Chapter 247: Chapter 218: You Want to Harm Me? Your Cultivation Isn’t Enough!
The door stood open as Luke Paris led the way, commenting as they went:
"I discovered this was the first hideout of those robbers at the time. But later they felt it was unsafe as there were too many people coming and going, so they changed their location."
"You found out?" Sean Knight curiously asked, "Did the police find out at the time?"
"No." Luke Paris replied, somewhat smugly, "The police were mainly focused on investigating the scene of the shootout. With the case causing quite the stir, the higher-ups wanted to close it quickly, so a lot of things were overlooked. And those who wanted to look further had no way to do so later."
Hearing this, Sean Knight started to question the situation of the time.
Why were they insistent on closing the case so quickly? Could there be some trickery involved?
Then, Sean Knight suddenly recalled an internet joke about a robber who stole 3 million from a bank. The bank manager reported to the president that 10 million were lost. The president reported to the higher-ups that they lost a hundred million.
Could this be a possibility?
Sean Knight shook his head, dismissing the thought.
The three of them entered the courtyard. Luke said to Sean:
"It’s all yours now."
"The chances of finding anything in the courtyard are slim. Let’s check inside the house first!" Sean pointed toward the slightly ajar door.
This Forsythe has quite an influence, managing to get the residents to leave without even locking the door.
It seems that this man is something more than just a patrol officer.
Upon entering, Sean noticed that the house had been searched neatly but there were some fresh footprints.
Even though he hadn’t activated Sky Eye, Sean’s senses were far more acute than ordinary people, allowing him to spot the abnormalities at a glance.
There were some messy footprints inside the house that were clearly different from others.
Had Forsythe entered again after clearing the people out?
That’s possible. Based on his habits, Sean firmly believed that Forsythe would check for gold first. If he found it, he probably wouldn’t share it with Sean or Luke.
Sean turned to Luke and asked:
"Luke, when you arrived, had Forsythe already cleared out the people?"
As Luke was observing the facilities in the house, he replied:
"Forsythe had already arrived when I got here. He called me last night specifically asking me not to come early, to avoid any inconvenience."
Sean nodded his head.
That explained it. The house didn’t look too messy or like it had been ransacked.
With the activation of Sky Eye, Sean scanned around and suddenly widened his eyes:
"What the heck is that doing here?
Could this family be drug traffickers?"
He saw a black plastic bag hidden under a cabinet in the living room!
Inside the bag were two square transparent plastic bags filled with white powder and transparent crystals!
Sean had an inkling of what these were!
Why did that plastic bag look so familiar?
Sean suddenly remembered it resembled the plastic bag Luke handed to Forsythe yesterday!
Several conspiracy theories flashed in Sean’s mind!
Could it be... Forsythe was that ruthless?
He took a second look and noticed a mezzanine in the wall behind the cabinet containing a travel bag—almost identical to the one they found yesterday!
Inside the bag were even more gold bars!
Sean’s excitement grew as he made to move towards it when suddenly a piercing police siren blared from outside!
In that moment Sean was certain he had guessed the nature of Forsythe’s plot!
He said to Luke:
"Quick, get out! Tell my men in the car not to resist!"
Luke was dazed, so Sean repeated himself louder:
"We’ve been set up! Go and get out!"
Luke, following Sean’s yelled command, instinctively obliged, while Sean Knight quickly exited the house!
Sean immediately grabbed the black plastic bag and placed it into the spatial realm, then moved the cabinet, punched through the mezzanine, took out the travel bag and also placed it into his spatial realm. By the time he put the cabinet back in place, footsteps could be heard outside!
Sean only had time to sweep the area again with Sky Eye, confirming there weren’t any other similar items, before he let out a sigh of relief and waited for the police to arrive.
A few seconds later, the door was pushed open and several policemen stormed in with their guns drawn:
"Don’t move!"
"Hands on your head!"
"Squat down!"
"Lie on the ground!"
"Hand over your weapon..."
The contradictory orders left Sean wanting to chuckle despite the guns pointed at him, so he slowly squatted down with his hands raised.
He felt that these policemen were even more nervous than him.
Seeing him comply, two officers keeping their guns trained on him pushed him to the ground and frisked him.
The other policemen began searching the house.
Not finding any weapons, the officer holding Sean down gathered the courage to point his gun at Sean’s head and began his interrogation:
"Tell us, where have you hidden the stuff?"
"Speak up! Be quick, no tricks!"
Sean had only one statement:
"I’m waiting for my lawyer. I want my lawyer!"
Unable to extract information, the cop holding the gun wanted to strike Sean’s head with the butt of his gun. Sean warned him angrily:
"You better not! Or my lawyer will make you pay a hefty price!"
Intimidated by a member of the yellow race, the cop refused to back down in front of his colleagues and sneered:
"You don’t have any proof!" Following that, he raised his gun and savagely brought it down.
