Chapter 172: Chapter 171: What is This?

Should they continue to transport the treasure, or go take a look at the other team’s discovery?

Penson was feeling torn.

Sean Knight chuckled and suggested:

"Why not go together and have a look?"

Penson was surprised by Sean’s proposal but happily agreed:

"Great!"

After saying this, they checked the items they had brought with them at the scene. Once they had finished checking, they all hopped on an assault boat and headed for the nearest coast to the other team. They secured the boat and then started climbing up the mountain.

This place had only a few meters of beach, followed by a steep slope of sixty to seventy degrees, making the climb quite dangerous.

Fortunately, whether it was Penson or his bodyguards, they were all experts in outdoor activities.

Elijah Hastings needed no mention, out of everyone he had the most experience and was the fastest.

Although Sean was a bit less experienced and skilled, he compensated with his strength and agility. Watching the others, he mimicked their movements adequately.

As they climbed up the mountainside, they saw the medic from the other team, Evelyn Taylor.

Sean remembered that he had met Evelyn on the way there. This beautiful blonde girl was from a medical background and was curious about traditional Chinese medicine. She had even discussed it with Sean.

Sean had only told her that he knew a little bit about it, and the two hadn’t explored it further.

Seeing Penson and the others coming over, Evelyn waved to them and then led them to the location where they had discovered the "treasure".

This was located on the mountainside, they had already dug a hole. Sean looked around and made a guess.

Elijah Hastings leaned in and quietly asked him:

"Do you think there’s a treasure here?"

"There might be." Sean pointed at the coastline, then pointed at the dug-out hole and said:

"It’s very possible that the ship inside here had sailed in through some hole during high tide."

The island was large, so if there was a cave at the other place, it’s naturally possible that there was one here.

Otherwise, how would the ship have gotten in?

But as for what was on the ship, that was hard to say.

"We first detected a large space underneath and a large amount of metal reactions, so we excavated the entrance. We wanted to invite Mr. Penson over, but then..."

Evelyn glanced at Sean but didn’t continue.

However, her expression clearly showed that Penson was taken away by Sean.

Evelyn was more than a little resentful, feeling both her tone and expression showed it was unfair to her team.

Of course, pointing out their discovery of the cave entrance on their side, was her way of making a statement about their superiority.

Listening, Sean just smiled, not giving any indication.

It was Penson who interrupted her:

"Mr. Knight has found the treasure."

"Found the treasure?" Evelyn was stunned and asked again: "Really?"

"Yes." Penson said with a smile, "Piles of gold and silver coins."

"Then we..." Evelyn suddenly excited, "We have also observed a large number of metal responses here, gold and silver, and a large ship. Isn’t this the treasure?"

Penson remained silent, but Sean interjected:

"Actually... why can’t there be two treasures? Here as well as over there."

Evelyn’s mouth opened and closed, indecision clear on her face.

Could it really be like that?

From the time they had boarded the boat, when they had found out a lone boy was going to join them on the treasure hunt, they had not held Sean in high regard.

After all, treasure hunting was not play; it required professional skills, knowledge, and a large amount of experience.

What did this Sean Knight have?

All they observed was that aside from luck, he had nothing!

Therefore, they hadn’t taken Sean seriously at the time and their interactions were pleasant enough.

Until they reached the island and Penson didn’t join their team, instead he insisted on being with Sean’s team. That’s when Evelyn and her team leader, as well as the others, became angry.

Did they not trust us?

It was only then that they officially regarded Sean as a rival, swearing to outdo him in the treasure hunt!

They also believed they had succeeded!

The second day, they had already located the general position. Localization, search, metal detection, all showed a large amount of activity here!

Some team members even laughed at Peter’s previous hires, as they had searched for so long without finding this location!

Of course, halfway up the hillside, the cavern was five or six meters deep. If they weren’t such a professional team and didn’t have that stroke of luck, they wouldn’t have found it either.

When they found it, they contacted Penson, wanting him to come over.

This was to show off their professionalism, their capabilities!

But Penson didn’t come!

Every member of the team was eager to unearth the treasure as soon as possible and show Penson that his choice was wrong!

They worked through the night to dig the hole, and they succeeded.

At the moment they saw the large ship, almost all of them were convinced that this was the treasure!

After all, the information that Penson had received from his father, Peter, was that the treasure was a "ship full of treasure".

And this was a large ship!

As they sent people down to explore and contacted Penson via satellite phone,

Never would they have expected that when Penson’s phone finally got through and he decided to come, he would bring Sean with him.

What was more shocking to Evelyn was that Sean had found the treasure first!

This dramatic turnaround left her almost breathless!

She had never felt so distraught!

She had always considered herself an elite, and all members of her team were elites.

An elite team was actually beaten by an amateur boy!

She found it hard to accept!

"Shall we go down?" Seeing Evelyn looking dazed, Penson gently reminded her.

"Sure, sure, from here!" Awakening from her daze, Evelyn strived to maintain her composure and professionalism, pointing to the area where they would descend by rope. "We need to rappel down, not sure if..."

The others all expressed that they could, Sean felt a bit awkward and admitted:

"I can’t."

"I’ll help you," Evelyn volunteered.

With this, Elijah who had been ready to step in, kept his mouth shut.

He believed that Sean wouldn’t need his assistance at this time, right?

Evelyn carefully taught Sean how to rappel down, inevitably their skin touched.

Sean suddenly asked:

"Are you resentful?"

Evelyn was taken aback, she shook her head, then nodded.

There was no need to be hypocritical.

"I just got lucky," Sean comforted her, and then he began to descend.

"Luck - is also an ability," Evelyn returned, seemingly accepting the fact that Sean had found the treasure first.

Sean didn’t dwell on it, as getting to know and interact with each other and giving some comfort was enough.

Descending down, he felt quite thrilled.

Down there, several emergency lights had been set up, so it wasn’t dark.

As they landed one after another and looked around, the most conspicuous thing was indeed a large ship.

Sean, however, saw that although the ship was currently stranded, there were traces of water erosion on the ground.

In the direction of the coast, a huge space lead through.

That’s how the ship must’ve gotten in.

Then he looked towards the large ship, and couldn’t help but smile.

How interesting.
