Chapter 298: Chapter 244: The Goal is Getting Closer, Danger is Getting Closer!_2

Alistair Murray was somewhat surprised and pointed to himself, asking:

"Can I dig too?"

"Go ahead, this is a place of unexpected fortune, and whether you can find anything depends on you."

Upon hearing that, Alistair Murray happily grabbed a shovel from the car and followed them into the ruin site.

He didn’t care whether the site needed to be protected—nor did Sean Knight.

Upon entering the site, Sean looked around and realized that it was probably a military camp, or a garrison town.

That’s because wherever he looked, he saw arrowheads and broken sword fragments, and many of the arrowheads were still intact, with traces of the arrow shafts remaining. So it didn’t seem like the aftermath of a war.

Since there were no shovels left in the car, Sean simply used a sleight of hand to take a folding engineer shovel from his backpack and walked into the ruin site.

"Hahaha, there are indeed good things here! Look what I dug up!"

Douglas Cooper’s proud laughter sounded from a distance. Sean looked over to see him holding a rusty iron sword in his hand.

"Keep digging, that thing isn’t worth much," Elijah Hastings commented.

"There’re many things here, I don’t believe it!" Hearing that it wasn’t worth anything, Douglas Cooper began to doubt, but in the end, he discarded the iron sword and found a new spot to dig.

Alistair Murray had never dug before and was looking for a suitable place to do so. He heard Douglas Cooper’s voice, saw him throw away the iron sword, and then change location. After thinking about it, he went over and asked:

"Douglas, are you not digging here anymore?"

"No, I’m not."

"Can I dig here?"

"Go ahead!" Douglas Cooper glanced up and agreed, not bothered anymore.

Alistair Murray continued to dig down from the hole Douglas Cooper had dug about 30 centimeters.

Sean looked over and smiled.

This Alistair Murray was indeed a lucky fool. Not far beneath the hole that Douglas Cooper had dug were several silver ingots and a small gold ingot.

If Douglas Cooper had been more patient, he would have found the unexpected fortune.

When Sean looked over at Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington, he noticed they were digging at a ruin of a house, but there was nothing valuable underneath, just a pile of arrowheads.

As Sean was watching, he suddenly turned his head to look in the northwest direction of the ruin site.

He faintly felt as if someone was observing them over there.

However, when he turned his head to look, he didn’t find anything.

Was he just being too sensitive?

Sean muttered to himself, then began digging as well.

Soon, excited shouts came from Alistair Murray’s side.

Hearing the conversation between Alistair Murray and Douglas Cooper, Sean went over, pretending to look surprised. He also gave his evaluation, pointing out the silver ingot among the blackened but mistaken iron pieces held by Alistair Murray.

From a distance, behind a small hill, two herdsmen were discussing.

The younger one, about twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, asked, "Brother, should we intervene?"

"No," the older, sturdy man, about thirty years old, said, "As long as they don’t go near our settlement, this abandoned military city can bear their disturbance."

"Didn’t our father tell us to keep an eye on them and prevent them if we could?" The young herdsman was puzzled.

"I don’t care!" The older brother was getting annoyed, "We’ve been looking at this place for so many years and generations, I’ve had enough! I don’t even know when they’ll be done!

Besides, there’s only two of us. How can we stop them? If you ask me, it would be better if they dig up what we’re guarding!"

"Brother, how can you think like that?" The younger brother was shocked and surprised.

"Why can’t I? Just because our ancestors said so, we’ve been guarding this place for so many years! We’ve never had a good education, and even when we finished it, we had to come back here and guard it... I’ve had enough of these rules! I’ve guarded it for my whole life, and I don’t want my son to guard it too..."

Sean didn’t know that a few hundred meters away, behind the hill, there were people discussing their life’s fate because of their presence.

At this point, Sean had already found a spot and started digging.

This place used to be the residence of a minor official or a wealthy family in the military camp.

Below, there is a small box filled with silver ingots and gold ingots.

Sean Knight guessed that this should be a leftover from the Mongols at the time, having stolen gold and silver, and turned them directly into these irregular gold and silver ingots.

Later on, the people in this military town never came back, perhaps because they went out to fight and didn’t return or for other reasons, and the place was abandoned. The original items left here gradually became ownerless.

At this time, under Sean’s hints and guidance, Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington had also changed places and found their own gains.

So when they saw Sean digging out a whole box of gold and silver ingots, Douglas Cooper said enviously:

"The boss sure is the boss! Your eye and luck are better than ours!"

Sean laughed and said:

"There’s not a small amount of stuff here, let’s keep digging."

Anyway, Sean was in no hurry on this trip, and more gains were always good. He even wondered whether he wouldn’t find anything at the marked location in his mind’s map, and that these would be the biggest gains now.

The group dug in the ruins for three days, and everyone gained a lot. Even Alistair Murray got several gold and silver ingots, a jar of fairly well-preserved copper coins, and a decent-looking dagger.

The items that could be dug out and still in good condition were basically stored in boxes or other containers.

Those exposed outside or directly placed on shelves in rooms were either robbed long ago or had eroded due to the long passage of time.

Although they were tired during the three days, everyone was happy.

According to the rules, Sean had discovered this place, and as the boss, the items naturally belonged to him.

But Sean didn’t find people or keep it all to himself; instead, he let everyone dig together, and whatever someone found by luck was theirs.

So everyone was very happy.

Then Alistair Murray started worrying:

"How can we take all this stuff away? Even if we go back to our country, we can’t take it away!"

Elijah Hastings and the others didn’t answer but looked at Sean.

Sean laughed:

"Leave this matter to me. However, there’s a 30% handling fee."

Alistair Murray thought for a while and said:

"No problem, thank you in advance!"

These things didn’t have a good explanation for their origin. Even if they paid money, there was a high chance they would be confiscated during inspections at the checkpoint. It would be better to pay a handling fee for Sean to carry them back.

After all, they were practically free!

The two cars were loaded with items and drove back.

The original plan was supposed to be to continue searching for the final target.

But Sean calculated that if they found it and there were things inside, the cars wouldn’t fit them, let alone explain how they were transported back.

It’s fine for Elijah Hastings and the others, but Alistair Murray was an outsider, so some things didn’t need to be let known to him.

So the group drove the two cars to the vicinity of Panfilov—because they were afraid the car that had been worried about robbers might have problems, so they didn’t drive into the city. Sean then drove alone with the items into the city.

According to Sean, he went into the city to send the items away and to buy some supplies.

Sean drove a short distance and then put the items into his spatial realm.

He then went to the city and bought some things in the supermarket. Although Sean didn’t understand Kazakh, it wasn’t difficult to buy things here considering how close it was to the opposite side.

Returning from the city, Sean’s idea was to find a hotel in a small town to rest and then go looking for the final target.

But Alistair Murray had a new suggestion:

"Why don’t you come with me to my relatives’ house? It’s not too far from here, and they can take good care of us too—actually, I want to express my gratitude as well. To be honest, if it wasn’t for you guys, I might be dead, let alone making a fortune!"

He calculated that after deducting the 30% handling fee collected by Sean, the items he had dug up were worth at least 200,000 to 300,000.

This was equivalent to his three years’ salary!

If the boss is generous, he shouldn’t be stingy, right?

Sean thought about it and thought it was a good idea, so he agreed.
