Road to becoming the wealthiest: Starting From Treasure Hunting in the Cabinets -
Chapter 138 - 137: Who is wrong? You or me?
Chapter 138: Chapter 137: Who is wrong? You or me?
"My name is Martin." The Latin man took the initiative to greet Sean Knight: "Thanks for helping me kill those damn guys!"
Sean Knight was cleaning up the dead wolves while saying:
"No problem, if it were me, you’d save me too, right?"
Martin hesitated for a moment, and said, "Yes."
Actually, not necessarily.
He knew clearly that his task for Mr. Brown was to monitor Sean Knight, watch if Sean discovered clues, and whether he would embezzle the found treasure.
Even last night, Mr. Brown had called Martin over separately and instructed him that if Sean found diamonds or something along the way, he must mark the location.
At noon when he reported the situation to Mr. Brown, the other side was still asking if there was any harvest on this side.
So all the way, he was using Sean as a target.
However, he didn’t expect the coyotes to attack, and it was not his boss, Mr. Brown, who saved him, but his target, Sean.
Martin’s emotions were complicated.
On the other side, Sean gathered the wolves together and said:
"It’s a pity that I don’t know how to skin animals. These wolf skins look good."
Martin shook his head and said:
"I don’t know how to either."
"In that case, let’s just leave them here. In no time, their companions will come and eat them."
"Where are you from?" Sean asked Martin while eating breakfast. He took a box of self-heating food from his backpack and handed it to Martin. "Eat this, it’s nutritious."
Martin politely took it.
To be honest, the supplies provided by Mr. Brown weren’t that great.
"I’m Colombian. If I do a good job this time, Mr. Brown says he’ll help me get a Green Card."
After finishing their meal and tidying up, the two of them started to get familiar with each other.
After walking about a kilometer, Sean finally found the second trench, or the second line on the map, as he wished.
This trench had basically been leveled. If it weren’t for his Sky Eye, which could see through the dead branches and leaves, no one else could see it.
After all, not everyone has the strength to flip through nearly half a meter of thick branches and leaves all the way.
Sean thought about the distance between the two lines, then looked at the location of Swan Lake. He estimated that it would take another day to reach the lake.
The treasure was near the lake, but he still needed to search for the exact location.
Sean didn’t make a hasty decision, but used his Sky Eye to follow the underground trench for about two kilometers before he truly confirmed it.
Then he adjusted the direction and continued towards Swan Lake.
During lunch, Martin was sitting next to Sean when he called Mr. Brown.
After reporting, Martin said while exchanging food with Sean:
"Mr. Brown found a few more small diamonds at the place where you dug up the diamond. He said your luck is good and asked if you continued digging along the way."
Sean shook his head and said:
"Next time you contact him, tell him I saw a beautiful stone by the little brook and was about to pick it up when I saw the diamond. I haven’t seen any water sources along the way, so I didn’t dig."
Sean could see that Martin was already inclined towards him.
After all, saving his life was much more precious than any Green Card.
After resting for a while, the two continued on their way.
"Andrew Petrov’s group has arrived here." On the road, Martin received information and showed the pad to Sean, "Chelsea is at this position."
Sean took a look, and Andrew Petrov’s group was ahead of them, closer to Swan Lake.
Chelsea had already taken the wrong path, diverting to another direction.
"The area I searched last time didn’t yield any results," Martin pointed to a circled location on the map.
"It’s not the first time you’ve come to search for the treasure?" Sean Knight asked curiously.
"Yes, as far as I know, this is the second time," Martin honestly said, "I don’t know about the previous times."
Sean nodded, it seemed that Mr. Brown had prepared well in advance, and the plan had been going on for a long time. No wonder he wasn’t in a hurry and had the mood to dig for diamonds.
On the third day, the two men arrived at a lake, and Sean was sure this was Swan Lake.
As expected, they saw Andrew Petrov by the lakeside.
Martin waved to the man Mr. Brown sent with Andrew.
The distance between the two sides was more than two hundred meters.
However, to Sean’s surprise, after resting for a while, Andrew and his group continued to move into the forest.
"Why did they leave?" Sean asked curiously.
"This isn’t Swan Lake," Martin said, "The shape of Swan Lake on the map is different. Also, this area was searched last time, and there’s no good place to hide the treasure nearby."
Sean was taken aback. Did he make a mistake?
This lake was indeed small, about several dozen acres in size. Calling it a lake was like calling it a large pond.
Sean took out the map, carefully calculating the position of the two ditches he crossed on the way, and then the position of the lake, he was sure that this should be Swan Lake.
"Let’s camp here today. I’ll take a look around first."
Sean made the decision.
Martin didn’t seem to care. His mission was just to follow Sean, and now Sean didn’t want to move on, so he didn’t either.
The campsite was over two hundred meters away from the lake, on a large tree—this time, Martin learned his lesson and decided to stay in the tree like Sean.
It’s easy for the lakeside to attract animals, after all, it’s a water source.
Sean walked around the lake and found that the source of the lake water was two small streams. One of them was nearly dry, and the other had water, but not much.
He followed the stream with water upstream for a while and found tiny diamonds in the riverbed, which he was not interested in due to their small size.
Martin followed him for a while, feeling disappointed when Sean didn’t start digging.
Sean then went back and followed the almost dry stream, finally discovering something at the end of a nearly dried-up spring.
There used to be a large flat area nearby. Although there were trees near this area, they were younger than the trees further away.
There was a several-acre area with no trees.
Even the grass there was sparse.
Sean used the Sky Eye to see that there had been a village nearby, which had been burned to the ground, and the traces left behind were slowly being buried by the leaves blown by the wind.
However, underneath, there were still remnants of weapon parts and living utensils.
There used to be a village here.
Sean thought that this must be where the war had taken place.
Could it be the Native American tribe that was massacred at that time?
Sean thought that there was a very high probability of a hidden treasure nearby.
It was worth searching the area.
Seeing Sean staring at the vacant land, Martin said:
"Last time, people paid attention to this area too, but after several excavations without finding anything, they gave up."
Indeed, there was nothing under the vacant land, and even a metal detector couldn’t detect anything.
Because it wasn’t here!
So where could it be?
