Chapter 351: Chapter 271: Gunshots!

A night without any incidents, very safe.

Sean Knight and the others slept very well.

In the morning when they got up to wash, Sean Knight was surprised to see that Eric Barber, Van Derick, and Cheryl Suweton all looked very tired.

They hadn’t rested well.

Sean Knight and the others didn’t say anything, as their constitutions were no longer like ordinary people’s, they could sleep quickly without picking a bed and would sleep well when awakened.

"Mr. Sean Knight, did you guys not hear any noise around dawn?"

Eric Barber couldn’t help but ask at breakfast when he saw Sean Knight and the others looking so spirited.

His question also caught the attention of Van Derick and Cheryl Suweton.

Although Van Derick’s two women didn’t look up, their ears twitched, clearly they were listening too.

"I know about it." Sean Knight said while breaking up the dry food and throwing it into the boiling porridge:

"It was probably a group of wild boars, right? That’s the time when wild boars come out to eat, there should have been about a dozen or so?"

Eric Barber grew even more curious:

"You guys could still sleep with the commotion that the wild boars were making?"

"We could sleep. Anyway, since someone else is on guard, we don’t need to worry." Sean Knight clapped his hands, picked up the spoon, and stirred the pot while saying:

"For us treasure hunters, camping in the wild is nothing special. So we’ve developed the habit of waking up quickly in case of an emergency and falling asleep quickly if nothing happens."

Blaming this on the habits that treasure hunters should develop, Sean Knight spoke with conviction.

The others shook their heads.

That might be true, but not everyone can develop such a habit.

Especially for those with a more anxious nature, it is very difficult to wake up once they fall asleep deeply.

However, some couldn’t help but think of Sean Knight and the others as lazybones.

After eating and cleaning up, the convoy set off again.

Along the way, Sean Knight noticed that the convoy was heading for unpopulated areas and barely encountering any big cities. They didn’t even stop when passing through villages, just kept driving.

Rest and meal breaks were taken in the wild, and gradually the others became more accustomed to this.

Van Derick’s two women, on the other hand, never seemed to adapt, suffering from severe sleep deprivation, and perhaps for other reasons, they had dark circles under their eyes that couldn’t be hidden by makeup.

Three days later, the convoy stopped by a riverbank.

It was afternoon.

After getting out of the car, the hired mercenaries conscientiously guarded the area, and Eric Barber called Sean Knight and the others over to say:

"Now we are already in the Dnieper River basin. Less than 100 kilometers southeast of here is Ukraine."

"The area we are in now is actually the base camp for our treasure hunting. The car will camp here, and the supplies will be left here."

Starting tomorrow, we will explore the possibility of the gold convoy vanishing within a range of thirty to forty kilometers in the vicinity."

The others naturally had no objections, and Sean Knight went back to the car and told Elijah Hastings about the situation.

Next, team leader Phil, in charge of the hired mercenaries, directed everyone to encircle the cars and then instructed them to set up their tents by the vehicles.

"What’s the point of this? To make a bigger target?" Douglas Cooper murmured, obviously having a different opinion about this arrangement.

"Just do what he says," said Sean Knight, "you guys need to keep a low profile for now."

Better not to cause trouble before treasure hunting.

Sean Knight thought about watching and learning from a group of professionals on how they go about treasure hunting.

After all, his success depended on the Sky Eye’s help. What if there’s no Sky Eye? How would he go about treasure hunting?

After setting up the campsite, everyone started preparing the supplies they would need for tomorrow’s departure.

Sean Knight and the others prepared only the most rudimentary supplies, as they had everything they needed in their spatial realm.

At this point, Elijah Hastings came to Sean Knight and asked:

"Boss, should we bring up the gun situation with them? At least we should pretend about it?"

Sean Knight immediately understood.

Even though he had already given guns to the three mercenaries, he couldn’t leave Eric Barber out of the loop. He needed to play his part.

He set the package aside and went to ask Eric Barber if he could provide firearms.

Eric Barber smiled and said:

"Don’t worry. Our hired security personnel carry weapons. Although guns are not banned in Belarus, you need a gun license and have to use them in designated places, and those guns are not very powerful, so..."

He pointed to his car nearby and said:

"When we start tomorrow, there will be weapons, but not guns."

Sean Knight understood.

He glanced at Eric Barber and saw that he had a pistol on him.

Damn it.

Sean Knight didn’t say anything else.

After returning and relaying Eric Barber’s words, Elijah Hastings and the other two kept quiet as well.

Seeing that the situation was under control at Sean Knight’s end, Eric Barber relaxed.

It was necessary to be vigilant.

After dinner that evening and arranging for the night watch, Eric Barber called over Sean Knight and the others again, saying:

"Starting tomorrow, the four of us will look for possible clues about the treasure’s whereabouts in four different directions. I’ll give a walkie-talkie to each team. Cheryl, I’ll have a hired mercenary follow you to ensure your safety."

"No need!" Cheryl Suweton immediately refused, "I can manage by myself!"

Sean Knight glanced at Cheryl and saw that she actually had a gun!

Where did she get her gun?

Since Cheryl refused, Eric Barber did not insist and continued to say: "After departing, contact immediately if you encounter any situation. Because of the terrain, driving is not possible, so be prepared to have lunch and even stay overnight in the wild."
