Chapter 1495: Chapter 712 Does this count as good people getting good rewards?_2
After such a blow, Cheryl Suweton had no desire to go on another adventure, at least temporarily. Other than wanting to be with Sean Knight, she just wanted to hurry home!
Sean Knight knew this was the case, however, it wasn’t possible to go straight back at the moment. After all, there was no airport on the island, and navigating ships at night from the port wasn’t ideal. Plus, their group of five, with four of them having fought for a day, were incredibly tired. Cheryl had just been rescued after three days without food or water, hungry, thirsty, and exhausted, so they found a hotel in the Port City and settled in.
That evening, in the hotel’s own dining room, the five of them hastily consumed their food and then returned to their rooms.
Cheryl was weak and hadn’t rested well for several days. In the hotel room, she curled up in Sean Knight’s arms and quickly fell asleep.
Sean Knight occasionally used his "Sky Eye" power to clear her energy channels, otherwise, she would have nightmares all night, which would inevitably lead to nervous exhaustion.
The second day, Cheryl’s spirits had improved quite a bit. By breakfast, her complexion had returned.
Feeling that her health had improved, Cheryl brought up the topic of their recent expedition at the breakfast table.
The squad wasn’t assembled on the spot but was gathered by the then Team Leader. They had planned to finish exploring the ruins in the Faroe Islands before heading to the West Coast of Europe, where the ruins of a Middle Ages sunken ship had been discovered near an unnamed small island by fishermen.
Their plans had been interrupted by Fleming, who suggested that since they were there, they might as well explore the cave, hoping they might find some unexpected luck.
As a result, the exploration took their lives...
"A sunken ship?" Sean Knight was interested, "Where is it?"
Cheryl named a place, which Sean Knight didn’t quite understand, but Lincoln Harrington quickly found it on the map.
It was indeed near an unnamed small island close to the West Coast.
"It’s said that the sunken ship belonged to a very notorious pirate of the Middle Ages, who specialized in robbing those with letters of marque. Legend has it that he left behind endless treasure, but it has never been found," Cheryl explained.
"We’re thinking of checking it out. Do you want to join us?" Since there was a sunken pirate ship, Sean Knight was indeed interested in seeing it.
"I don’t want to go anymore," Cheryl shook her head, "I want to stay home for a while... Dear, you go ahead. Right now, our squad is the only one that knows that location, our squad... never mind, there’s no squad left now."
Cheryl’s voice was tinged with sorrow. Sean Knight consoled her, saying,
"In truth, when your team set out on this path, they should have been prepared for this. Since it was an adventure, it couldn’t possibly all go smoothly. When faced with a choice between life and death, everyone would choose life, but when you come across a danger that cannot be resisted by human efforts, then resignation is all that’s left."
Sean Knight naturally would never resign himself to fate, but he understood this principle, acknowledged it, and thus spoke of it with great calmness.
Cheryl had not expected Sean Knight to say such things, thought for a while, and finally nodded.
Did the members of her squad really not know of those dangers?
How could they not know? But they simply chose not to speak of it.
Perhaps everyone thought they were the lucky one, but when disaster struck, they realized that the world is indifferent and treats all living beings with equal disregard; no one should think their luck is any better.
Perhaps, Sean Knight was the exception.
After breakfast, they checked out, and the party of five headed to the pier, boarded a boat, and left the island for the only airport in the archipelago.
At the airport, Cheryl saw her brother, Delton Suweton.
"You’re okay, and that’s wonderful!" After hugging Cheryl, Delton sincerely said, "Because of... special reasons, our parents couldn’t come to pick you up, but they care about you deeply."
Cheryl was well aware that Swehugh’s king and queen really couldn’t just rush over here.
Then Delton came over and gave Sean Knight a tight hug. Releasing him, he gripped Sean Knight’s hand firmly and said,
"This time we really owe you! If not for you... I can’t imagine the consequences!"
Cheryl had only briefly mentioned her ordeal on the phone with Delton. No one had brought up the monsters in the cave. But from the bits and pieces, Delton understood that if Sean Knight hadn’t arrived in time, they might not have been able to see Cheryl’s body!
