Road to becoming the wealthiest: Starting From Treasure Hunting in the Cabinets
Chapter 123 - 122: Treasure Hunt on Mermaid Island

Chapter 123: Chapter 122: Treasure Hunt on Mermaid Island

Joanna has been staying here for the past few days.

Mainly because of the novelty.

Her father, Robert, also has a lot of assets, but he didn’t buy a villa here.

In her father’s words, money should be spent where it is needed.

Over the weekend, Kathy rented a yacht, and Sean Knight drove Joanna to the port.

The yacht was called the Saint Knight, and the man in charge of driving it was named Tom. He had the same name as the famous cat, but was a strong middle-aged white man.

"I’m pleased to be at your service!" Though Tom was tall and strong, he was very gentle in his speech, "Welcome aboard the Saint Knight."

Tom showed Sean and Joanna around the yacht before setting off.

As for the route, Tom decided, but the destination was specified by Sean.

Seeing that Sean wanted to go to Mermaid Island, Tom asked:

"Mr. Knight, are you going there to look for the pirate treasure?"

Sean was startled!

Tom didn’t wait for him to ask questions and laughed, saying:

"Legend has it that there used to be pirates in that area, and people would search for the pirate treasure there every year.

But nobody has ever found it."

Sean was somewhat disappointed.

Was the treasure map fake?

However, since they rented a yacht, the trip had to go on.

He might as well take it as a genuine fun trip!

With the right mindset, the journey was enjoyable.

Joanna had been to sea before, but it was Sean’s first time. He had to learn everything from Joanna and Tom.

Fortunately, Sean learned quickly. By the time they approached Mermaid Island, Sean had learned not only how to drive a yacht, observe the radar, and dive, but also caught two lobsters in a shallow sea!

"That’s Mermaid Island!"

Tom stopped the yacht and pointed to a very inconspicuous island in the distance.

"There’s nobody there now." Joanna looked through the telescope and said.

"A few days ago, many people went there, and some had metal detectors. But it’s said that there is ore on the island, making metal detectors useless, so eventually fewer people went."

Sean still had a bit of wishful thinking - or rather, most people do have wishful thinking.

What if he found clues that others couldn’t?

What if he was the lucky one?

The yacht was rented for two days, and Sean planned to stay overnight on Mermaid Island.

Tom carefully steered the yacht to the edge of the island.

Luckily, there was once a simple pier here. Although it was abandoned, the water was deep enough to anchor the yacht.

They set up a plank and the three got off the yacht.

Mermaid Island was about the size of a football field with sparse vegetation. The highest point was less than ten meters above sea level. It was unknown if it would be submerged at high tide.

There was sand, stones, and a few small animals running around the coast.

Of course, there was also garbage.

Tom helped them carry the tent, supplies, and tools to the island, then returned to the yacht.

Sean and Joanna had a great time fishing and playing on the island, catching some fish and shrimp along the way. They cooked them with the provided tools.

As they went around the island, Sean activated the Sky Eye. Although there were occasionally rusted knives, boat nails, and the like beneath the island’s surface, there was no treasure.

Sean was a bit disheartened.

Was the map really fake?

But it shouldn’t be since it was hidden so well.

Sitting on the sandy beach, Sean opened the treasure map and carefully examined it.

Comparing it to the map on his mobile phone, he was sure this was the place.

Had the treasure been taken away?

Or was the map itself fake, or just a joke among pirates at that time?

Joanna leaned on Sean’s back, embracing him and looking at the map as well.

She suddenly pointed and said:

"Is this golden coin the hiding place of the treasure? If so, then the black dot below it..."

"The black dot should be the island."

"The golden coin and the black dot didn’t completely overlap..."

Joanna’s words startled everyone!

Sean Knight hugged Joanna impulsively and kissed her passionately!

When Joanna could hardly breathe, he let her go and exclaimed with joy:

"Thanks for reminding me!"

He then looked at the sun and ran towards the other side of the island.

Joanna reminded him from behind:

"Looking at the sun’s position, it’s not that direction!"

"That’s the sun at noon, and now it’s the afternoon!" Sean Knight hurriedly left a sentence and continued running.

Joanna followed leisurely behind him.

On the yacht, Tom looked at the running Sean Knight and sighed:

"Youth is wonderful!"

After a day like this, he was exhausted.

Sean Knight, who had done much more than him, was still full of energy. What a great young man!

Sean Knight arrived at one side of the island, watching the slightly rippling surface of the sea as if lost in thought.

In fact, he was using his Sky Eye to observe the underwater situation.

He had looked at this beach before, and there was nothing unusual.

There were rocks about a dozen meters from the coast.

Beyond that, the Sky Eye couldn’t see anymore.

Joanna came over and asked Sean Knight:

"Did you find anything?"

"Wait here; I plan to dive in and check it out."

"Be careful." Joanna knew that Sean Knight was good at diving, so she didn’t try to stop him.

Sean Knight took off his clothes and walked into the sea.

When he swam more than thirty meters from the coast, where the seawater was just over two meters deep, Sean Knight began using his Sky Eye to survey the seafloor.

Within dozens of meters surrounding him, the sea floor was covered in rocks with no issues.

Sean Knight looked back at Mermaid Island, where Joanna was watching him.

Sean Knight waved at Joanna to assure her that he was all right. He recollected the positioning marked on the map in his mind, moved several tens of meters to the left, and started scanning with Sky Eye again.

Finally, he found something suspicious near a reef!

Although the reef, covered in underwater creatures, looked no different from other reefs, there was a hollow space beneath it leading in the direction of the island!

Sean Knight swam slowly along the hollow towards Mermaid Island for a while, and then Sky Eye lost track of the hollow - it was already too deep underwater for Sky Eye to see through!

It must be that!

Looking at the sea surface, the sun was already leaning westward. In a short while, it would be dark.

However, Sean Knight couldn’t wait any longer. He went ashore, where Joanna approached and asked:

"Is everything all right?"

"Yes." He said, "It might be deep inside, so I’ll go down with an oxygen cylinder and check it out."

Joanna worriedly said:

"It’s getting dark. How about going tomorrow instead?"

Sean Knight waved her off:

"Let’s check it first. I’ll be quick and won’t take too much time."

While talking, Sean Knight went to the supplies area, put on a diving suit, and strapped on a small oxygen cylinder. Tom, standing on the yacht, yelled out a reminder:

"Mr. Knight, don’t go too far when diving! The tide will rise soon, and it’s getting dark. It might be dangerous!"

"I know." Sean Knight waved to him.

Watching Sean Knight leave, Tom muttered to himself:

"Could he really be searching for treasure?"

Unaware of Tom’s thoughts, Sean Knight wore the simple diving suit and went underwater with the oxygen cylinder.

At the reef, he dived down and slowly moved the stones to reveal the opening.

With a diameter of more than a meter, the opening was not tightly sealed. As there was seawater inside, Sean Knight waited for the water to clear up a bit before diving into it.

Seeing Sean Knight disappear under the water, Joanna grew even more worried.
