Chapter 272: Chapter 231: Saw It Again!_2

His voice was loud, clearly meant for Jenny and Webb to hear.

Jenny’s face turned red, appearing on the brink of tears, invoking one’s protective instincts.

Webb was about to comfort her.

Fortunately, Grant gave him a stern look, making Webb realize.

Sean Knight pretended not to notice and drove away with Elijah Hastings.

Having walked for so long previously and spent too much time going back and forth, Sean felt it was better to drive.

Although there wasn’t much of a road on the Gobi Beach, it was relatively flat. As long as they avoided sharp rocks, driving was smooth.

With sharp eyes, Sean occasionally reminded Elijah, and they quickly arrived at the place they hid yesterday.

Continuing further to the unexplored areas, Sean let Elijah park the car and get off to climb the mountain.

At the foot of the mountain, there were a few yellow sheep. Indeed, as Douglas Cooper had said, they were alert and watching Sean and Elijah. They only hopped further away and continued to stare at them.

In contrast, there was a sheep on the mountaintop, which promptly disappeared to the other side of the mountain upon seeing them.

It was highly vigilant.

Sean activated his Sky Eye and began searching up and down.

The mountain was vast, and although he originally thought Sky Eye’s searching range was good, it seemed insufficient now.

He wasn’t sure how long it would take to search the entire mountain like this.

Sean believed it was inaccurate to deduce which areas would be easy to hide based on the mountain’s current form from the past few hundred years, so he had to search more carefully.

It wasn’t until the afternoon that Sean, dejected, took Elijah’s advice, and the two found a shady spot to rest.

They didn’t feel like cooking anymore and decided to eat self-heating rice they soaked in water.

They were so hungry that they could wolf down even this unappetizing meal.

"Boss, what are you looking for?" Elijah was closer to Sean now, so his speech had become much more casual.

"Treasure." Sean opened the soaked rice, mixed in some vegetables and then said, "I discovered some clues from ancient books. It should hold wealth from the Song Dynasty, plundered by the Mongols en route to China."

"Mongolian plundered treasures? How did they end up here?"

Elijah didn’t understand.

As Sean ate and pointed to the north, he asked:

"Do you know what a world-famous ruin is located there?"

"I don’t. What ruins could be there?"

When discussing ruins, only two or three places came to Elijah’s mind. Besides China, there were Egypt, Southeast Asia, and the jungles he had visited.

"There was once the center of the Eurasian continent." Sean smiled, "Karakorum, the location of the golden tent of the Great Khan of Mongolia."

"Karakorum?" Elijah wasn’t familiar with it because his history books didn’t cover it. Or perhaps he hadn’t paid attention.

"Yes, Karakorum." Sean surprisingly found self-heating rice quite tasty. As he ate, he said, "After Temujin became Khan, their so-called Golden Family built the golden tent in Karakorum.

It wasn’t until Kublai established the Yuan Dynasty that the capital was moved to Beijing. In fact, Genghis Khan, his son, and grandson – the latter being Möngke Khan who was killed in Fishing City – all proclaimed Khan in Karakorum."

Elijah chuckled, not familiar with this history.

"So at the time, a significant portion of the gold plundered by the Mongolian cavalry from all over Eurasia was transported here and then distributed to various places."

"What we’re looking for are buried treasures plundered by Mongolian cavalry and hidden due to windsand."

Elijah thought for a moment and gave a thumbs up:

"Boss, you’re amazing! You can even find out such things which are barely mentioned in history books!"

Sean smiled without speaking.

Every sentence in a history book was probably a major event for its time.

But history books cannot record everything.

Many more events were lost in the long river of time.

Every single grain of sand in the historical river held considerable weight for ordinary people.

After finishing their meal, Sean talked to Elijah for a while and became re-energized.

Others had lost their lives for these treasures, and he couldn’t afford to lose patience after searching for less than two days.

He couldn’t afford such an attitude!

If they didn’t find it that day, they would continue the next day.

Despite having no gains from Sean’s side, Grant had quickly gleaned rewards on the second day.

From the walkie-talkie, Grant excitedly said:

"Mr. Knight, we’ve found a skull! It’s very likely a fossil of the Blue-tailed Dragon!"

Sean Knight might not know about other dragons, but he had specifically looked up information about the Blue-tailed Dragon before coming here. This was a plant-eating dinosaur, six meters long, with thick armor plates that could rival the famous carnivorous dinosaur, Allosaurus.

"That’s great!" Sean praised Grant and encouraged him to keep up the good work; discovering a complete Blue-tailed Dragon fossil would be excellent!

After putting away the walkie-talkie, Elijah Hastings asked Sean:

"Boss, do you know about the Blue-tailed Dragon?"

"Yes, I do." As they walked, Sean explained it to Elijah. Suddenly, Sean stopped in his tracks and fell silent.

Elijah immediately sensed that something was wrong, and raised his gun.

Not far ahead, there were several round holes, each about 30 centimeters in diameter.

It was perfectly normal to see holes in mountains.

But these holes were directly coming out of the rocks, looking very abrupt!

To Sean, the holes seemed incredibly deep in the mountain, as even his Sky Eye couldn’t see the end.

More worryingly, there was fresh blood at the entrances of these round holes, and the bloodstains weren’t very dark.

It was evident to anyone that the blood hadn’t been there long.

That meant that the unknown creature had been hunting here again!

And the time of the capture could have been just an hour or two ago!

Elijah also noticed this and became even more tense!

Both men said nothing and decided to walk past the holes and continue forward.

"Boss, I think..."

"Exactly."

The conversation between the two was disjointed, but they both understood the underlying meaning.

"Should we keep going forward?"

Sean thought for a moment and said:

"Let’s continue. Stay alert."

However, he didn’t remind Grant’s team, as he had already done so in the morning. The two groups were now about 60 or 70 kilometers apart, so there was no need for a reminder.

Moving forward, Sean’s expression grew even more solemn!

This was because from time to time, they’d come across such round holes.

Although they didn’t encounter many, there would occasionally be one or two.

But his Sky Eye could see that the unknown creature was truly free to move around inside the mountain, and it had impressive digging abilities; effortlessly drilling through the rocks in a very capricious manner.

These holes were winding, and bottomless.

Some holes were already occupied by other small animal species, and Sean’s Sky Eye even spotted a small mouse.

But some holes were incredibly smooth, as if they were frequently used.

Who wouldn’t be scared by this sight?

When they stopped to rest and eat in the middle, Sean and Elijah deliberately went down to the foot of the mountain.

Throughout their journey, they had noticed that the entrances seemed to be only on the mountain, and were located between ten meters to a hundred meters up from the foot.

There were none found above or below these points.

So, on flat ground, they found a spot in the shade underneath a high shrubbery and felt a bit safer.

After eating and resting for a while, Sean noticed that Elijah looked a bit exhausted. It was clear that maintaining this level of tension was draining.

Considering the gains they made in the destroyed temple, Sean couldn’t help but want to suggest going back.

However, he felt a bit unwilling to give up.

After all, they hadn’t found their destination yet. They didn’t know when they’d get another chance, so they might as well find it in one go.

After their break, the two continued on.

"Huh? Boss, what’s on the entrance to this hole?" They discovered another hole, but this time Elijah was surprised to see not only the black-red blood but also some yellow powder on the entrance.

Sean looked over and was momentarily stunned.

If his guess was right, this was probably—gold powder?

His heart raced.

Were they about to find the place they were looking for?
