Chapter 1473: 705

Over the next two days, Sean Knight didn’t continue to salvage underwater.

He had seen the seafloor area nearby, and every shop in the market district had more or less some valuables left.

The team members on the yacht, now working in groups, had gradually figured out how to quickly locate the good stuff beneath the silt on the seafloor.

There must still be many treasures left at the Lord’s Manor. After all, the lords of that time were extremely powerful, and they often descended from European nobles who were accustomed to luxurious decorations.

Moreover, no matter how much money they made here, they couldn’t spend it back in Europe, so they often spent a large amount of gold and silver to produce costly ornaments, tableware, and other living supplies.

Any item salvaged from here could easily be sold for several thousand dollars.

It’s just a pity that the building materials of the Lord’s Manor are particularly solid, made of stone blocks nearly one meter thick, and it’s not easy to find things underneath those stones, even underwater.

Therefore, the biggest finds by the fishing boats turned out to be above the commoners’ area. After all, the building materials in these areas are generally of lesser quality, and the terrain is relatively flat, making it easy to find a lot of items just by diving down and turning things over.

Although the value of these goods often wasn’t high, small amounts accumulated to a substantial fortune over time.

In two days, there were already thirty or forty fishing boats gathered here. Since the sea territory was quite vast, it didn’t yet feel crowded.

But Sean Knight could foresee that in another two days, either government officials would come to drive away the fishing boats, or another fleet of fishing boats would arrive, further reducing the area that could be searched.

By then, the current brief period of calm would probably be shattered.

For some reason whether the fishing boats were communicating with each other or something else, there were still no fishing boats within roughly 150 meters of Sean’s large yacht.

Nor did any foolish fishing boat dare to provoke the people on the yacht.

Everyone maintained a certain level of tacit understanding.

In the meantime, Blind Guess’s boat would come by twice a day, loaded with a large quantity of goods.

A big freight ship from Big Island had come and gone once, instead of leaving, it just docked near the yacht.

This cargo ship had a capacity of thousands of tons and it wasn’t cost-effective to transport small loads. Sean planned to have the cargo ship leave when he was ready to depart.

"Boss, Blind Guess’s boat has arrived," Douglas Cooper called out to Sean.

"Alright, let’s go have a look," Sean stood up and headed to the deck.

To facilitate the placement of goods, Blind Guess had cleared up many things on the fishing boat’s deck, creating a more spacious area.

But glancing over, Sean realized that there wasn’t much more this time than last.

"Now that there are so many additional fishing boats, how come you’ve only gathered this little today?"

Hearing Sean’s question, Blind Guess replied with a wry smile:

"Mr. Knight, this is getting harder and harder. Seeing me make some money, others have joined in too. One of the fishing boats named Strong Overlord is bigger, offers better prices, and knows a lot of fishermen, so..."

Sean nodded. This was normal. Wherever there was profit, there would naturally be competition; it was impossible for the city ruins to be monopolized by one party—Sean himself never thought to operate that way.

"Mr. Knight, look... I’ll give you all the stuff on the boat," said Blind Guess when Sean remained silent, stepping forward with a hesitant smile:

"Could you possibly... send a few people to drive that guy away? As you know, after he gets the stuff, he has to take it back to the pier to sell. By doing that, he is causing you a loss!"

Sean chuckled, gave him a look, and said:

"I’m not going to meddle in your competition. If you’re capable, then offer those people a higher price. Money, after all, should be something we all earn together. If you’re setting your prices too low, naturally others won’t sell to you."

Blind Guess’s face showed disappointment.

Sean continued to speak:

"Of course, if you feel there’s no profit in selling things to me, then you can do like him and haul your goods back to Port to sell—I won’t object to that either."

Blind Guess quickly replied with a forced laugh:

"Only a fool would do that! Just the diesel fuel for a round trip would cost a fortune!"

As for raising prices, he wouldn’t do that—after all, it was always Sean who made the offer and he decided whether to sell or not. Going back and forth twice a day, and making several thousand dollars, wasn’t that fragrant?

As for Big Head, although it seemed he collected more items, taking them back to the pier would cost time, and once at the pier, where would one find such a generous customer?

Of the goods Blind Guess collected, over sixty percent were sold off, leaving hardly anything behind. How much time did that save?

In contrast, Big Head collected a whole fishing boat’s worth of assorted items. If those were taken back, they would take up space, need sorting, and besides gold and silver and other hard currencies, who really knew what the other items were worth?

How was he supposed to make money then?

Blind Guess felt that in these past days following Sean, he had learned a lot and had become much more discerning in collecting goods. He thought to himself that he really had been wasting so many years!

There were indeed many sunken ships in the Sea Territory of the Philippines. Blind Guess had seen them before, but back then when he encountered them, he would just take some porcelain and look for gold and silver, tossing aside other items that were actually quite valuable.