So even though Sean Knight was Cheryl’s lover, Delton was still very grateful to him.
Delton had always regarded Sean Knight with respect and among Cheryl’s family members, was the most hopeful that Cheryl and Sean Knight would end up together.
This time, it was also he who actively contacted Sean Knight, and looking back, it was certainly not a mistake!
"It’s what I should have done," Sean Knight chuckled, "and this time, it just so happened to coincide."
Delton Suweton of course knew it couldn’t be a coincidence. No matter what, it was Sean Knight who had saved Cheryl Suweton, and even if Sean Knight said it was what he should have done, Delton, as Cheryl’s brother, couldn’t possibly think that way.
After all, it was his sister he had saved, the Princess of Sweden!
Therefore, Delton eagerly invited Sean Knight to join them on the airplane to Sweden.
"This time, both the King and the Queen are very keen to meet you," Delton said. "They believe it’s truly fortuitous that Cheryl met you!"
Sean Knight had originally planned to hand Cheryl over to Delton and then head to the seaside with Elijah Hastings and his team to look for the sunken ship.
Now he had to make a trip to Sweden first.
But it was not a big deal, so Sean Knight went with Delton and Cheryl to Sweden.
The news of Cheryl’s disappearance had spread within a small circle, so when she returned safely, the King and Queen organized a small cocktail party for her.
After all, during her absence, many who were in the know had sent their regards—following certain circles’ rules, which needed to be adhered to.
Being the one who had saved Cheryl, Sean Knight naturally needed to appear at the cocktail party with her.
So, when Cheryl appeared in her ball gown, arm in arm with Sean Knight in his suit, many of Europe’s young talents’ eyes widened.
Although it was known that Cheryl had been in a relationship, her constant traveling over the past two years didn’t appear consistent with settling down.
And the King and Queen of Sweden were being rather evasive about it.
But now that the two were public together, it showed, at least, that the King and Queen had given their tacit approval.
Many were disappointed, for Cheryl was so beautiful, and as the Princess of Sweden, a graceful lady is a prize for a gentleman—it was only natural.
However, now that things had moved into the open, there was no more room for speculation.
Sean Knight made only this appearance, and Sweden didn’t offer much explanation, merely stating his name and that he had rescued Cheryl.
Since the party was small anyway, not many knew the details, and everyone tacitly agreed not to spread the word, but upon learning Sean Knight’s name and doing some digging, the picture became clear.
This man was not only a kindred spirit with Cheryl but was also a rare wealthy individual with assets scattered around the world—beating him would be difficult.
Sean Knight stayed in Sweden for three days, then took the yacht provided by Delton to the unnamed small island.
Originally, Sean Knight had wanted to bring his own yacht or use the one he gave to Cheryl, if need be.
However, as that yacht was a bit small for the salvage operation, Delton had the royal family’s much larger yacht made available for Sean Knight’s use.
Cheryl didn’t follow this time; after all, she had just emerged from the cave a few days ago—her psychological trauma hadn’t completely faded, and Sweden’s royal psychological counselors were in the process of providing her therapeutic support.
Delton had initially planned to send some staff to assist Sean Knight, but Sean Knight had declined.
How could one bring outsiders on a treasure hunt in the sea? Besides, wouldn’t that hinder their movements?
Moreover, this time they were just scouting around, unlike the last time they went after the seafloor city ruins, so Sean Knight and his team were merely taking a chance.
After all, having come this far, to have nothing to show for it other than saving Cheryl during their stay in the Faroe Islands didn’t fit Sean Knight’s character, did it?
The yacht quickly approached the vicinity of the small island.
"Boss, according to the coordinates, it’s right here," Lincoln Harrington reported to Sean Knight on the deck.
The water was forty to fifty meters deep, about 500 sea miles from the unnamed small island.
Using Sky Eye, Sean Knight searched the area.
Soon, he spotted what seemed to be pieces of a sunken ship’s hull.
