Chapter 1404: Chapter 681: Start a New Round of Treasure Hunt Mode!_2
"Once the municipal registration classifies the castle as privately owned, no one will come to inspect it anymore. Nor will there be any tourists coming."
"Then let’s get registered quickly. We’ve already had two groups of visitors today!" Sean Knight said as he made the phone call, noticing another bus pulling up.
Well, the efficiency of the work here really leaves much to be desired.
After the two buses left, Sean Knight had Elijah Hastings station two team members at the road junction to keep any more vehicles from coming in.
At noon, they had a picnic on the lawn in front of the castle.
A real picnic—with wild deer, wild mushrooms, wild fish, and more. They drank birch sap, completely unadulterated with water, and it tasted fantastic!
They didn’t rest outdoors at night anymore. Though it had been relatively safe the previous night in the tents with the bonfire outside, they still heard the howling of wild animals. The night watchmen mentioned that bears were around.
Given that, everyone stayed in the castle that night—even though it temporarily lacked doors and windows, they could use the plenty of wood around and their tents as blockades. After all, having some kind of barrier was much better.
Sean Knight and Viola were on the second floor, while everyone else was on the first floor. Douglas Cooper joked:
"Boss, they say that an Ice Queen used to reside in this castle; aren’t you afraid she’ll slip into your blankets tonight?"
"Let her come! As long as it’s not a Lizardman, be it the Ice Queen, a fox girl, or a beautiful witch, I welcome them all."
Sean was joking about these creatures, all legendary beings from Russian folklore.
But little did he expect Viola to seem thoughtful after hearing this.
After nightfall, fires were lit on both the first and the second floors; the team members, finding themselves unusually free with nothing much to do, engaged in their own activities, browsing on their mobile phones and making phone calls.
With the satellite phone feature now available and honestly not lacking in money, everyone was quite lively.
Sean Knight wandered around the second floor with that special flashlight in his hand, making it look as bright as daytime.
Viola followed behind, and seeing that it was inconvenient, Sean waved his hand and said:
"You go rest; I’ll walk around myself."
Viola thought to herself, could he actually be hoping to encounter some Ice Queen?
Though she didn’t say it, her eyes conveyed the thought.
Sean Knight saw it and laughed.
This girl still really hadn’t shed her childish temperament.
However, it didn’t matter; he had no intention of explaining.
Viola crawled into her tent in the little room she was in, lying on top of her sleeping bag and staring at the tent ceiling, deep in thought.
Sean Knight then walked to the front of the sealed spatial realm and started examining it carefully.
This space was quite large, about one and a half times the size of those smaller rooms—roughly around nine square meters.
The room didn’t have any residential facilities, and the floor was still very smooth, maintaining its original condition.
Since it was completely sealed off with stone, not even a crack left, the contents inside were quite well-preserved.
The first box that caught Sean’s eye contained several swords and knives.
But these were no ordinary swords; each one, whether the handle or the sheath, was densely inlaid with gemstones and diamonds—there were even more diamonds than gemstones!
The most dazzling one was a sheathed cavalry saber with over thirty hexagonal rubies embedded in the handle—didn’t that feel awkward to hold?
There were even more gemstones on the sheath!
The most valuable item was probably a bear-hunting spear, with two quail egg-sized diamonds embedded at the middle of the shaft!
These were blatantly excessive displays of wealth!
Moreover, there wasn’t a single piece among these cold weapons that wasn’t decorated—apparently, the original owner of these items had an extraordinary abundance of gemstones!
If not for Sky Eye confirming that these items were at least two hundred years old, Sean might have thought these gemstones were plastic imitations.
This box of weapons contained a cavalry saber, two short swords, two short knives, a two-handed greatsword, a bear-hunting spear, and a ceremonial axe staff.
All of them looked extremely extravagant.
Not practical.
Of course, they were Worth money—just this one box of items, those two diamonds alone could sell for more than the castle!
The next box contained something simpler: a collection of irregular golden coins. The lid of the box was open, and the coins were not very neatly arranged; Sean guessed that somebody had probably grabbed a few handfuls, so there was a slight deficit.
Another box contained some gold and silver jewelry, though not much. Sean estimated that when the original owner left, these pieces of jewelry, being relatively easy to carry, were mostly taken along.
And then...
Then Sean got a shock!
The last box had three compartments.
The box was not large, only about thirty by fifty centimeters square, divided into three sections, each about the size of a large book.
Each section was mostly filled with gemstones of various sizes!
The majority were still diamonds!
At that moment, Sean’s thoughts drifted back to the shiny objects he had seen in that small lake during the daytime.
They were also specks of diamonds but were uncut and unpolished rough stones.
The diamonds in this box had been roughly processed, the largest of them the size of a pigeon egg!
Damn, when did these things become so commonplace?
This was three hundred years ago!
Although Sean, being a rather rational science and engineering man, knew that the world had an astonishing number of diamonds, enough for everyone to have several carats, but since the mines were owned by others who weren’t extracting them, ordinary people could only buy the expensive ones.
