chest. Just as she was about to yell for him to come back, she saw him suddenly sink!

"Ah––!"

Cheryl screamed, desperately trying to rush into the water, but Elijah Hastings hurried over from his patrol nearby and held her back:

"Don’t be impulsive! Our boss is definitely fine. Don’t panic!"

Cheryl didn’t believe him and struggled, shouting:

"That’s marshland... "

Elijah pulled her ashore and said:

"Exactly. Because it’s marshland, there won’t be any danger; marshland usually doesn’t sink someone right away, it usually happens slowly. Silt also has some qualities. Only deep water would suddenly sink... "

While talking, Sean’s head emerged from the water, holding a wooden board in his hand:

"I found something!"

When Cheryl saw Sean Knight resurface, her heart which had leapt to her mouth finally eased and she sat on the ground, then happily exclaimed:

"Are you all right? That’s terrific; you scared me to death... "

Sean had not expected to scare Cheryl. He just wanted to quickly retrieve the object.

In fact, after diving, he mainly fumbled in the silt for a while. Otherwise, he would have surfaced earlier.

"There’s something underwater. I think it’s necessary to get it out." Sean said in the water. "Don’t worry. I’ll go down and check again."

With that, he dived in once more.

Now, the water was already muddied, barely showing any movement. Sean had already explored the top of a sunken horse carriage two meters underwater and covered in about ten centimeters of silt.

Actually, if it weren’t for the fact that the ground further down had become hard, the horse carriage, along with the golden figurine, might have continued to sink.

From the surface, the four to five meters underground was hard ground that hadn’t softened, so it couldn’t sink any further.

Sean’s ability to hold his breath was very strong. After prying open the wooden boards on top of the carriage, he grabbed the golden figurine and stored it in his spatial realm.

As something suddenly vanished, the water rushed down at once.

Fortunately for this deep-water area, the amount of water was not enough to cause any consequences. Next was the box of gold coins in the second carriage.

Swimming over, Sean decided to ascertain the location but didn’t want to arouse more suspicion. He only took off a rusty piece of metal ornament from the carriage and then surfaced.

The water was a bit cold; although Sean would not get sick, he felt uncomfortable.

Additionally, the underwater creatures were disturbed, and the chaotic fish made him uneasy.

Seeing Sean’s head emerge, Cheryl hurriedly asked:

"How are you feeling? The water is cold. Are you uncomfortable?"

"I’m fine." Sean threw the ornament ashore and said, "There should be a carriage underwater. I’ll see if I can salvage more things. By the way, pass me a roll of rope."

Elijah threw him a roll of rope and then planned to dive in with him.

"Don’t come in; be on guard on the shore."Sean quickly waved Elijah off. Elijah didn’t know the area, nor did he have a Sky Eye or diving equipment. Going in would only cause trouble.

Elijah obeyed, and Sean dived back in with the rope.

Ashore, Cheryl slowly cleaned the dirt off the silver ornament and carefully observed the pattern on it.

Sean dived into the water, reaching the top of the carriage. With his eyes closed, guided purely by Sky Eye, he scraped away the mud to reveal the big box filled with gold coins.

The box was made of iron-wrapped wood. Sean knocked on it, and since it was hardwood, he didn’t feel it had decayed, so it should still be able to withstand the weight.

He tied the rope to the box’s handle and began to clear the silt around it.

Fortunately, the carriage had sunk as a whole, and the surrounding mud was fairly loose—after some simple cleaning, the bottom was exposed.

Sean pulled the rope to the water’s surface, then tried to give it a tug; feeling it was okay, he tossed the rope ashore and told Elijah:

"Try pulling it; I’m going to move underwater to see if we can pull it out."

With the buoyancy of water, although the box filled with gold coins weighed a hundred or two hundred kilograms, it wasn’t too heavy.

Sean went underwater again, feeling Elijah had straightened out the rope. He then began to lift the box to float up.

Not bad, there was movement!

The box rose about half a meter before the rope suddenly ripped off the handle along with half the lid!

Then the box fell back down again.

Sean gave a wry smile, deciding to stop trying to pull out the box and instead just pull out the gold coins.

He surfaced and asked Elijah to throw him a backpack to store the gold coins he salvaged from the box underwater.

At that moment, the walkie-talkie sounded again:

"Hurry up! There’re military personnel appearing! I’m... no, no! They’re coming! Save me!"

Then the walkie-talkie was switched off!

When Sean appeared with a backpack of gold coins, the last sentence in the walkie-talkie had just ended!
