Chapter 1407: Chapter 682: The Self-righteous Woman_2
Lingering battles of wits at the counter attracted quite an audience.
The ruby necklace that Sean Knight had just pulled out had already elicited many gasps of astonishment; the sales associate was utterly defeated, nearly losing all face.
She was naturally not pleased.
So at that moment, an idea struck her, and she loudly called out to Sean Knight’s retreating back:
"We specialize primarily in diamonds here, which can’t be compared with gemstones... As everyone knows, ’a diamond is forever’..."
"Haha!" Faced with such a blatant challenge, Sean Knight tended to be very accommodating.
In fact, ever since his worldwide treasure hunt and having amassed a certain degree of wealth, Sean Knight rarely encountered such fools.
After all, at a certain level, the quality of service expected is quite high, and people at this level, whether they are merchants, officials, or service staff, tend to have relatively high emotional intelligence, seldom judging based on appearances or clothing.
But there are always exceptions.
Sean Knight stopped in his tracks, turned around, and pulled out a ring from his pocket.
It too had a diamond the size of a pigeon egg, cut flawlessly. At that moment, the diamond shone brilliantly under the light, dazzling everyone’s eyes!
Instant gasps went up from the crowd!
The diamond was too beautiful!
The sales associate was taken aback as well.
Was this man’s pocket a treasure pouch? Did it contain everything?
If he had everything at his disposal, why would he come here to trouble me?
No, that can’t be right! How could he just casually carry around something so precious in his pocket?
Could it be...
The associate’s eyes lit up, and suddenly she said loudly:
"Displaying a synthetic diamond like it’s special, you Chinese people are really vain!"
This statement ignited Sean Knight’s fury instantly!
When it escalated to the level of ethnic groups, the matter couldn’t be simply laughed off anymore.
At this time, the store manager of the jewelry shop came over—there was no helping it, too many people had gathered.
After whispering a few words with the associate, the manager understood the situation.
Of course, in the sales associate’s narrative, she was the victim, and Sean Knight was both a show-off of wealth and an aggressor.
After that evening, all of Viola’s senses had been greatly heightened. Listening to the counter staff spouting nonsense, she immediately spoke up in disagreement:
"She was the one who provoked the dispute first!"
As she spoke, Viola recounted the events once more.
It was only then that the surrounding onlookers realized that the counter staff was slandering others!
They began to vouch for Viola one by one, causing the sales associate’s face to turn from red to ash, clearly not expecting to have provoked public outrage.
Sean Knight hadn’t expected Viola to stand up for him, and he stepped forward to the store manager, saying:
"Just now, your employee insulted my country! Therefore, I expect you to fire her! Otherwise, I will complain to the Shopping Center, accusing you of instigating a dispute between two nations..."
The manager’s face darkened on the spot.
He hesitated for a moment, then sincerely said:
"Sir, I apologize on her behalf! It’s our poor service attitude..."
Now, had the sales associate simply bowed her head and apologized, the matter could have been settled. After all, Sean Knight wasn’t out for blood; it was a matter of both sides taking a step back.
But, unexpectedly, the sales associate really had a death wish. Seeing the manager apologizing for her made her feel she was losing face, and she muttered under her breath:
"It’s clearly a synthetic diamond..."
The manager’s face darkened.
He had noticed that after his apology, Sean Knight’s attitude had softened, but with that remark from the sales associate, Sean Knight’s face tightened up again!
Well, that settled it.
Sean Knight "slapped" the ring onto the counter and then declared:
"Appraise it! If it’s synthetic, then I’m at fault. But if it’s natural and if you don’t fire her right now, you can close your shop for good!"
The manager had a sharp eye and could instantly tell that this was no Moissanite. Although he was somewhat dissatisfied with Sean Knight’s attitude, he realized his employee was truly courting disaster, and said helplessly:
"Sir, this ring is genuine. Please take it back to avoid any unnecessary damage."
After speaking, he turned to the sales associate and said:
"Pack your things and go home."
The staff at the counter couldn’t believe she was actually being fired!
Sean Knight added:
"I’ll be in the city these next few days. I hope your firing is for real!"
The manager understood that someone who possessed such an item was definitely no ordinary person. Here in Russia, the official corruption was perhaps even worse than that in The South.
So, the manager knew that if he only made a show of firing her, he might really end up unable to continue doing business.
He couldn’t afford to take that risk!
As they left the Shopping Center, Douglas Cooper fended off several hoodlums aiming to approach them as they got into the car and headed to the Hotel.
"Let’s go out again tonight," Sean Knight said to Viola. "After the scene we caused just now, we might attract some unwanted attention."
Viola obediently nodded her head.
In the Hotel, as Viola tried on one outfit after another, Sean Knight watched with a smile.
Viola suddenly remarked:
"I suddenly understand why some of my classmates like to marry Chinese Men."
"Why?"
"Because you Huaxia Men are responsible, spend money on women, don’t drink and hit people, and are also so gentle..."
Alright, Sean Knight’s vanity was truly tickled.
Everyone knew that not all men could be of the same ilk. China had its jerks, like him. Russia also had gentle men, though—okay, it was tough to make comparisons.
