Chapter 207: Chapter 198: Destined with People Whose Last Name Is Zhu! _2
"Bondi, make sure your workers wear their safety helmets!" Sean Knight said sternly, "If something falls and hits their heads, it could be fatal!"
Taking Sean’s concerns seriously, Bondi nodded earnestly.
"Clark, don’t always compare yourself to those two. You just took over the freight yard, and it’ll take some time to be as profitable as they are. Just manage this well, and profits will follow."
Clark also nodded vigorously.
"Jason, I’m entrusting you with the three locations," Sean instructed Jason lastly. "If anyone doesn’t do well, you have the power to fire them. However, your focus should be on the container auction. Its reputation is becoming established, and the remaining task is to stabilize the customer base..."
Sean gave a lot of instructions, including taking the matter of Kathy checking accounts seriously.
Jason patted his chest and assured Sean that he’d manage the locations well and set his mind at ease.
With a laugh, Jason added, "Bosuns, I’ve received another batch of containers. Can you help me with the sorting and classification?"
It was a simple enough task, and Sean naturally didn’t refuse.
Then he handed Douglas over to Jason to practice his spoken English; otherwise, he’d only be able to earn the wages of the African workers.
Knowing that Sean, Elijah, and Lincoln were confirmed treasure hunters, Douglas was visibly disappointed. However, since he was single, he had already started pestering Freya to teach him English.
It was evident that Freya had no intention of helping him, and Douglas was somewhat let down.
"Do you two have any experience in jungle survival?" Sean asked Elijah and Lincoln in the villa.
"Yes," both of them answered.
"Alright, make a list of what to purchase."
Since Sean had already told Hans that he’d bear these two’s expenses, he went straight to purchasing without delay.
He wanted all top-quality gear; Sean did not want to risk his life for subpar equipment.
In the end, Elijah and Lincoln each had a camouflage backpack.
Two days later, Hans called Sean to set out.
Hans brought along a translator and bodyguard, Mila, as well as four mercenaries.
Sean took Elijah and Lincoln, making a total of nine people in the party.
With all necessary procedures completed, the group flew to Brazil before heading to the Amazon Jungle.
Once they reached the Amazon Jungle, the four mercenaries used local contacts to purchase firearms.
On the way, Sean got to know the four mercenaries better.
Team Leader Jason Caldwell was a white American ex-military man who had worked as a mercenary for over ten years, experienced on the Middle East Battlefield.
The other team members were Green, Wilson Johnson, and Fortess; where Wilson was black.
These four were all ex-soldiers, trusted each other, and had excellent coordination.
They had their channels to buy guns. Although they complained that the guns were too old upon receiving them, they quickly familiarized themselves with them.
Lincoln and Elijah approached Sean, asking if they could buy guns.
After all, the mercenaries’ primary responsibility was to protect Hans; given the jungle’s danger, firearms would undoubtedly increase their control.
Sean smiled and told them, "Don’t worry, we’ll have a solution once we reach the jungle."
Sean was not impressed by the old guns carried by the mercenaries.
Although there were new guns available on the black market, their prices were almost ten times higher in the Beautiful Country!
He didn’t know if it was because of Hans’ budget constraints or Jason’s and the others’ agenda, but Sean could tell that the guns they got had their wooden parts visibly worn out.
He didn’t like them.
Hans hired a motorboat through Mila’s translation and followed the Amazon River’s tributary into the jungle.
One of the four mercenaries stood guard at the bow, while another stayed at the stern with the boat owner. The other two, in the middle, protected Hans.
Elijah and Lincoln followed Sean.
Jason suddenly asked Elijah, "You two were soldiers? Chinese soldiers?"
Elijah nodded.
"How about a little sparring when we find a campsite?"
Wilson, who hadn’t spoken, suddenly suggested.
Elijah ignored him.
As Wilson tried to speak again, Jason stopped him.
Sean didn’t bother with them; he and Hans were studying the map.
It was an old map, with a red line drawn on it.
"Originally, we followed this line deep into the jungle," Hans explained. "Upon reaching the headwaters of this river, we’ll take the land route, passing through two tribes before arriving at the outskirts."
This seemed simple!
Confused, Sean thought that once they arrived, even if the remaining journey was challenging, there shouldn’t be much left to cover, right?
Seeing Sean’s confusion, Hans explained, "Not really. The wizard we’re searching for is revered by several tribes.
The area he oversees spans over 100 square kilometers!
Searching for the treasure within such a vast expanse in the jungle is like looking for a needle in a haystack."
With this explanation, Sean understood.
He’d think about it when they arrived at the location.
They continued upriver for several tens of kilometers. The river channels were complex, and the headwaters seemed to be flooding, resulting in turbid river water mixed with occasional animal carcasses.
Sean then saw crocodiles and giant pythons in the river.
Watching the seven or eight-meter-long creatures moving through the water, Sean thought they must be the true rulers of the jungle, right?
