Chapter 266: Chapter 228: Dangers Lurking Around_2

And when they scanned with the Sky Eye, they found that the bottom of the ore vein couldn’t even be seen. This ore vein, incredibly long, stretched westward with no end in sight.

Although it had little to do with Sean Knight, he still dug up two pieces of ore with a shovel and put them away. No one could say for sure whether they would be useful in the future.

The location was marked on the mobile phone, and Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings continued moving forward.

The yellow sheep saw that Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings didn’t mean to disturb their peaceful lives, so they continued to lower their heads to eat grass. Only a few kept vigilant, occasionally raising their heads to watch.

As Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings moved forward, halfway up the hill, Elijah Hastings suddenly remarked:

"Boss, the mountain wind here is a bit strong."

Sean Knight had the same feeling. Suddenly, he thought about the origin of the treasure he was searching for. He looked into the distance and didn’t find anything, but he was not reassured. So he immediately started climbing upwards on the mountain.

The hill was about one to two hundred meters high, so they quickly climbed up. Looking at the sky in the distance, Sean Knight gasped—trouble was brewing!

The horizon where the earth met the sky was shrouded under a lowering canopy of grey-black!

Elijah had also caught up. Seeing the scenario, he couldn’t help but exclaim:

"Sandstorm!"

"Such rotten luck!" Sean Knight muttered, and he was already pulling Elijah down the hill.

"Boss, it’s too late!" Elijah paused, gauging the speed of the sandstorm, then said to Sean Knight:

"We can’t make it back. We’re not fast enough and we’d be blown away by the sandstorm midway!"

"What should we do?" Sean Knight, having no prior experience in such matters, could only ask Elijah for advice.

"We need to find a place to hide on the leeward side of the mountain and wait for the sandstorm to pass!"

Truth be told, although Elijah had experienced a sandstorm before, it had been a short one, and he had no idea how long the sandstorm here would last.

"Okay!" Sean Knight agreed without hesitation and pointed at the walkie-talkie on Elijah and said,

"Inform Lincoln Harrington about this and tell them to start preparing quickly!"

Elijah was thinking the same thing and immediately called through the walkie-talkie:

"Lincoln Harrington, answer if you are there!"

After a burst of static, Douglas Cooper responded:

"Captain Hastings, this is Douglas Cooper. Over!"

"A sandstorm is coming. Gather your team quickly, secure the tents—provided your vehicles are up for the task, they may serve as shelters. Prepare for the storm!"

"Roger roger! What about you guys?"

"We don’t have enough time to get back to you. We plan to take shelter here and wait for the sandstorm to pass before returning."

"Okay okay okay, stay safe!" Aware of the urgency, Douglas Cooper didn’t waste any time and quickly relayed the message to Lincoln Harrington.

Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings quickly started running down the hill, standing on the hill now was practically an invitation to death.

"Boss, I remember there was a mountain hollow on our way here, where if we were able to process it a bit, attached the wind break, it should serve as a sanctuary!"

"Okay, let’s head there." Sean Knight immediately agreed.

The two of them were quick in their actions. In only a few minutes, they reached the mountain hollow. The hollow was less than two meters deep within the mountain rock, hardly a cave.

"Set up the tent!" Sean Knight took out a compressed tent from his backpack

Of course, he actually pulled it out from his spatial realm!

Elijah was surprised that Sean Knight actually brought along a tent. This was much better than a windproof cloth.

Sean Knight took out expansion screws and a hammer. Elijah, being familiar with this, quickly fixed the expansion screws and reinforcement. Sean Knight, on the other hand, cleaned up the inside – weeded out the grass, leveled the ground, laid out a moisture-proof pad, and blocked all crevices.

Seeing that they still had time, Elijah said to Sean Knight,

"Boss, I’ll go catch a yellow sheep--We can’t be sure how long this sandstorm will last. If it lasts for days, we didn’t bring much sustenance, so it won’t be easy."

"Okay!" Sean Knight handed him the hunting rifle.

