Chapter 1494: Chapter 712: Is This What They Mean by Good People Get Good Rewards?
Sean Knight stepped out of the crevice and immediately threw a hand grenade into it before quickly leaving the place with Cheryl Suweton.
A muffled bang erupted, and a large cloud of smoke billowed from the crevice, followed by falling chunks of stone.
The rock was inherently limestone, and its structure wasn’t tight, so even a small explosion was enough to block the crevice.
Continuing upward, Sean threw hand grenades at several key places, causing a thunderous noise that echoed through the cave interior.
When the five of them exited the cave, Sean threw another grenade into the cave, but this time, he threw two.
"Boom! Boom!"
The hand grenades exploded one after the other, and huge chunks of Mountain stone fell, completely blocking the cave entrance.
It was only then that Cheryl finally caught her breath, sitting down on the ground and panting heavily.
"It’s okay now, it’s okay," Sean said as he patted her back, channeling spiritual energy into her and comforting her.
"Wow—" Cheryl couldn’t help but cry out loud when Sean comforted her, "They... they were all killed by those monsters..."
Sean shook his head and said,
"It’s an unavoidable situation... How did you think of coming here for an adventure? Who would have thought that there would be so many monsters here?"
After crying for a while, Elijah Hastings had fetched some clothes from the car. While Sean was virtually immune to the cold, Cheryl wasn’t. He draped the clothes over Cheryl, retrieved his own, and gently urged,
"Let’s get in the car first, it’s quite cold here."
They had caused quite a commotion in the cave, and the sun had already set, darkening the sky.
Cheryl obediently followed Sean and the others into the car. Sitting in the back seat, she leaned against Sean, her face pale, a far cry from her initial spirited and vivacious demeanor.
She was just a fragile woman.
"The one who persuaded us to come here for the adventure is a colleague from Denmark named Fleming. He has been in this field longer than I had, quite famous."
Sean nodded; the Faroe Islands were nominally part of Denmark. Although they had been seeking independence and were a self-governing territory, they hadn’t yet achieved separation.
So, this Fleming must have some understanding of the cave.
"He said that people had taken large Diamonds out of this cave before, but others had mysteriously disappeared after entering, so he hoped someone would accompany him for an adventure—
When we didn’t find anything at the ruin site, we decided to check out the cave."
"Didn’t you prepare anything?"
"We did prepare," Cheryl whispered, "We brought guns, but shortly after entering the cave, several of us got separated, and then... then we heard several screams..."
The past was too painful to revisit; Cheryl’s face turned paler, and her body started trembling. Sean quickly patted her and said,
"No need to mention it, it’s all in the past... Those monsters have been killed."
Actually, when Sean left, he still kept two monster corpses in the spatial realm, but of course, he couldn’t say that.
He thought this information might be useful someday, so he kept it just in case.
"Oh, let’s call your home first. Prince Delton must be very anxious!" Sean suddenly remembered something.
Guilt appeared on Cheryl’s face. She had been gallivanting outside, causing her family to worry. If it wasn’t for Sean this time, she probably would truly have been in a monster’s stomach.
When the phone call connected, and Sean said "Hello," a weary voice from Delton came through:
"Sean Knight? I know. Cheryl isn’t near the ruins... I hired someone else who has already searched there, Cheryl must have left the Faroe Islands..."
Sean was taken aback, what did that mean?
"No, no, no, Delton, you’re mistaken, Cheryl is here on the island..."
"Sean Knight, I know you’re as anxious as I am, but we should listen to the professionals. They are very professional, they say..."
Sean didn’t wait for Delton to continue, instead, he handed the mobile phone to Cheryl.
"Delton..." Cheryl directly called his name.
"It’s... you’re... Cheryl?" Delton exclaimed, "Sean found you? Where are you? Are you okay? Are you safe?..."
A flurry of questions burst out, Delton’s speech accelerated due to his excitement, he truly believed Cheryl was alive and had been found.
The so-called professionals had searched at the ruin site and its surroundings for a long time, finally reporting to Delton that Cheryl wasn’t there.
They said Cheryl might have left the Faroe Islands, hence the need to continue searching.
Delton immediately sensed something was wrong—if Cheryl had left the Faroe Islands, there were many ways she could have contacted home during her journey, yet there had been no word from her at all, meaning only one thing—something had happened.
So when Cheryl’s voice came through, it was no surprise he was so excited—indeed, only Sean Knight could have rescued Cheryl!
"It’s okay now, I’m fine... I’m still in the Faroe Islands, we’ll head back tomorrow..." Cheryl, in an ordeal of life and death, found this experience to be more stimulating than the last time Sean had rescued
