The second day, Sean Knight changed his appearance a bit, picked up a suitcase, and took a taxi to the inn.

Entering the inn, he saw a fat white old woman at the reception. Sean approached her and said,

"Please give me a room."

The inn had three floors in total. Because it was not in a busy area, they had chosen to renovate it instead of rebuilding it from scratch.

After paying for the room and getting his key card, Sean activated his Sky Eye and deliberately slowed his pace, observing the surroundings in the hallway.

He found nothing on the first floor. His room was on the second floor.

Upon reaching the second floor, he still didn’t find anything. So he entered his room and set down his suitcase.

The room was quite clean, and the facilities inside looked new.

After taking a short rest, Sean went up to the third floor, pretending to loiter around.

Then, through his Sky Eye, he discovered a familiar-looking travel bag in the ventilation opening on the ceiling of one of the rooms on the third floor. Inside were dozens of gold bars—the travel bag was covered with a thick layer of dust!

Thanking his lucky stars that no thieves had entered, that the lazy boss hadn’t done any inspection, and that the ventilation system was working well enough, Sean returned to his room, took his suitcase, and went to the front desk, saying to the white old woman:

"Beautiful Girl, can you help me change to a room on the third floor? I think the second floor isn’t high enough."

The old woman was taken aback and kindly advised,

"Even on the third floor, you won’t die if you jump. Young man, think it through; there’s no difficulty that can’t be overcome..."

Sean felt embarrassed. Did she think he wanted a higher floor to jump off the building?

He explained, saying,

"I just think the view from the third floor would be better. Don’t worry, ma’am, I have people at home, my work is going well, and I’m not desperate."

The old woman was still suspicious, but she changed his room anyway.

Sean gave the white old woman a 10-dollar tip, then went to his new room.

After staying in the room for a while, just as he was about to enter the ventilation system through the restroom, a knock sounded at the door.

Sean thought it was fortunate that he hadn’t climbed into the vent yet because it would have been troublesome if he had.

Opening the door, he saw the white old woman from the reception. She was holding a bottle of wine and said to Sean,

"Young man, if you’re struggling with something, having a drink could help."

Apparently, she still hadn’t believed his explanation.

Sean took the wine and handed her 100 dollars, explaining again:

"Thank you, ma’am. I truly don’t have any problems. I have a beautiful girlfriend and a promising future; I won’t jump off the building. Besides, as you said, even if I jumped from this floor, I wouldn’t die."

The old woman left satisfied, and Sean hung up the "Do Not Disturb" sign, then brought the wine into his room.

He hadn’t expected the old woman to be so warm-hearted!

Feeling it was about the right time, Sean changed his clothes, went to the restroom, removed the vent cover, and carefully crawled inside.

It was quite dark in there, and fearing to alarm the people in the other rooms, Sean crawled slowly.

However, he did see a couple of eye-catching situations along the way—after all, not everyone staying in the inn was there for legitimate reasons like him.

Thankfully, the people involved were too engrossed in their activities to notice, and Sean’s movements were quiet enough not to arouse suspicion.

After retrieving the travel bag and storing it in his spatial realm, Sean returned to his room and immediately sneezed loudly!

Earlier, when he had been in the vent, there was a lot of dust. If his endurance hadn’t been so strong, he would have certainly alarmed the people in the other rooms.

Changing back into his original clothes and throwing the dusty work clothes into his spatial realm, Sean counted a total of forty gold bars.

Though it wasn’t much, the return on investment was quite high compared to the effort he put in.

Sean quickly checked out and left, sincerely thanking the white old woman before departing.

Taking a taxi back to the villa, Sean was in high spirits and decided to check on the progress of Dominic Ashford and Blake Turner on the bamboo slip restoration.

As he approached the entrance, he overheard Dominic saying to Blake,

"Blake, don’t just focus on the content of the bamboo slips. Go and see how the preparation of the materials and the medicine for the next step is going."

Hearing that, Sean decided not to enter after all.

It seemed that Professor Nelson was an upright person who remembered his words well.

Sean was quite satisfied with this.

Five days later, Dominic informed Sean that the restoration was complete.
