Chapter 229: Chapter 209: Terrifying Ruin Site!

Ultimately, the group decided to split up and act separately.

Seeing Sean Knight walking straight ahead, Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington looked at each other and without saying anything, went their own ways.

Sean had a map of the city in his memory, and his destination was the Lord’s Manor, where there should be some valuable items.

The Lord’s Manor was not located in the center of the city but rather opposite the side where they had set up camp, requiring them to cross the entire city.

Since the target was obvious, Sean did not use his Sky Eye.

He glanced over and saw that Elijah had already started digging in a broken building that was left with only a few half walls.

Hans was standing nearby, telling them that they had found jewelry and such in similar places before.

Lincoln was digging on another ruined house’s site.

This ruin site was quite large, so there should be some gains.

About ten minutes later, Sean arrived at the other end of the city ruins and saw a courtyard ruin site that covered at least a few dozen acres of land.

Because the building materials used here were better and the area was larger, there were still quite a few surface structures like stone walls and stone platforms remaining.

Some fallen building fragments could be seen among the growing shrubbery.

Sean activated his Sky Eye, carefully searching the area.

Soon, he discovered several pieces of golden jewelry under an outbuilding.

The style of Maya’s golden jewelry was quite unique, and Sean found it quite chic. He grabbed a shovel and started digging.

Half a meter deep and without any skeletons, it seemed that these weren’t left behind by people who had died from plague.

As expected, when he dug them out, the seemingly decorative items were stored in a box, probably left behind by the owner when they evacuated.

Sean wiped them clean and put them in his backpack, then continued on his way.

As expected, there were many more valuable items in the Lord’s Manor. Shortly after, Sean found more golden ornaments in another room.

Sean guessed that the owner of this place must have held an important position in the manor, otherwise, they wouldn’t have used golden ornaments.

As he kept digging, the soil underneath was still damp. Along with the golden ornaments, there were other corroded items. However, he could tell there were copper and iron components.

Little by little, he dug further, and when he finally reached a rather large room that he remembered as being the main room of the manor, he felt he had made considerable gains.

Beneath it, there were six pieces of golden ornaments, seven gold-plated ones, over ten silver ones, and various gemstones.

What surprised Sean most was that there was also a dark short sword among the items – it showed no signs of rust!

The excavation work was quite laborious, but Sean’s strength was now several times greater than that of an ordinary person.

With the shovel flying, he quickly excavated a hollow place.

As he unearthed one golden item after another, the feeling of reaping the harvest was truly wonderful!

Just from these six pieces of golden jewelry, Sean estimated that there were about half a kilogram of gold.

The ornaments weighed even more!

Sean continued digging out the ornaments, and without bothering with the silver goods, he took out the black dagger first.

There were other weapons nearby, but they were clearly corroded beyond recognition, so Sean didn’t bother with them.

As he excavated in such a place, he felt no psychological burden.

Instead of leaving the items buried here, they would serve a greater purpose in Sean’s possession.

Once the short sword was dug out, he carefully examined it.

The sword was no more than forty centimeters in length, with a blade about twenty centimeters long. Both edges were very sharp with blood grooves, making it clear that it was not a decoration.

Even after being buried underground for hundreds of years, this short sword was genuinely rust-free. As he waved the sword lightly, the branches of the nearby shrubbery broke off.

There was virtually no resistance at all!

It may not be able to cut iron like mud, but it was incredibly sharp!

Sean immediately took a liking to this short sword.

He searched around but did not find a scabbard; it must have rotted away long ago.

Sean wrapped the short sword in his spare clothes and placed it in his spatial realm, intending to find a scabbard for it later.

It was then that he heard a surprised shout from the distance, and Sean recognized it as Mila’s voice.

Did the girl find something good?

Sean looked over, but with his current eyesight, he could barely make out what Mila was holding from seven to eight hundred meters away.

She must have found something good, right?

Sean didn’t care too much, he took a sip of water and retrieved some food from his spatial realm to eat.

It wasn’t good to take these things out in front of everyone. After all, if he did, it would be troublesome to explain.

Now that he was alone, there was no need to fuss about it.

After eating and drinking, feeling his strength returning, Sean continued searching.

Soon, he discovered the warehouse of the Lord’s Manor.

To his delight, the warehouse appeared to comprise two levels - one above ground and one underground.

When the ground floor collapsed, the items buried underneath were shallow – although there weren’t many items, they were easy to dig out.

Under twenty to thirty centimeters of soil, there were several boxes of golden coins and gold bars!

Did the Maya city-states use gold coins during their time?

Sean didn’t know, but that didn’t stop him from quickly unearthing the gold and storing it in his spatial realm.

Sean felt quite lucky.

Hans had mentioned that they had excavated here before, but they probably hadn’t found this place.

If they had found it, wouldn’t it have been easy for them to locate a vast amount of wealth?

It was certainly much safer than venturing into the Sacrificial Hall!

However, realizing this, Sean stood up immediately and looked around, finding nothing unusual.

He sniffed the air, but detected no strange smells.
