Chapter 158: Chapter 157: Doubt and Counterattack
Because of Charlie’s incident, by the time they returned to the wooden cabin, it was already dark for a while.
Sean Knight’s dinner was nothing more than compressed dried food and water.
Sean didn’t complain and ate heartily in front of Peter’s subordinates.
Peter’s subordinate sneered and left the wooden cabin to go to Peter’s room.
"Is he eating?" Peter intended to make things difficult for Sean, so he sent the worst food.
"Yes, he ate very quickly," the subordinate reported, "No complaints."
"Hmph! It’s the endurance of the Yellow Race indeed!" Peter felt disdain, "From now on, just give him this kind of food."
Charlie was Peter’s trusted subordinate, always obedient and very loyal.
So with Charlie missing, Peter guessed that he probably had an accident.
Although he felt it might be related to Sean, Sean didn’t have any weapons, and nothing suspicious was found during the search at the scene, so Peter knew that the treasure hunt was more important even though he was angry.
Let’s settle this after finding the treasure!
"Be careful during your shifts tonight," Peter was very concerned about his safety, "Beware of unknown persons attacking!"
Peter wasn’t surprised that there might be people or danger on the island.
He would bring people to search for the treasure from time to time, and no matter how well he tried to hide their traces, someone would eventually find out.
Deploying people here to search or ambush in advance wasn’t an impossible thing.
That night, one of Peter’s subordinates was assigned to Sean’s room again.
Sean guessed that Peter wouldn’t make a move on him and there was no need for a sneak attack, so he slept soundly.
It was Peter’s subordinate who was ordered to observe Sean, and he didn’t sleep well all night.
The next day, Sean’s breakfast was still water and compressed biscuits. Sean tossed it aside and angrily said to Peter’s subordinate:
"Can you eat these every day? I want to change the food!"
"If you don’t want to eat it, fine!" Peter’s subordinate, following orders, grumpily said, "If you don’t plan to eat, get to work quickly!"
Sean didn’t expect Peter to be so disgusting, and this subordinate either acted as a bully or honestly carried out Peter’s orders to make things difficult for him. It seemed that they didn’t intend to let Sean live a good life.
Alright then, let’s hurt each other!
Sean picked up his backpack and walked out, looking like he was stomping off in anger.
Peter saw all this and shook his head, thinking even lower of Sean.
"Young and impulsive. Fails to be submissive when necessary, but not being tough when needed. What a fool!"
With the last bit of doubt about Sean gone, Peter immediately sent his subordinates out. He had to eliminate the danger on the island and catch the thief trying to steal his treasure!
Peter and his subordinates were very familiar with the entire island, and they knew all the key hiding spots around, excluding the central forest.
As for Sean, Peter couldn’t care for him anymore.
Finding the treasure was, of course, the most important thing. If they couldn’t find it, they would focus on safety first.
It wasn’t the first time they had encountered a problem, so Peter wasn’t particularly disappointed.
Sean and Peter’s subordinate walked all the way to where Charlie "disappeared" yesterday. Sean slowed down and found some sea fish, crabs, and seaweed from the seaside. He took out a portable stove and pot from his backpack and started cooking.
"What are you doing?" Seeing Sean cooking instead of searching for the treasure, Peter’s subordinate shouted angrily:
"You! Immediately! Quickly go find the treasure! Don’t waste time here!"
"I haven’t eaten anything all morning. How am I supposed to have energy to look for the treasure?" Sean rolled his eyes, "Even the king of hell doesn’t starve ghosts, let alone I’m hired for treasure hunting, not your slave!"
"You better listen to me!" The subordinate didn’t listen to Sean’s explanation and pulled out his pistol, threatening him:
"Otherwise, I’ll let you taste the power of a bullet!"
With no other choice, Sean reluctantly put out the fire, put away the portable stove, and picked up the pot.
Seeing Sean’s unwilling expression, Peter’s subordinate showed disdain. It was just some stinking fish and crabs, not some delicacies. His reluctance was disgusting!
Thinking so, he put away his gun.
At that moment, everything changed!
Sean suddenly swung the pot sideways, smacking it heavily into Peter’s subordinate!
The subordinate, with his hand still on his waist, was only able to guard by turning his body sideways. The nearly red-hot bottom of the pot smashed heavily onto his shoulder!
This bodyguard was one of the strongest among Peter’s subordinates. His reaction couldn’t be called slow, and after retreating two steps, he tried to keep his distance. He believed that as long as he kept his distance, he could rely on his strength to defeat this yellow monkey!
But how could Sean possibly give him the opportunity?
The pot struck again with even greater force and faster speed, smashing into the face of the opponent!
One hit every five seconds!
Peter’s subordinate had no time to react, and he was knocked to the ground!
Sean didn’t stop his attack. He didn’t put away the pot until his opponent was completely silent.
After looking around and making sure no one was there, Sean quickly hid the bodyguard in his spatial realm.
After disposing of the traces, Sean quickly left the place and continued walking forward.
Not far from where they dug yesterday, Sean started digging again.
Soon, Sean unearthed a wooden box, and then another one.
There were indeed many things left by pirates here.
For example, these two boxes contained coins from that time, one golden and one silver.
Both boxes were only about a foot square, not very large.
Sean took the box with golden coins and tied up the box with silver coins using a rope, dragging it to the seaside.
Happily cooking a pot of seafood by the seashore and eating a delicious meal, Sean dragged the box of silver coins back — of course, using a different pot.
When they returned to the wooden cabin and saw that Sean came back alone, Peter asked with a serious face:
"Where is Achak?"
"Achak?" Sean seemed puzzled.
"The one who went with you this morning!" Peter impatiently explained, "Where did he go?"
"He came back first!" Sean struggled to put the box down in front of Peter, "I found a box of gold coins first, and he said he was in a hurry to report back to you and took it with him. I then found another box of silver coins — phew, I’m exhausted!"
"He came back first?" Peter looked incredulous, "Carrying the gold coins?"
"Of course, not exactly carrying them," Sean wiped his sweat, pointing to the silver coin box, "Asked me for a rope to drag it."
Peter was half-believing and half-doubting:
"Really?"
"Could I lie to you?" Sean looked innocent, "I also wanted to bring it back myself, but I couldn’t beat him in a fight!"
Peter nodded as if it made sense.
But where did Achak go?
