Chapter 1458: Chapter 700: The Caring Lana Brown

New Year was still over a month away, but Sean Knight planned to stay here for a while.

Lana Brown usually dealt with the affairs on the island, and she also spent a considerable amount of time inspecting various places on the island. Therefore, she knew Big Island like the back of her hand.

Now, Lana Brown was accompanying Sean Knight at each tourist attraction, as well as some areas that were not open to the public.

"Huh? Douglas?" On the pier, Sean Knight was about to take a yacht out to sea with Lana Brown when he saw Douglas Cooper arguing with his father and mother on the pier.

Upon hearing Sean Knight’s shout, Douglas Cooper turned his head and saw him, a glint of light flashed through his eyes, then he smiled reluctantly and said:

"Hello, boss..."

"So, you’re bringing Uncle and You here for fun?"

"Yes." Douglas Cooper sighed quietly, "With New Year approaching and nothing much to do at home, I thought I’d bring them here for a visit..."

"It’s Mr. Knight!" Father Carter and Mother Carter had met Sean Knight before, and now that they saw him, they immediately approached. Douglas Cooper’s mother greeted him with a smile:

"Our Douglas told us this island belongs to you. Such a big island, you must be so wealthy... Right, his dad?"

As she spoke, she nudged Father Carter, gesturing for him to say a few words.

Father Carter was not fond of speaking, his mouth moved but he didn’t manage to say anything.

Sean Knight asked with a smile:

"Are you planning to go out to sea on the yacht?"

"Yes!" Mother Carter interjected, "All the yachts were rented out... so we thought, look, since you are Douglas’s boss... we’re all family, aren’t we..."

"Then let’s go." Sean Knight smiled, patted Douglas Cooper on the shoulder, "Hop on the yacht, we were just about to head out to sea for a spin."

Sean Knight’s yacht was moored at the pier, not available for rental to others.

Douglas Cooper, not too keen, followed behind Sean Knight, helping his parents aboard.

As the yacht started, Mother Carter looked at the envious expressions of the people on the pier and was extremely proud.

Immediately she thought of something and walked over to Sean Knight to ask:

"Mr. Knight, our Douglas says he won’t be spending New Year At Home. You’ve assigned him a mission... He’s not lying to us, is he? Look, Douglas hasn’t spent Spring Festival with us for several years now, this year..."

Hope flickered in her eyes as she looked at Sean Knight.

Listening to Mother Carter’s words, Sean Knight immediately understood the situation.

By now, Douglas Cooper felt his heart in his throat. His boss couldn’t ruin his plans now!

Sean Knight was generally generous to his subordinates, and if the alma mater requested, he might really consider it.

He definitely didn’t want Sean Knight to give word of granting him leave, as by then it would be too late to recover the situation, so he hurriedly spoke to his mother:

"Mom! What are you talking about? Isn’t my brother there to spend New Year with you guys? I have to work! Anyway, my brother is jobless, staying At Home with you is just perfect..."

"What do you know?" Mother Carter glared at Douglas Cooper, discontented, "Before the New Year, your brother plans to meet a girl, and they’ve heard that you’re brothers, want to meet you, to talk about potential cooperation. Your brother has already agreed... How can it work if you don’t go?

And besides, isn’t New Year supposed to be about family reunions? The country is on holiday too..."

Lana Brown was unaware of the complex relationship between Douglas Cooper and his parents. Just as she was about to speak up to persuade them, Sean Knight wrapped an arm around her waist and smiled at Mother Carter:

"You, this is true. Before New Year, we have an operation that requires Douglas’s participation. You might not be familiar with our line of work, it can make money, but we travel all over the world, and nobody cares if you celebrate the holidays or not.

Since Douglas is under my management, he has to follow my orders. The nature of our work doesn’t pick a time, so please try to understand this!"

Having said that, he no longer paid attention to Father Carter and Mother Carter but walked towards the bow with Lana Brown in his arms.

At that moment, Lana Brown also realized what was going on, her expression a bit strange, but she did not say much.

"Did you hear that, Mom? You may think I’m well-off now, but that’s all on paper! If I don’t work hard, there are plenty of people who would like to have my job!

Our boss has thousands of subordinates, he won’t miss one! If it wasn’t for my early start, would I even get a chance at these money-making jobs?"

Douglas Cooper breathed a sigh of relief, but fearing his mother might come up with another crazy idea, he chided her again:

"If you don’t want to keep receiving money every month, then I’ll just quit!"

"That won’t do!" Mother Carter, upon hearing this, immediately opposed the idea, "If you don’t return, then you don’t. As for your brother... I’ll talk to him. You keep working hard for your boss..."

Douglas Cooper sent ten thousand dollars to his House every month, which in their village was considered a very high Income. Douglas Cooper took care of his own expenses without needing family financial support, and Mother Carter couldn’t be more satisfied.

Of course, people’s desires can grow out of control, otherwise she wouldn’t have agreed to such a ridiculous request as having Douglas accompany his brother on a blind date.

Douglas Cooper roamed around the world with Sean Knight, and with just that sentence, it was apparent the other party had ulterior motives, and he wasn’t about to fall for that!

Having scared his mother, Douglas Cooper finally relaxed.

Since his family was already behaving like this, he would just play along; after all, he wasn’t without places to go.

"Dear, actually, I’ve also learnt some information." Lana Brown said, holding onto Sean Knight at the bow:

"About some Relic. I was thinking of waiting until you were about to leave to tell you, but now with the situation, Douglas... Home..."

"Yeah, just as you guessed." Sean Knight whispered in her ear: "His parents favour his brother, and they squandered the money Douglas sent back Home. Now..."