Holding the rifle, Elijah went out and found that the flock of yellow sheep had also sensed the abnormality in the air. Most of them had stood up and some were already moving closer to the mountain side.

After all, other than this mountain, there was no shelter around. If they wanted to avoid the sandstorm, their only option was to get closer to the mountain.

Elijah approached the flock of yellow sheep. The sheep only stirred slightly, not running far away.

He aimed his rifle at a robust ram and fired. The sheep was down.

On hearing the gunshot, the entire flock scattered, running towards the east along the mountainside. However, after covering a bit of distance, they again veered closer to the mountain.

Seeing the situation, Elijah Hastings felt relieved.

He strapped the hunting rifle on his back, shouldered the yellow sheep, and walked back to the tent.

Sean Knight had already taken out some mineral water, compressed dry food, and cans and set them up.

Hastings didn’t expect Knight to have these supplies, which made him happy. However, he knew time was tight, and immediately began to process the yellow sheep.

In the convoy, Lincoln Harrington, upon hearing Douglas Cooper’s words, immediately went to find Grant Kenneth:

"Professor Grant, a sandstorm is about to hit, and we must set up the shelter as soon as possible!"

Grant had intended to dig more by the mountain. Hearing this, he came out of the tent, saw the winds growing stronger, knew the situation was unfavorable, and said to Harrington:

"Mr. Harrington, you mean..."

"Put the three cars together and form a triangle. The tent is set up inside. We’ll all cram into one tent. Also, put some supplies inside the tent for easy access. This way the cars can also block some wind and prevent us from being blown away."

"Alright, we’ll do it your way!" Grant wasn’t stubborn. He immediately agreed and called over others for help.

Those who could start their cars did so and those who could adjust their tents did so. Before the sand storm arrived, a large tent had already been set up in the middle of the cars.

In order to prevent the cars and tent from getting blown away, Harrington and Cooper found some stones and placed them on the tires and tent pegs to add weight.

The wind became stronger, visibility more blurred. Jenny, looking a little afraid, asked:

"I wonder how bad this sand storm is..."

Webb Crete immediately comforted her:

"Don’t worry, it should pass soon. Besides, we have food and drink in our tent. Even if the sandstorm lasts longer, we can get through it."

Willow Taylor glanced at Jenny’s anxious face and rolled her eyes.

But she had lived in the city and only heard about sandstorms in the news. She hadn’t experienced it in real life.

She didn’t know if they could hold out.

Harrington and Cooper were filled with worry for Knight and Hastings.

They were safe here, but what about Knight and Hastings out in the wild?

As Hastings was throwing out the sheep’s organs and processing the meat, his vision suddenly went black, followed by an eerie howling sound!

The storm and sandstorm hit!

Sean quickly pulled out a rechargeable lamp and hung it on top of the tent; the tent instantly lit up.

Hastings looked surprised again and laughed.

"Boss, your backpack is like a magic pouch—it’s got everything!"

"Not everything. If it did, I’d pull out a beautiful girl to keep me company right now." Knight was dead serious and made Hastings laugh again.

However, when Knight pulled out something else, Hastings was truly stunned:

This too?

It was a compact gas stove.

"Do you want to roast some meat? I’ve got some seasoning here?"

"Boss, shouldn’t we be taking this more seriously?" Hastings said, "There’s a deadly sandstorm out there!"

"Just trying to make the best out of a tough situation!" Knight stretched out nonchalantly, wondering when it would finally stop.

Suddenly, a wolf howl came in from outside!

And it was close!

The sandstorm had driven the wolves here!

Hastings immediately picked up the hunting rifle and peered out the tent’s crevice. You couldn’t see your hand in front of your face, let alone five meters ahead.

The sand and wind stung his face. He squinted into the storm and only then saw a prairie wolf, huddled against a stone wall, struggling in the wind, not ten meters from the tent.

"How many wolves? How far?" Knight asked.

"One, less than ten meters."

"Kill it!" Knight said, "Can’t leave any loose ends!"

Hastings shared the sentiment and immediately raised his gun.

The wolf instantly became alert!
