Chapter 288: Chapter 239: Mysterious Underground Transactions_2

Isabella Taylor stopped talking at this point, looking at Sean Knight.

Sean Knight nodded and said:

"Actually, I have quite a lot of things here that I believe are not less valuable than the eaglewood-made Buddha Statue."

Leaving aside those ordinary gold and silver items here, the gold products obtained from the South American jungle and the sacrificial objects from the Indian sacrificial pit, is certainly up to the standard for auctions.

"That’s fantastic. What kind of items is Mr. Knight planning to sell?"

Sean thought for a moment. He wouldn’t sell the Maya treasure as Hans might find out. Selling Indian sacrificial items was indeed a better idea. So, he said:

"During my treasure hunt in Beautiful Country, I came across a collection of Indian tribal sacrificial items. These items have a mysterious power, which I want to auction."

"Mysterious power?" Isabella’s eyebrows lifted.

Sean thought she didn’t believe him, so he said:

"It’s true, I felt it... or rather, more than one person felt it."

Isabella looked at Elijah and the others standing behind Sean.

"Not them." Sean shook his head, "I sold one of the totem pillars from that batch of sacrificial items to an Indian chief from a reservation area. They felt it."

"And the material is..."

"Pure gold items."

"When can you bring it over? We need to conduct an appraisal," Isabella asked without skepticism when could she see the items.

"How about the afternoon?" Sean said after thinking for a while.

"That works." Isabella continued: "Since it’s our first cooperation, after the items have been appraised, please take them back, Mr. Knight. We will notify you to come early before the auction begins to hand over the bidding number and items..."

Isabella told him a lot about the auction rules, which were almost identical to what Matthew Carter had explained.

Very secretive, but Isabella kept stressing, they abide by the law.

The more she said this, the more curious Sean became. Finally, Isabella gave Sean a book to read.

The items in it have been confirmed to auctioned off at this time.

Indeed, the items were quite rare!

A copper seal of the Wusun Country king from the Western Region Thirty Six States, an imperial sword of the Xuanzong Emperor Zhu Zhanji of the Ming Dynasty, a Russian Royal Diamond Crown, a pure gold Buddha Statue inlaid with thirty-six gemstones from India, and an unidentified jade with a remark that specifically indicated it encapsulated a bag of water...

The items were indeed an assorted mix, as Matthew said, probably none were cheap.

"The auction catalogue is not complete at the moment, so Mr. Knight, you can’t take it away," Isabella took the time to explain.

Sean nodded to show his understanding.

The auction was to be held in three days, and in the afternoon, Sean brought out the golden sacrificial items.

This was a gold mask. Bigger than a regular human face, it was unclear whether it was made at the time to offer to the gods, or for the wizards during the sacrifices.

After Sean brought these sacrificial items out, he found that virtually every item had a mysterious aura, and that aura made people extremely comfortable.

Feeling it again, Sean’s sensations weren’t as strong as before, but they were still very intense.

He could also sense that these sacrificial items could automatically absorb the energy between heaven and earth and store it.

As for whether they still had special functions like that totem pillar, Sean was unsure.

Sean originally wanted to send out those kneeling figurines.

But he didn’t expect the energy on those figurines to be much stronger than this mask’s, ranking just after that totem pillar.

So, he simply took out this mask as an auction item.

Anyway, without describing, as soon as Isabella touches it, she would probably feel it.

After some thought, Sean decided his crew should not miss out. He promptly called Elijah and the other two to his room.

Looking at the three 20 cm high Golden Kneeling Statues placed in the room, Elijah curiously asked:

"Boss, are these the items for the auction?"

"No, each of you, touch one. One each." Sean pointed to the three Terracotta Figurines.

"Touch?" Elijah asked.

"Yes, it will be beyond your imagination and understanding," Sean smiled, "Don’t worry, it won’t hurt you."

Elijah truly believed that Sean wouldn’t harm him, so he reached out and felt it.

Then he showed a strange expression.

This really was beyond his comprehension!

How can this terracotta figurine give off such a strange feeling?

Seeing that Elijah Hastings was fine, only that his expression was a bit strange, Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper also reached out and touched the figurine.

Then they showed expressions almost identical to Elijah’s.

Seeing that ten minutes had passed, Sean Knight reminded them:

"The energy should be depleted by now. You can let go."

All three reluctantly let go as Elijah was the first to ask:

"Boss, what is this..."

"You heard about it this morning, it’s something used by the Native Americans for sacrifices. It seems to passively absorb some kind of energy that we’re not familiar with."

The only explanation Sean Knight could provide was as such.

"And its function..." Lincoln Harrington was the second to inquire.

"It will slowly transform your body, gradually improving your physical fitness," Sean Knight explained, "I’ve experienced it myself."

"Well, that’s great!" Douglas Cooper exclaimed.

"Alright, get yourselves ready, we’ll be heading over there in a bit." Sean Knight instructed the three to leave, he packed up the figurine and placed the mask into the box.

There was an energy inside the mask as well, but it was about half of what the figurine had, so Sean Knight didn’t feel too regretful about it.

After all, he believed that Isabella Taylor would certainly sense its uniqueness upon touching the mask.

Indeed, the shock on Isabella’s face when she touched the mask gave Sean Knight a deep sense of accomplishment.

Sean Knight immediately reminded Isabella:

"Miss Taylor, the energy inside is finite..."

Isabella, who was very professional, promptly withdrew her hand.

Then came the expert appraisal and Sean Knight’s explanation.

Although there was no appraisal from the expert, Sean’s explanations were acknowledged.

"Unique energy... there’s no mistake about it. There are so many things in the world we don’t understand, someday there might be scientific explanations, but for now, we can only categorize it as mysterious."

The two experts who accompanied Isabella were neither repulsed by nor dismissive of such mysterious phenomena, instead, they were quite agreeable. This made Sean feel reassured.

It’s good as long as it’s not against scientific reasoning.

"Mr. Knight, what’s the starting bid for this mask?" asked Isabella.

"What do you think?" Sean posed the question back to the experts.

"Ten million," one expert said, "If this energy really can improve a person’s health, then this price as the reserve price is quite reasonable."

"You should feel something by tomorrow," Sean didn’t elaborate further. No matter how much he explained, it was better for them to experience it themselves.

"Mr. Knight, if you don’t mind, we would like to verify it again before the auction..." Isabella thought very thorough.

"Of course." Sean Knight smiled as he understood that they simply didn’t want him to absorb all the energy from within it.

In truth, he really didn’t care about that amount of energy.

He had many more similar items that could automatically absorb energy from the nature upon display, which was much more than this one.

Three days passed in a flash, and when Sean Knight, along with Elijah and the rest, returned to the club, Isabella was already there waiting.

To Sean’s surprise, he saw no other guests around.

"All guests will enter via different corridors," Isabella explained, "They won’t meet each other going in or out. Moreover, we have to ensure that all the auction items are authentic and credible."

Sean Knight expressed his understanding.

After the mask was inspected by the two experts, Isabella took Sean into the auction site.

Unlike what Sean had imagined, he directly entered a room, which boasted a window in front of it.

Looking out of the window, he could see a circular hall outside, surrounded by sixteen rooms.

Each room had a window, but while you could see the hall from the window, you couldn’t see what was happening inside the opposite window.

At the center of the hall was a podium with a microphone and a table beside it.

Inside the room where Sean was, there was a sofa, a tea table, and a large-screen television. The television screened the podium in the hall.

On the tea table were fruits, snacks, drinks, and a card with the number "9" on it. Sean understood that it must be his auction number.

Looking at the setup, Sean was quietly building up his anticipation.
