Chapter 1271: Chapter 637: Accidentally Entering the Depths of the Treasure!
When the cars behind followed deeper into the desert, Sean Knight said to Douglas Cooper,
"Find a place with complex terrain, it’s best if there are sand dunes to temporarily block the view from behind!"
No sooner had he spoken than Douglas understood, glanced left and right, and immediately sped towards the sand dunes to the front right.
There were two sand dunes about twenty to thirty meters high, perfect for providing cover for Sean.
"Later, I’ll snipe those cars from under the dune," Sean communicated through the headset to the car behind, where Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington were. "You follow Douglas’s car and keep driving forward, don’t worry about me; I’ll catch up with you."
The car behind did not respond, so Sean took it as their tacit agreement.
The yellow sand kicked up by the car served as a good guide for those cars behind; seeing the vehicle in front slowing down, they immediately planned to encircle it.
During the brief moment the car crossed over the sand dune, with backpack in tow, Sean opened the door, rolled out of the car, and quickly made his way to the top of the dune.
According to Sean’s plan, after Douglas and the others had driven a distance and the dust settled, when the pursuing cars were about to arrive, he’d take out a man-portable rocket from the spatial realm, one for each car—neat and tidy.
However, just as he was about to take the weapon out of the spatial realm, there was noise from behind the sand dune.
"Why did you follow?" Sean turned his head to look, only to find that it was Lincoln!
"Boss, we were worried," said Lincoln, assembling a sniper rifle. As he put it together, he explained to Sean, "Two people are always stronger than one!"
Fine then.
What could Sean say?
After all, they were concerned for his safety.
He took out several large hand grenades from his backpack and placed them in front of him, then silently estimated the distance of those cars.
Soon, the lead car arrived less than twenty meters from the dune, with the other cars not more than a hundred meters behind.
Sean grabbed a large hand grenade, popped the fuse open, and threw it forcefully towards the last car!
The grenade traced a faint parabola, landing precisely on the sandbox in front of the last car; as the vehicle was driving by, the grenade exploded!
With hundreds of fragments from this large grenade and three times the explosive charge of standard grenades, the blast lifted the car into the air!
The blaze and roar of the explosion stunned the drivers of the few cars ahead; two cars instantly swerved to a stop, and several armed personnel got out to investigate.
They were still too inexperienced!
Sean chuckled to himself, then lobbed two more grenades, blowing up the two cars!
At this point, other people noticed the attackers on the dune and immediately began to charge towards them while firing their guns!
By this time, Lincoln, who had finished assembling his sniper rifle, was taking them out one by one, systematically targeting the charging armed personnel.
Sean meanwhile changed locations, using the remaining three hand grenades to deal with the final two cars.
However, the armed personnel on the cars reacted quickly. In the midst of the successive explosions and gunshots, they started to get off their vehicles, using tactical maneuvers to avoid the bullets as they rushed towards the sand dunes!
The armed elements from the five cars, still capable of fighting, numbered more than a dozen. They were smart enough to realize there weren’t many people on the dune, so they spared no ammunition in laying down suppressive fire as they charged!
Sean and Lincoln were pressed down by the barrage with no chance to lift their heads!
Sean knew that if this continued, they would eventually be encircled. He took out more than a dozen hand grenades from his backpack and, without looking, blindly threw them in the direction the bullets were coming from!
A series of explosions disrupted the opponent’s gunfire. Seizing the opportunity, Sean and Lincoln sprinted to the other side of the dune, and after surpassing a slope, they lay down again.
Lincoln set up his rifle quickly, and one of the armed personnel who had just climbed up to where Sean and he had been was immediately headshot.
Sean activated Sky Eye and started cheating with hand grenades.
His grenades seemed inexhaustible, even using them to achieve sniper-like precision—it was unheard of!
As one armed element after another died, the last few got cold feet and turned to flee.
They had been in pursuit, yet here they were, surrounded—and by just two men?
But those few men had apparently run out of luck. Not long after they sprinted away, several crisp gunshots rang out, and they fell onto the sandy ground.
Sean, who was about to give chase, saw the shooter—Elijah Hastings and Douglas Cooper.
Following them was Captain Wang. He was holding a pistol, but he soon picked up appropriate weapons from the bodies of the killed armed personnel.
"Boss, Big Fly, are you okay?" Elijah and Douglas came over, asking with concern.
"We’re fine."
"We’re fine."
"Good to hear," Elijah smiled, "We need to leave quickly."
"Let’s gather some supplies from these cars," suggested Douglas, "Look at this, nice, there are undamaged oil barrels—these can be useful! And the weapons are standard-issue too!"
Sean’s ears twitched, and he suddenly walked over to a body not far from one of the destroyed cars, bent down, and pulled a handheld radio off the corpse.
Conversations in the local language sounded from it, the tone urgent.
