Chapter 232: Chapter 210: Truly, one thing overcomes another! _2

Although he said that, the others didn’t see it that way!

After all, the river looked deep, and there were many dangerous creatures in it. Who knew if they might encounter something like piranhas?

But what other options were there at the moment?

Fortunately, the river slowed down the ants’ progress, and instead of running, the people walked and recovered their strength.

Lincoln Harrington asked the question that everyone wanted to ask:

"Why did they still chase us after we gave them the ants?"

"Maybe it’s the smell, plus we’re delicious to them," Sean Knight guessed.

Everyone looked at Mila Ward.

Mila was a little nervous.

Sean Knight smiled:

"Don’t worry, I won’t leave you alone. After all, we’ve shared life and death together."

Elijah Hastings also laughed and said, "Right, you’re almost like a comrade to us. This isn’t a loss!"

About a kilometer ahead, they found a tree trunk about three meters long and 70-80 centimeters in diameter.

"This is it!" Sean Knight looked up and down the river. This time, he really didn’t find any "big cargo" and said, "Let’s use this!"

The others didn’t want to walk anymore either, so Sean Knight carved a flat surface and handholds on the tree with his short sword. Elijah, watching enviously, asked:

"Boss, I haven’t seen this short sword before, did you dig it up?"

"Yes!" Sean Knight handed the short sword over, "Want to try it?"

Elijah carved a few times and exclaimed, "It’s so sharp! I wonder what material it’s made of."

"It should be meteoric iron," Sean guessed. "In ancient times, not everyone could create a material that could cut iron like mud. It’s so sharp, it must be meteoric iron."

They quickly made a simple dugout canoe and pushed it into the water without waiting any longer. They paddled towards the opposite bank using both hands and feet.

"What is that?" Lincoln Harrington turned his head nonchalantly and suddenly saw a dark cloud approaching rapidly in the sky, and immediately asked.

"That’s... flying ants!" Sean Knight was startled!

Those things were clearly coming towards them!

A strong sense of powerlessness suddenly rose among them!

On this river, neither reaching the sky nor the ground, and encountering this swarm of flying ants? Wasn’t that asking for trouble?

Sean Knight stared at the "dark cloud" while pondering how to survive this situation.

"When they come, let’s splash water. If things get really bad, we can dive into the river!" Sean Knight reminded them. In fact, he felt that everyone knew that once the wings of these creatures touched the water, they wouldn’t be able to fly for a short time.

Unfortunately, if the situation worsened, he would have to take out the spray can from his spatial realm. However, explaining it afterward would be quite troublesome.

But life was more important, so he would deal with the other matters later!

The dark cloud drew closer, and just as it was about to swoop down, a swarm of finger-sized dragonfly-like insects suddenly flew out from an unknown place and rushed towards the flying ants!

One after another, the dragonflies grabbed the flying ants and carried them away like a delicious meal!

Although the number of dragonflies was smaller than that of the flying ants, the flying ants could no longer focus on tracking their scent for food while being attacked.

Fleeing for their lives was more important!

So the originally deadly crisis was resolved like this?

It took the group several seconds to recover from the dream-like event!

Hans Hunter suddenly spoke:

"Sean, bringing you along on this treasure hunt was the best decision I’ve made in my life! Only with you could I have experienced such good fortune time and time again!"

Hans attributed this incident to Sean’s good luck once again.

Everyone else looked at Sean Knight, their eyes strange.

"Alright, let’s forget about luck." Sean Knight couldn’t stand their gaze and said:

"Let’s just hurry and cross the river. Otherwise, who knows what else might appear in the river."

Elijah suddenly pointed at the sky and said:

"I don’t think we need to cross the river anymore."

Everyone looked up and saw swarms of large dragonflies chasing the flying ants in the direction they had come from.

Wasn’t that the exact location of the carnivorous ants?

"Do we want to go back and take a look?" Sean Knight’s heart suddenly stirred.

Not to mention the luggage, Septimius Coleman is still over there!

Who knows if he can escape the ants’ pursuit.

But they’d have to go and take a look to put their minds at ease.

"Let’s go back and check!" said Hans Hunter, "Our documents are all in our luggage, without them, we’ll be in a lot of trouble!"

Since both of them agreed, they paddled back.

Thankfully they hadn’t gone far, and they soon reached the shore.

After getting to the shore, they left the wood by the riverbank, ready to cross back over if the situation looked bad.

They cautiously made their way back to the river fork, but they didn’t see any ants.

Instead, they saw swarms of dragonflies continuing to fly along their original path, occasionally catching a lone ant and flying away with it.

It seemed that these ants were either flying away or being eaten.

"So many are dead!" Sean Knight had sharp eyes, immediately spotting drowned ants floating near the riverbank, not yet washed away.

From time to time, small fish would come along and swallow them.

A feast!

Seeing this, the others felt relieved.

Elijah Hastings exclaimed:

"Indeed, there’s a natural enemy for everything. We have ants, but we also have dragonflies that eat ants. You have to admit, nature is quite harmonious."

"Let’s go, it should be safe now." Sean waved his hand, and this time they walked upstream, crossing the river at a shallow point.

Remembering the general direction, they took a shortcut, always careful, but still ready to turn and flee if something seemed wrong.

They continued like this until they reached the Ruin Site, and the sky had darkened, but they saw no more ants.

Instead, a swarm of dragonflies circled above them, putting them more at ease.

When they returned to the camp, they did not find Septimius Coleman.

While the others checked their backpacks, Sean shouted:

"Septimius Coleman! Septimius Coleman!"

After calling several times and not seeing anyone, Sean couldn’t help but think, had he really been eaten?

But that didn’t make sense, even if he had been eaten, there should at least be clothes or something left behind, right?

He went to pack his belongings, as it was clear they couldn’t spend the night there tonight.

Just then, a figure suddenly emerged from the jungle - it was Septimius Coleman!

Seeing Sean, he grinned, then ran over quickly and collapsed at Sean’s feet, touching the ground with his forehead.

Sean hurriedly helped him up, and the others had already packed their luggage, so Sean asked Mila to translate while they walked.

"He said he heard you calling his name, your tone was urgent, so he knew there was danger. He was just about to chase after you when he saw those creatures from the depths - probably referring to the ants - then he ran into the jungle!"

"However, he didn’t run far. When he saw those creatures didn’t come this way, he stayed in the trees, waiting for us to come back."

Sean marveled at how honest the man was!

The group didn’t stop until they were about two kilometers away from the Ruin Site before setting up camp again.

On the way, Mila had specifically found a place to thoroughly wash her hands.

After learning about the situation, Septimius Coleman squeezed some juice from plants onto Mila’s hands, saying it could eliminate the special odor.

Even so, at Sean’s request, Septimius Coleman collected some strongly-smelling plants and placed them around the camp, lighting several fires.

Only then did everyone feel slightly safer.

Dinner was entirely provided by Septimius Coleman - the others were more or less exhausted.

After dinner, no one chatted. Septimius Coleman stood guard while the others rested.

Thankfully, the night passed without incident.

The second day, Sean said to Hans:

"Mr. Hans, the jungle is too dangerous. I think we should go back."

Hans knew that if they continued searching, they might lose their lives here, so he nodded.

The others breathed a sigh of relief - they could finally go back!

Sean took the lead for the rest of the journey - he had a comprehensive mental map providing information about this area.

Although he couldn’t memorize the entire Amazon Jungle, he could still find the way back!
