Chapter 126: Chapter 125: Becoming a Banker for Once
Having finished his business, Mr. John asked Sean Knight:
"Will you still participate in container bidding in the future?"
"Of course, this is my expertise!" Sean laughed. "I can’t give it up."
"Okay, let me see... There are two auctions this morning. The first one is almost over, the second one starts in half an hour. Are you going?"
"Yes, I’ll definitely go." Even though just yesterday, Sean had ransacked a pirate’s hideout and made at least tens of millions more than what he made from container bidding.
But Sean didn’t find the few thousand to ten thousand dollars he earned from the container bidding any less valuable.
Similar to how some billionaires would casually go to the Main Street for Lamb Soak Noodles.
Upon arriving at the freight yard, Sean noticed there were hardly two people there. Not recognizing the attendees, he began to check the three containers ready for auction.
Unfortunately, the three containers were filled with used goods and nothing particularly valuable, so Sean turned around and left.
In the past, he needed to maintain his cover, so he had to pretend. But now, with his adequate fortune, he doesn’t need to hide, so pretending is unnecessary.
After thinking about it, Sean decided to visit his own freight yard.
Jason was busy clearing an empty space with his crew.
Seeing Sean, Jason quickly approached him and said without waiting for Sean to ask:
"The owner of these dozens of containers is taking them away tomorrow, so the space will be empty. I thought of cleaning up the area, and once you have some free time, taking us to buy those abandoned containers that we agreed upon."
Sean thought about it and said:
"Let’s go buy them right now!"
"Great, I’ll bring the crew along!" Jason immediately gathered a dozen workers and drove a container truck with them.
Not all freight yard owners like to auction off abandoned containers in their yards, as they are quite particular about it.
If the customs declaration clearly indicates the contents of the abandoned containers, the freight yard owner would sell the items directly.
Most containers auctioned off don’t specify the names and types of goods, or even if they have fallen into the sea, survived a fire, or crashed from a great height. The cargo owners don’t want them, and opening them for sale may result in losses, so they’re put up for auction.
As a result, Jason visited several freight yards and found only seventeen containers. Now the main task was to negotiate the prices.
With Sean’s Sky Eye ability, they bought all seventeen containers from multiple freight yards for a total of 9,100 dollars, a little over 500 dollars per container.
The freight yard owners were also happy because they made back the rent and earned some extra money.
As for what might be found inside the containers, they didn’t care.
By the time the seventeen containers were brought back to the freight yard, it was already afternoon.
Sean pointed to three of the containers and told Jason, "Take these three to the back; I have a use for them. Also, group these containers together, and these ones together. Fourteen containers split into two groups for auction.
I will visit the freight yard tomorrow morning for some advertising and to find an auctioneer. The container bidding will be held here the day after tomorrow— one round in the morning and another in the afternoon."
"Alright." Jason agreed without hesitation.
Sean nodded, Jason was good at following orders without much fuss.
Having glanced at the three containers set aside, Sean saw it was getting late, so he drove back to his villa.
Kathy Lewis had prepared dinner, and after eating, Sean went to his study.
He hadn’t begun researching the documents he’d brought back from the mountain mine last time, so he planned to scan them onto his computer first and then use automated translation to read some of them.
Despite the errors and omissions in online automated translations, it should be easy enough to understand.
If there was nothing secretive in the documents, then he would have a specialized translator take a look. If there were, then he’d have to decipher everything himself.
Sean translated only a few pages of the documents and sighed.
As expected, they were design and manufacturing blueprints for some sort of weapon, which might have been seen as advanced at the time, but was considered outdated today.
Setting the blueprints aside, Sean picked up the notebook that looked like an account book.
The automated translation was amazing. Although the translated grammar order was a bit off, the contents could still be understood. There were items worth over 6 million dollars stored in that treasure room during the 1960s and 1970s.
The latter part of the notebook’s records shocked Sean: could this be real?
It documented six definite locations where treasures left by the Schutzstaffel in European countries were hidden!
It seemed somewhat terrifying to Sean!
He immediately went online and randomly searched for one of the locations, which then showed up.
Sean sighed with relief, but also felt disappointed—there was information on the internet about the treasure being unearthed at the location.
Tons of gold and famous artwork had been dug up.
Sean entered a second location, only to find that the treasure had been dug up there as well.
It seemed unlikely to make a fortune from this.
However, to Sean’s surprise, no related information could be found about the third and fourth locations, while the treasures from the fifth and sixth locations had been excavated.
Having two locations still wasn’t bad.
Although he wasn’t sure whether they’d been excavated without any publicizing or whether anything was even still there, it gave Sean some hope.
The address information given in the notebook wasn’t very exact and could only specify a particular village, but a more precise point would still require verification.
Moreover, the automated translation was not very accurate, so Sean knew that if he were to dig for treasure, there would be a lot of preparatory work to be done.
The good news was that his Sky Eye ability had been further enhanced by the Crystal Skull and could now scan up to ten meters deep into the soil and rock layers, with increasing usage time.
This was indeed some good news.
Thinking about it, Sean took the Crystal Skull out from his spatial realm and placed it on his desk.
Under the light, the Crystal Skull seemed to emit a mysterious fluorescence.
Upon closer inspection, however, nothing could be found.
It was just a transparent crystal.
But Sean knew it was not simple, after all, he had experienced its power himself.
Thinking about the surge of information flooding his mind and seeing the Skull, Sean felt the urge to buy a ticket to South America!
But then he immediately suppressed that thought.
Patting the Crystal Skull, Sean laughed and said:
"Hehe, trying to tempt me? Forget it! You’re just a dead object!"
Having said that, he left the skull on his desk, not caring about it, and went to sleep in his bedroom.
At night, Sean dreamed of a giant flood, followed by crystal skulls emerging one after another, connecting into a huge boat that saved him...
Upon waking up, Sean shook his head.
How absurd!
Shaking his brain, he put the matter aside, went downstairs to have breakfast, and then drove to the freight yard.
He still had important things to do.
