Chapter 219: Chapter 204: Might Die Even If You Do Nothing
Hans was eager to go and take a look, but Sean Knight disagreed:
"There’s less than an hour before nightfall. Going there now, we might not find anything.
Moreover, that place is too conspicuous. If there’s any danger, we won’t have anywhere to hide."
Jason also agreed, saying:
"Mr. Hans, I think it’s better for us to camp here. I still have to go back to find Wilson and bring Green over."
Hans reluctantly nodded in agreement.
Jason immediately dropped his backpack and quickly returned to search for his teammate.
Elijah Hastings cooked some meat porridge with the leftovers from lunch.
The others prepared a place to rest.
After eating, Hans leaned against a big tree and stared in the direction of the vacant land, not saying a word.
Sean felt that the coming days would be uneasy, so he whispered to Elijah and Lincoln Harrington:
"Stay alert tonight, I feel that this place isn’t safe."
Elijah and Lincoln nodded in unison.
When it was about to get dark, Jason returned with Green but without any trace of Wilson.
"I couldn’t find him." Jason looked disheartened and a bit angry, "I searched the surrounding area again but found no sign of him."
Hearing this, everyone became more concerned!
Before, Wilson had been careless and spoke thoughtlessly, taking things lightly.
So his departure and disappearance didn’t raise much concern among the group.
Sean even thought it might serve Wilson right to teach him a lesson.
But now that they couldn’t find him, there was a high possibility that he was in real danger, and they had to take it seriously!
It was not a matter of human nature, but a matter of danger!
Wilson had a gun, and when monkeys attacked him earlier, he was able to shoot back.
But now there was no gunshot, what does that mean?
If he was attacked, he didn’t even get the chance to fire!
If those unknown beings attacked these people, how many chances of survival would there be?
"We’ll look for him tomorrow," Sean said, "Tomorrow we’ll search together to at least find out what happened to Wilson. We can’t search for the treasure with hidden dangers."
The meaning was clear, everyone was smart, and no further explanation was needed.
Jason said:
"I left a mark at the original spot so that if Wilson comes back, he will notice it and come find us. Otherwise..."
He didn’t finish the rest of his sentence.
But it was obvious that the chances of Wilson coming back were slim.
Sean comforted him:
"Maybe he fell somewhere, or maybe he was captured by the Primitive Tribe. We’ll talk about it once we find him."
Jason knew that was all they could do for now.
At night, as Sean felt that Jason wasn’t in the right state to keep watch, he asked Elijah and Lincoln to take turns on guard duty.
But Jason was unwilling:
"It’s our responsibility to keep watch, and I won’t neglect my duty because of personal matters of a teammate!"
He insisted on keeping watch for the first half of the night. Sean didn’t refuse anymore, but he secretly told Elijah to stay awake for the first half of the night.
Elijah agreed, as it was better to keep their safety in their hands.
When Sean lay down, he still couldn’t fall asleep.
He decided to open his eyes and look outside.
In the darkness, there were pairs of big and small eyes staring at them from a distance.
As Sean’s Sky Eye swept past, many of the eyes’ owners sensed something and immediately turned to run.
Sean knew that his group coming here was an unexpected intrusion to this Land, and the indigenous animals in the jungle were naturally watching carefully.
As for whether or not they would dare to attack, it was hard to say.
Luckily, the size of these animals seemed relatively small, mostly herbivores and omnivores, so there shouldn’t be any danger.
But where was his uneasiness coming from?
Unable to see anything, Sean had no choice but to lie down, keeping his eyes open and planning for tomorrow.
The closer they got to the treasure, the more they needed to be patient.
Otherwise, chaos could ensue.
Initially, Hans had been in charge of the itinerary, but now it seemed that Hans’ attitude was not suitable for the task. His mind was entirely focused on the Stone Platform, or rather, the treasure’s hiding place.
As Sean was thinking and about to doze off, he suddenly heard Elijah shouting:
"Get up quickly! Danger!"
Almost simultaneously, Jason also yelled:
"What the hell is that thing! Everyone, get up quickly! Something is attacking us!"
Sean jumped up, grabbed his gun, and rushed outside, only to see countless eyes closing in on them!
As Hans and the others woke up and Mila saw what was happening by the light of Jason’s lamp, she screamed!
By this time, Sean had already seen that they were spiders, some as big as a bowl, and the larger ones the size of a plate or even a small basin!
Damn it, this was the real world, not a magical world!
Where did all these huge spiders come from!
These spiders were several times larger than the biggest wolf spiders Sean had seen in his Hometown!
"Start a fire! Hurry up!" Sean thought quickly, "These things should be afraid of fire!"
As he spoke, he didn’t worry about revealing his presence, so he took out a Hand Grenade from the spatial realm, pulled out the pin, and threw it!
A group of spiders was blown to pieces, and the noise frightened the other spiders!
The huge sound woke the others, and Elijah immediately took out a lighter to ignite his clothes, making a torch. The others followed suit, adding firewood to the bonfire and burning whatever they could find.
The raging fire stopped the spiders’ attack, but the spiders only retreated about ten meters and didn’t leave!
