Chapter 299: Chapter 245: Something’s Strange About This!

"My relatives live a bit far." Alistair Murray explained in the car, "We might have to drive for a while."

"No problem, we have plenty of time anyway." Sean Knight wasn’t in a hurry. This trip was his own treasure hunt, and there was no one chasing him to hurry on the road, so he naturally didn’t worry.

Alistair Murray was relieved to hear that. He pointed the way, and Elijah Hastings drove in front, followed by Lincoln Harrington’s car, and two hours later, they arrived at another small town.

"Come on, let me show you the authentic Kazakh style." Arriving here, Alistair Murray’s demeanor suddenly became cheerful, as he introduced them enthusiastically to the shops and buildings on both sides.

Sean Knight listened to him with a smile, understanding Alistair Murray’s feelings at this time.

Since Alistair Murray had been hired as a translator, he had been in a vulnerable position, whether it was encountering robbers or going to the Ruin Site, he had always been following behind Sean and his friends.

Whether it was saying that he had picked up his life or his wealth, Alistair Murray was always in a passive position.

For a young man, this was indeed a bit stifling.

Of course, there was also a sense of gratitude in it.

Alistair Murray had always wanted to repay the kindness he had received from others, but it was clear that they were not lacking in money, and as they were all from the Northwest, the things he could find were not rare to them. So he thought of his relatives on this side.

"Our family’s tribe has a part in West Province, Chauncey’s side, and another part here."

"In Chauncey?" Sean Knight was surprised, "We were just there before. Oh, when we were there, we saw blue flags hanging in some villages, what are they?"

"Those are the flags for nobles or something in the tribe," Alistair Murray explained, somewhat unexpectedly. "So they have the right to hang flags. Of course, we don’t pay much attention to that nowadays, but there are still some elders who care about it."

Indeed, some people cared very much, after all, even the mention of connecting patterns had been said.

"This is the house." Alistair Murray pointed to a courtyard with a blue wall.

The courtyard was quite large, and now it was early summer, the mulberry trees and planted flowers at the entrance were growing beautifully.

The car stopped at the entrance, and Alistair led them out of the car, and people came out from inside.

An elderly woman wearing a headscarf from the Kazakh nationality saw Alistair Murray and squinted for a moment, then burst into laughter.

Alistair Murray went forward with a smile, bent down to hug the old lady, and then pointed to Sean and his friends saying a few words. The old lady gestured with both hands, and Sean understood that it meant to welcome them.

Two fifteen or sixteen-year-old Kazakh girls then came out from the courtyard, curiously looking at the guests.

Seeing Alistair Murray, the curiosity on the girls’ faces instantly turned to happiness, and they came forward, chatting with him.

Sean guessed that Alistair Murray must have come here often, as it seemed that the people in this house were familiar with him.

Alistair Murray spoke a few words to the two girls, then turned his head and said with a smile to Sean and his friends:

"This is my grandmother, and these two are my sisters. Their parents are not home... they’ll be back at noon. Come in!"

Sean and the others greeted the old lady with a smile, and smiled at the two girls before following Alistair into the courtyard. The two girls shyly ran into the courtyard with their heads down, laughing.

The courtyard was quite large and very clean. It looked a bit like a farmyard in the West Province, with vegetables planted in the front, a grape trellis in front of the house, and a row of small houses by the wall, probably a kitchen.

The ground was paved with decorative tiles, and the house’s foundation was raised quite high. But Alistair Murray didn’t invite them into the room; instead, they sat down in front of the wooden bed under the grape trellis.

At this time, the grapevines on the trellis were already covered with leaves. Occasionally, sunlight filtered through the leaves, and with the breeze blowing, it was very comfortable.

There was a metal water tank next to the trellis, below it was a washbasin, and a towel hung on the wire beside it.

Without needing Alistair to introduce them, Sean and Elijah went to wash their hands, followed by Lincoln and Douglas Cooper.

After they washed their hands, the elderly Kazakh woman and a thirty-something Kazakh woman wearing a headscarf came over with a teapot and bowl, and Sean knew they were about to have milk tea first.

Two girls followed behind, each holding two flat plates with four glass goblets, containing almonds, dried apricots, raisins, and other dried fruits and assorted candies.

The sisters put down the plates, arranged the items on the long wooden table next to the wooden bed, then shyly went back inside, and Sean could still hear their laughter.

"This is my aunt," Alistair introduced the thirty-something woman, then spoke a few words in Kazakh to her. The woman shyly smiled at Sean and the others, but didn’t say anything.

The woman first rinsed the bowl with clear water, then poured milk into it, added a spoonful of cream, and finally poured brick tea made with boiling water through a tea strainer, then handed it to Sean with both hands.

Sean quickly took the bowl with his right hand while pressing his left hand to his chest and placed it on the table.

The other three followed suit.

The old lady laughed as she handed the bowl to Alistair’s aunt and watched Sean and the others’ actions.

When the two younger sisters came out again, they were carrying flat plates with crusty pancakes and small bowls filled with honey, cream, and butter.

Alistair took a sip of the milk tea and said with a smile, "Let’s have some snacks first, and then my aunt will make some delicious food for us later."
