Chapter 1506: Chapter 718: Careless
As the current threatened to sweep Sean Knight into the seafloor canyon, he released several big boxes with his right hand. The moment a box hit the water, it was almost swept away by the current, but in that instant, Sean stomped hard on the box, and his momentum was immediately slowed down.
With the force he had gathered, he surged upward, breaking free from the swift current. Following the same technique, he threw another box behind him, kicked off it, and finally, he gently landed on the edge of the canyon under the pressure of the seawater.
He suddenly coughed, and blood seeped from his mouth.
This time, he had been careless, and the injury was not light!
The spiritual energy within his body circulated wildly, but the fractured bones would not heal in a short time.
What was more critical was that he was hundreds of meters underwater. If he had been in good condition, it would have been fine, but now, with serious injuries, the pressure was becoming too much for him.
He knew he needed to get back to the boat as soon as possible, or else he would die here!
Suppressing the urge to cough, Sean looked towards the end of the rope and saw that the rock it had been tied to had been pulled away—no wonder the rope had come loose.
He had underestimated the force of the current, the difficulty of this dive, and overestimated the endurance of that rock.
However, no matter what, he could not stay at the bottom of the sea any longer. He had to ascend quickly.
He could already feel several clots of congealed blood stuck in his throat.
Sean slowly swam upward, blood oozed from the corners of his mouth and nostrils.
He couldn’t stop it.
Even though the spiritual energy in his body was furiously repairing his wounds, this time the injury was too severe, and the intense surrounding pressure prevented his body from recovering quickly.
When he had ascended more than three hundred meters, several dark figures rushed towards him quickly!
Clearly, they were attracted by the scent of blood, coming over to snatch a meal!
If Sean had been well, he wouldn’t have worried at all; these few fish would not pose a threat to him.
But at this moment, the threat of these fish had greatly multiplied!
Sean took preemptive action, retrieving an AK submachine gun from his spatial realm and spraying bullets their way.
Although the bullets’ lethality diminished after traveling only a few meters underwater and posed no threat to the fish, those that were close took real hits and were genuinely wounded. The two fish that rushed forward first immediately stopped their aggressive momentum. Though ferocious, bullets were not pleasant to any creature.
Sean did not stop firing for a moment. He spread his shots in a fan shape, hitting all the fish that came close first.
Having sustained injuries, large clouds of blood spread out in the water, and Sean took the opportunity to ascend further.
However, not far up, two fish that were less injured rushed towards him again, opening their large mouths ready to chomp down on Sean.
Sean stuffed a hand grenade into the mouth of each fish with a backhand throw, then swiftly continued to ascend.
Despite his injuries, Sean’s reactions were extremely quick in the water, his movements still decent, and his responses well-calculated.
But this ascending motion was too quick, and he bled from the mouth again.
The two fish didn’t resist the objects in their mouths and still tried to bite Sean. Just as their mouths were about to touch Sean’s lower leg, the grenades exploded inside them, sending a large cloud of blood into the water!
The bodies of the big fish blocked the shrapnels from the grenades. By the time the fragments reached Sean, they had lost much of their force, not even breaking his skin.
Instead, the shockwave from the explosions propelled Sean further up.
The blast also affected the other injured fish, and a large cloud of blood attracted even more fish. Sean took advantage of the situation and left the dangerous area, continuing to ascend.
Because he had injured his ribs, which affected his lungs, Sean was feeling rather stuffy.
Normally, a regular diver would not ascend quickly from such deep waters, to avoid decompression sickness.
But Sean had no time to worry about that now, and regarding his physical condition, the threat from the pressure was nothing compared to his current injury, so he ascended quickly, taking out two waves of predators looking for an easy meal, and finally saw the light above.
Sean’s Sky Eye was still effective. He found the yacht’s location from about forty to fifty meters below the surface and then adjusted his course to surface right by the deck.
Elijah Hastings and the two others were already anxiously waiting at the edge of the deck. Seeing Sean surface without his diving gear, expressions of astonishment appeared on their faces. Elijah reacted the fastest, immediately pulling Sean onboard.
"Is the boss hurt?" Lincoln Harrington noticed Sean’s pained expression and quickly asked, "Do we need to take you to the hospital immediately?"
"No need, no need," Sean exhaled longly as he lay on the deck, the corners of his mouth twitched slightly, and he managed a strained smile, "I was careless... but it’s not too bad."
He had nothing in his hands and did not want to boast of any accomplishments; besides, even speaking a few words was very uncomfortable at the moment. He figured it was best to focus on healing his injuries first.
Once freed from the pressure of the sea, the spiritual energy within his body began to quickly repair his injuries, and within moments, Sean felt the pain in his chest significantly lessen.
Elijah and the others wanted to carry Sean to the bedroom, but Sean gestured for them not to worry and slowly stood up. As he walked towards the bedroom, he said, "Let’s go, head back to Port."
