Chapter 135: Chapter 134: Inviting Trouble

Swan Lake?

Looking at the simple line drawing of a map on the clue, and the only place name marked Swan Lake, Sean Knight felt somewhat regretful.

Is this it?

Is this what to use to find the treasure?

"Take a look at the backside," Brown smiled when he saw Sean’s expression, "The back is a route that my ancestors took before, and the marked points are the places they visited. I believe it will make it easier for you to find."

Sean felt that this seemed more reliable.

"I’ll provide you with a satellite phone. I’ll be at the base waiting for you and possibly join a random team to search. Keep in touch with me if there are any updates."

Brown gestured, and a beautiful maid brought over a box. Sean opened it and found a satellite phone inside.

After taking the box, Sean tested it. The signal was full - of course, this was in the city, he didn’t know how it would be in the wilderness.

"I’ve prepared three spare batteries for you. I believe that should be enough."

Sean was about to take his leave when Brown leisurely added:

"The two teams of treasure hunters are all set. I have rented a plane and plan to set off the day after tomorrow. Is that all right?"

Sean nodded. He naturally had no problem with that.

"Then I won’t hold you up any longer. Hurry up and get ready. I also hope that you will be the one to find my family’s treasure."

Sean and Smith left Brown’s house together, and Sean went on his own to prepare.

Upon returning to the villa, Sean began making a list of things to buy.

Kathy knocked on the study door and, after receiving permission, came in to report:

"Mr. Knight, your account is open now. Here is the checkbook."

Sean took it, looked it over, and kept it.

"I plan to go on a trip soon. Help me keep an eye on the villa and the two farms outside." Sean thought for a moment, "I’ll be back within a month at the latest."

Kathy was worried, knowing that Sean was going treasure hunting, but she couldn’t stop him.

Exploration and treasure hunting are temptations that some men can’t resist.

"Please take care, Mr. Knight," Kathy mustered up the courage to say, "When necessary, make sure to prioritize your safety, even if it means... shooting someone."

For the well-mannered Kathy to say this was already the maximum extent she could go.

Sean nodded.

Once the list was written, Sean went shopping.

Tents, food, seasonings, water, fire-starting tools, various clothes...

A big pile of various items was purchased; some were packed into the backpack for appearances, and the rest were directly put into the spatial realm.

Sean went to the Freight Yard first, found Jason Caldwell, and said:

"You manage the Freight Yard first. Those two will be under you for now. I might be gone for a while, but I should be back within a month. Do the auction once every three days, as I told you."

Jason felt the strong trust and said loudly while patting his chest:

"I will definitely manage this place well!"

Sean called Bondi and the other guy and told them to follow Jason’s orders. They both understood and nodded.

Sean then went to find Mr. John, hoping he could help keep an eye on the freight yard and also called Paul Walker.

Finally, he called Joanna Davis.

Joanna learned that Sean was leaving and immediately ran out from the School.

"Can I go too?" Joanna didn’t want to be separated from Sean at this time.

Sean shook his head:

"I don’t know how much danger there is, so it’s better if you don’t come. But don’t worry, I’ll be with the treasure’s owner, and I’ll be careful then."

Since returning from Mermaid Island, Sean’s physical fitness had improved significantly. He was confident that he could handle several strong men on his own, and his hearing and vision had both enhanced, so he didn’t feel particularly worried about safety issues.

Although Joanna was reluctant to part, she understood. She could accompany Sean to Mermaid Island because it was for leisure.

This time it was professional treasure hunting, and she wouldn’t be of much help if she went. In fact, she might even be a hindrance.

So Joanna didn’t say anything else and just hugged Sean tightly, refusing to let go.

The two spent a day together before Sean sent Joanna to School and then drove off to meet Brown.

Here, Sean saw the other two teams.

One team of three and one team of five people.

Brown, dressed in traveling gear, had two apparently bodyguards by his side.

Seeing that Sean had arrived, Brown introduced him:

"The leader of the five-person team is Andrew Petrov, and the members are Carl, Federman, Hykes, and Thera. The leader of the three-person team is Chelsea, and the members are Hyde and Bob."

Andrew Petrov was a tall, thin man with a goatee and cowboy hat, looking at Sean with a hint of hostility.

Chelsea was a woman in her thirties, with short hair, an ordinary appearance, and very capable. She was dressed in cowboy clothes, and her muscular strength was perceptible.

She nodded at Sean, her expression revealing nothing.

There were two women in the team, besides Chelsea, and Thera, a beautiful white girl, was part of Andrew’s team. She was slightly shorter than Sean and carried a medicine box on her back. She glanced at Sean and expressionlessly turned her head away.

"This is Sean Knight, who has been involved in the last two famous treasure hunts. So don’t underestimate him though he is alone; he is very powerful," Brown said admiringly of Sean, causing discontent among others.

Andrew sneered:

"It’s just good luck, that’s all!"

"Luck is also a part of strength!" Sean knew that he couldn’t back down at this time. He took a step forward and looked straight into Andrew’s eyes, "Finding the treasure is what’s real. So-called professionalism means nothing in front of a real treasure!"

Andrew’s anger welled up, and he was about to step forward when Brown waved his hand:

"Enough, stop talking, and get ready to board the plane!"

In fact, this was the exact effect Brown wanted - if the three teams formed an alliance, wouldn’t he be sidelined?

Boarding the plane one after another, Sean sat alone by the window, placed his backpack properly, and looked outside.

Fastening the seat belt, the plane took off, and once it entered the stratosphere, Sean released the safety belt. Chelsea sat down beside him.

She didn’t bother to hide her intentions and said:

"Let’s team up."

Sean was somewhat surprised. He glanced at Andrew, who was watching them, and asked:

"Why not Andrew?"

"I can’t go with him. He’s too self-centered, and those who have teamed up with him have ended badly. I wouldn’t be asking you if I didn’t have a small team," Chelsea spoke frankly.

Sean shook his head:

"No, I’m used to acting alone."

"Then you’re in trouble," Chelsea looked back at Andrew, "He’s never been a magnanimous person."

"It doesn’t matter, neither am I." Sean wasn’t afraid in the slightest.

He had already felt Andrew’s dissatisfaction towards him—how could Sean not sense the nearly tangible resentment?

But it didn’t matter.

Once they were at the base, he would act alone, and what could the five opponents do to him?

He had already checked, and there were many primitive forests around the location Brown planned to build the base. Sean didn’t think that having five people in the forest would give him any advantage.

Finding the treasure was the key; he wasn’t there to provoke anyone.

Of course, if there was a real conflict, he wouldn’t mind burying a few people in the woods.

Maybe that’s what the other party was thinking too?
