Chapter 153: Chapter 152: This person is too tenacious!

Sean had no idea that he was being targeted by a big crocodile.

Every day, he would spend time with Joanna, either going to the freight yard or hanging out at the farmhouse. Life was pretty leisurely.

One day, Jason gave him a call, saying there was something important.

At that moment, Sean was in Seven Axes Bar.

Mr. John wanted to return the terracotta figurine to Sean because the person who originally wanted to buy the Indian treasure had backed out.

According to the other party, Brown put out a large quantity of goods at a low price, so that person bought a few items and no longer planned to buy them from Sean.

"Keep it as a gift from me," Sean didn’t take back the figurine, "I still have plenty."

Mr. John did not refuse, although he felt a little embarrassed.

He boasted about his extensive connections, but he had stumbled on this matter, which was quite humiliating.

After receiving Jason’s phone call, Sean said goodbye to Mr. John, and hurried over.

In the freight yard, Jason led Sean to a container.

"This is sent from a certain coastal province in China."

Jason did not specify the situation over the phone, so Sean still didn’t know what was going on.

"And then?"

Jason lowered his voice:

"Starting two days ago, there have been sounds coming from inside...someone...or something, is knocking."

Sean was stunned, could it be that someone was trying to smuggle themselves in?

No, there actually were!

He thought of the several refugee incidents that had happened before and the people who had tried to smuggle themselves to another country only to die from the cold.

He immediately asked,

"When did this container arrive? How long has it been in the freight yard?"

"It’s been here for more than a week." Bondi spoke up, "The owner signed for it at the pier and then had it trucked to our yard, renting it for a month."

Sean activated his Sky Eye to take a look inside and was shocked!

"Jason, get the large pliers, open it up!"

Bondi hesitated,

"Bosuns, this is against the rules."

"Never mind the rules for now!" Sean urgently said, "If there is a person inside, their life is more important than the rules!"

Seeing Bondi still trying to dissuade him, Sean continued,

"If it were your compatriot inside, what would you do?"

Bondi said no more.

By this time, Jason had already fetched the pliers.

He didn’t have as many concerns as Bondi; if Bosuns wanted to take it, then he would take it.

Sean let Jason break the lock, and he himself opened the container door, revealing a stench of sour, decayed odor.

Several boxes were piled near the entrance of the container. Sean, Jason, and the others moved them aside, revealing the makeshift setup inside.

In the back half of the container, there were bedding, a large number of empty water cans, and buckets of compressed dried food.

Most importantly, there was a person who was now emaciated, lying on the bedding.

This person had long hair and a beard, as if he hadn’t attended to them for a long time. His clothes were filthy.

He was still alive, most likely just unconscious from hunger or illness.

The excrement had been stored in black plastic bags and set aside.

Even with the bags sealed, the smell still seeped out.

There was a lamp lying next to the bedding, but it was no longer lit.

The conditions were not bad.

But it felt a bit odd.

Sean took a brief look and then quickly told Jason,

"Take him to that container room you used to rent, rent one for now, find someone to take care of him, and call a doctor to come and check him out."

Jason immediately found someone to help, and Sean told Bondi,

"Buy a new lock and lock it up. If anyone comes looking, just say I made you do it. But I think the owner of the container probably won’t want it back."

Based on the arrangement inside the container, Sean speculated that the person inside knew, or even that the owner of the container and the unconscious man were smuggling partners.

It was not something that could be arranged quickly.

However, using this method for smuggling was quite unexpected—the container would drift at sea for one or two months before reaching its destination, while it would only take one or two days if they flew by plane.

Could there be any hidden reason?

Sean was a bit curious.

Half a day later, Sean received another phone call from Jason.

"Bosuns, that fellow has woken up. The doctor said he only lacked electrolytes, water, and nutrition, so as long as he gets plenty of rest and proper nutrition, he’ll recover quickly. He wants to see you..."

Sean drove to the container house.

Returning to the familiar place, he couldn’t help but feel a bit nostalgic for the past.

Upon arrival, Sean saw the still-unshaven man.

He was indeed one of his compatriots.

"You saved me? Thank you! I owe you my life!"

Sean waved him off as Jason and the small black man left, allowing the two of them to chat in Mandarin.

"You must have planned to smuggle yourself here, but how did you end up in this condition?"

"Damn snakehead, said I’d be let out of the container once we got to the port, but I never expected him to run...I have to get my revenge when I get better!"

"What’s your name?" Jason had reported that there was no ID in the container, so they had no idea what this person did for a living.

"My name is Elijah Hastings, I came here to do something." The man didn’t say much.

Sean could tell by now that Elijah was quite young, probably even younger than himself.

"You’d better rest up for a while; you won’t be able to walk, let alone do anything." Sean didn’t know much about Elijah’s background. "Also, you don’t have an identity here, so you can stay here, and I can find someone to help you get through, but outside, you’ll be dead in the water."

Elijah’s face showed a disheartened expression.

"Alright, just rest well, we’ll talk more once you’re better." Sean stood up, and since the other party wouldn’t talk, he wasn’t the gossiping type, but he would still try to help a fellow countryman as much as he could.

However, he had to be cautious with someone he just met.

Eagerly watching Sean leave, Elijah guessed that his compatriot wasn’t the type of person who had grown up in a place like this.

He still had the air of a young person from China.

But the things he had to do couldn’t be told to outsiders.

Now that the snakehead had disappeared and his identity was non-existent, he couldn’t do anything.

Depressing.

Three days later, Jason called Sean again,

"Bosuns, your compatriot wants to see you."

Sean, having nothing better to do, went back to the container house.

"I want to ask for your help." By now, Elijah had shaved his beard and cut his hair, looking much more energetic.

He was only twenty-one or twenty-two years old, but his face was resolute. Sean guessed that he had probably been a soldier before.

"Tell me," Sean said, "What’s the problem?"

"I have a very important matter to take care of." Elijah looked Sean in the eye, "I was supposed to get my things from the snakehead, but he’s gone missing. This matter is extremely important to me—"

"What do you need?"

"Weapons, some money, and...if possible, an identity, even if it’s fake."

Sean pondered for a moment, and before he could speak, Elijah continued,

"Once I’ve finished my task, I can work for you for three years!"

"What abilities do you have?" Sean asked.

"I’m a special forces soldier. I can be a bodyguard, a laborer, and as long as it doesn’t go against my principles, I can do anything!"

"How can I trust you?" Sean countered.

That question left Elijah speechless.

Sean wasn’t so naive as to believe that he had an overbearing spirit.

He had money, but it hadn’t fallen out of the sky.

There had to be an exchange, and the terms had to be explicitly laid out.
