Chapter 357: Chapter 273: Fall Into the Marshland_3

They had no plans to go there.

"We’ve made some discoveries too," said Sean Knight again, "We’ll see the results tomorrow. If we find nothing, we’ll head to your site. Over."

With that, he turned off the walkie-talkie.

Looking at the gold in the marsh, Sean sighed, feeling disappointed.

However, half a loaf of bread is better than none.

At this moment, Elijah Hastings and his two companions had already found a suitable location and started setting up their tents.

Cheryl had once again set up her tent next to Sean’s.

Then it was time for exploration and excavation.

This time, Sean acted more swiftly.

This place was even closer to the boundary than before, and he didn’t want to experience another attack.

Elijah and Douglas further ventured out to keep watch, while Lincoln stayed close to Sean and Cheryl to patrol and protect.

Barely some time had passed before Sean was already digging out more than ten arrowhead-like metal fragments, which amazed Cheryl.

"How did you locate them? You didn’t even use a metal detector," Cheryl was curious.

"I understand feng shui," said Sean, who was used to tricking foreigners with feng shui.

After all, they could never comprehend it.

To learn feng shui, they would at least have to learn Chinese, wouldn’t they?

After learning Chinese, they would also still have to study ancient scripts such as the Book of Changes, right?

It could take three to five years to learn Chinese well, that too the standard language. The Book of Changes, however, is Classica Chinese. How many people, including Chinese, could now fluently read and understand Classical Chinese as written in the Book of Changes?

Hence, Sean was not worried about being exposed.

Upon hearing his explanation, Cheryl was immediately awestruck.

Then she began following Sean closely, trying to learn — but she couldn’t really notice any difference in the surroundings.

At most, there was an extra swamp, or one could say, a shallow lake.

If there was a radar to scan, it would be a bit better, as it could reveal what was hidden within the swamp.

Foreign treasure hunters primarily relied on science and technology. Cheryl held in her possession a compact folding metal detector.

She scanned the water’s edge for a moment and, finding nothing, joined Sean in his search.

Sean slowly reached the periphery of the swamp where the golden figure had sunk.

As night fell, he told Lincoln to call everyone back.

"We’re close to the frontier here, let’s eat quickly and retire to the tents. No lights, no fire at night, and keep quiet. We will continue tomorrow."

No one had any objections.

After checking in with Eric Barber, Sean turned off his walkie-talkie. He was worried that it might suddenly make a noise in the middle of the night, which could alarm the others.

The next day, they got up early and packed up their tents.

This time, Elijah stayed behind, while Lincoln and Douglas went ahead to stand guard. Sean and Cheryl continued their search here.

While searching, Sean ended up wading into the water.

Cheryl, a bit worried, stood at the water’s edge and warned,

"This is a marsh, be careful!"

"Don’t worry, I have experience," Sean waved off her concerns.

He had no such experience, but he did have the Sky Eye showing him where in the water the silt was and where the solid ground was, so he dared to step in.

Cheryl, unaware of this, looked on in admiration, thinking that Sean was indeed experienced.

Sean didn’t want to keep this up any longer. If he continued like this, Cheryl would be sticking closer to him soon.

At that moment, the walkie-talkie buzzed to life.

Cheryl picked up and asked,

"This is Sean and Cheryl’s squad, what’s the situation?"

Eric Barber’s voice came through:

"We’ve found a large metal-reactive area underground here, we need your assistance!"
