Chapter 186: Chapter 185: Going South, Big Gains This Time!

Sean Knight was determined to get the Bronze Man back, but he wasn’t really that interested in it.

Seeing that the security was good and the visitors were basically orderly, Sean felt relieved.

Evelyn Taylor had finished the procedures, said goodbye to Colin Sullivan, and then took Sean out.

"I can’t believe going to your university has a subsidy! I thought I would have to pay a lot!"

Sean didn’t really understand this, nor did he want to.

"You just study hard then, whether you stay here or go back to practice medicine, it’s a good thing to spread Traditional Chinese Medicine."

Sean gave a solid encouragement, and Evelyn surprisingly nodded in agreement.

After a farewell hug with Evelyn, Sean didn’t go home, but directly summoned Elijah Hastings, to head south together.

There are provinces bordering Myanmar in the south, several cities there are famous for jadeite.

If it wasn’t for the political situation in Northern Myanmar and too many scammers, Sean would be tempted to go to the mountain mine.

They went to Ruili, which is said to be the distribution center for raw jade, and that was Sean’s destination.

Ruili is the first stop for the Myanmar jade to enter China.

Since Myanmar cancelled the public disk market and customs strict monitoring of raw jade, the regional and policy advantages of Ruili became more apparent.

Customs statistics indicate that of the 20,000 tons of raw jade produced in Myanmar annually, approximately 6000 tons flow into China, 4000 tons of which are entered through the Ruili "jadeite road".

The Ruili jade market is the first stop of Myanmar raw jade into China. Every day 80% of the transactions take place between 7 am and 12 noon, traders that come here include merchants from China, Myanmar, Pakistan, India, Nepal, etc..

Ruili operates over 1200 merchants, more than 800 of which are Myanmar merchants.

Sean and Elijah had done their homework in advance and arrived early.

As expected, there was a large amount of raw jade, some on stalls, some directly placed on the square for people to choose from.

However, what depressed Sean was that the majority here were large windows, and not many were full betting raw jade.

"Actually, I heard that because of the favorable rent here, along with some tax exemption policies, the price of raw jade is even cheaper than Myanmar’s public disk." Elijah whispered:

"So I suggest buying directly here."

"Alright." Sean thought it made sense.

Following the stalls one by one, the eye of the sky opened, and a strong spiritual aura permeated.

Fortunately, after the upgrade, the attraction of Sky Eye to spiritual energy had significantly reduced. Before coming from New York, he drew the spiritual energy from Penson Smith’s jade, the Sky Eye was in a semi-satisfied state.

So now he could stroll casually, without any restraint.

"How much for this?" Sean scanned a soccer ball sized, black-grey raw jade and asked the boss directly.

"120,000." The boss was a short woman in her thirties, burying her head in a mobile phone video. Hearing Sean’s question, she raised her head, glanced at him and quoted a price.

"Can it be cheaper?" Elijah asked a sentence.

The boss didn’t respond.

"Alright, we’ll take it at this price." Sean bought it directly.

Inside there was a fist-sized icy jadeite, full of spiritual energy.

After transferring the money, Sean took the jadeite, then Elijah took it from him and put it in his backpack.

This piece of raw jade weighing tens of kilograms was not too heavy.

After passing two more stalls, Sean started asking again:

"Boss, how much for this piece of raw jade?"

"12,000 per kilogram." The boss was a woman with long hair and responded with a smile.

A lot of people around were shining a high-powered flashlight on their half-open windowed raw jade. They noticed Sean asking about the price and turned their attention to him.

Sean asked a question:

"Can it be cheaper?"

"We’ll weigh it and see." The female boss said.

It weighed eleven kilograms.

"How about $120,000?" Sean Knight proposed again.

"Deal!" the boss agreed.

From the reactions of the people around, Sean Knight felt he might have overpaid.

But in reality, the jadeite in this piece was even larger than the last one, an extremely green icy species.

As he picked up the jade to put in his backpack, someone spoke up, "Boss, you’re generous. Aren’t you going to carve it a bit to see?"

"Exactly, just carve a little! Let’s share in your good fortune."

"No need." Sean Knight shook his head. Elijah Hastings put the jadeite in the backpack, and the two left.

No one stopped them - no idiots like the ones portrayed in novels and films.

This was somewhat surprising, and disappointing, for Elijah Hastings.

As was customary, they bought four more pieces of jadeite. Only when they couldn’t carry any more did they leave.

Back at the inn, Sean Knight asked Elijah Hastings to place the jadeite in his room - he was staying in the business suite next door.

After completely absorbing the energy from the jadeite, Sean Knight lay contentedly on his bed.

It felt great.

The next day, they shipped back home the pieces of jadeite which are now just for show, then Sean and Elijah continued their shopping spree.

Within a few days, all the market runners knew that a big boss — or, more accurately, a fool — had arrived who specialized in buying rough jadeite.

He barely negotiated prices, bought whatever he had his eyes on, and didn’t carve anything.

No one knew if he was afraid of carving it badly and losing face, or if he had other plans for it.

Nevertheless, anyone with rough jadeite brought out their supplies.

Even though there was nothing exceptionally large, Sean Knight didn’t pick and choose, he just bought whatever contained quality jadeite and took it away.

Over these few days, he bought tens of smaller and larger jadeite stones. Finally, the energy of Sky Eye was saturated.

Then, after absorbing a fist-sized, walnut-sized colorless glass-species jadeite stone, the Sky Eye upgraded again.

It felt like he could see even farther.

To Sean Knight’s surprise, it seemed that his jade pendant was also absorbing energy, making the spatial realm in the pendant larger!

Although it only expanded by about one meter in each dimension, it was a substantial improvement!

He now had a direction for future upgrades!

Sean Knight was somewhat happy, bought more jadeite pieces, and got bored in the end, so decided to pivot to the jade wholesale market.

At the jade wholesale market, Sean Knight bought quite a few things.

Three jadeite bracelets, one for Granny — an icy species with colorful spring inclusions for $500,000; one for his mother — an icy species in Chicken Oil Yellow for $450,000; the last one, an icy species with floating flower design for $400,000, meant for Joanna Davis.

The men at home didn’t wear jewelry, otherwise, his father wouldn’t have given him the white jade pendant.

If it weren’t for the pendant’s critical use, Sean Knight would also not have been accustomed to wearing it. However, he still bought a lot.

A jade cigarette holder for Grandfather, a handle piece for his other Grandfather, a belt buckle for his first brother, Oscar Knight, and some other stuff which were not cheap, all as gifts.

A shop owner thought that Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings were novices and also rich, so he tried to sell them fake jade.

Then, they packed up and hit the road home.

They arrived home before the shipped jade did.

Just two days after getting back to the house, he received a phone call from Jason Caldwell.

"You’re saying, an old man named George Thomas came to the freight yard with a few guys looking for me?"

Sean Knight was somewhat surprised.

Having initially thought that he would not cross paths with this old man again, he never expected him to show up.

What’s going on?
