Chapter 122: Chapter 121: The Annoying Inheritance Tax

Wyon took Sean Knight on a tour of the entire Great River Farm.

"The whole farm covers an area of 1,000 acres, with 600 acres of farmland and orchards, growing wheat, corn, apples, and grapes; 400 acres of pastures, mainly planting hay and raising dairy cows and beef cattle."

"The farm’s net annual income is around five hundred thousand US dollars."

"There are now eight hired workers on the farm, one cook, and one guard..."

Wyon introduced and showed Sean Knight around as they went.

The farmland and ranch management seemed to be well-organized, and at least Sean Knight couldn’t see any issues.

The main building was an old-style three-story building, but it had been recently renovated and the walls were still clean.

There were three warehouses, two sheds, and a row of single-story houses near the main building, forming a cluster of buildings.

"The main building used to be where Mr. Jeremy lived, and then Elson Johnson lived here. We live in the single-story houses..."

Sean Knight entered the main building, and the Sky Eye was activated immediately.

He thought that since that Brad Taylor had bought the farm here, there was no reason not to hide some treasures here.

It’s just that he didn’t know how the farm was bought by Jeremy Knight later.

However, when Sean Knight searched the main building, he found no treasures.

Although there were hidden rooms in the study room and warehouse of the main building, the hidden rooms were empty and had nothing in them.

Sean Knight was disappointed.

He said to Wyon,

"I’ll come to check on this place regularly, and I may stay here for a while if I have time. The management here will remain the same, and you can call me if there’s anything."

The farm was quite large, and at present, Sean Knight only had a brief look at it. He always felt that there must be other secrets on the farm, but now was not the time to carefully search.

Then, they drove to Sea Farm, which was 17 miles away from here.

The current administrator of Sea Farm was also hired by Jeremy Knight when he bought the place, and his name was Howard Kensington, in his forties. Compared to Wyon’s shrewdness, Howard appeared more honest.

Sea Farm was slightly smaller than the Great River Farm, mainly planting fruits and vegetables. From picking to selling, they had established a mature system, and as a result, the profit level was on par with Great River Farm.

However, because the labor intensity here was higher than that of Great River Farm, the wages of workers here were slightly higher.

Sean Knight didn’t make any changes in personnel here, he left his phone number and took away some vegetables and fruits after the "inspection".

When they returned to New York City, it had already turned dark.

First, Sean went to Mrs. Susan’s, telling her that he would leave.

Mrs. Susan was surprised and somewhat unwilling to let go.

But she wasn’t a fussy person and knew that the matter had been decided. She wanted to give back the remaining rent for the month, but Sean Knight refused.

Sean packed up his things, loaded them in the car, and left some vegetables and fruits as gifts before leaving.

When he returned to the villa, Kathy had already prepared a sumptuous meal and Sean found that the villa had already been restored to its original state.

"Everything in the master bedroom has been replaced." Kathy reported during the meal, "If you need to make any adjustments, I’ll do so accordingly."

"Add a computer to the study room, nothing else is needed."

After running around for a day, Sean Knight was tired.

Lying on the big bed in the master bedroom that night, Sean thought to himself, could this be considered enjoying the decadent life of capitalism?

But the cost was huge!

The next day, Sean Knight learned the price he had to pay:

"The total inheritance tax you need to pay is about 35 million dollars..."

Sean Knight was shocked by the figure given by the lawyer!

Was the inheritance tax too high?

"That’s not all! Because Elson used some illegal means to access some of the inheritance, you don’t need to pay for that part temporarily..."

Sean Knight was speechless!

He felt like he hadn’t enjoyed the profits but was left with the troubles!

"Inheritance tax must be paid within six months of the will coming into effect, and there’s less than three months left now..."

"If it’s not paid in full by then, I’m afraid these inheritances will be confiscated."

Sean Knight was at his wit’s end!

Where could he go to earn over 30 million US dollars?

Even if he brought back the 50 million RM he got from selling the Tang Sword, it still wouldn’t be enough!

Clearly, he wouldn’t be able to find that much money in containers in less than three months!

It seemed he had to think of another way!

Kathy was listening by the side, also frowning.

This villa was worth at least 20 million US dollars, she just hoped that Mr. Knight would not sell it.

After the lawyer left, Sean paced around the living room a couple of times, and then, as if determined about something, looked up and asked Kathy:

"Ms. Kathy, if I want to rent a yacht to go out to sea, do you have the right channels here?"

"Yes." Kathy could tell from Sean’s seriousness that he wasn’t planning on playing around, but she didn’t pry further and nodded, "Mr. Jeremy has rented yachts before, and I have the reserved phone number. What kind of configuration do you need?"

"Diving equipment, equipped with a lifeboat, satellite radio, professional drivers..."

Sean hadn’t become so arrogant that he would go looking for pirate treasure with just Joanna, as he couldn’t handle a yacht just yet.

"That’s easy." Kathy could tell that Sean was a novice and nodded, "When do you need it, sir?"

"This weekend?"

After explaining about the yacht, Sean drove out - this time, driving the Ford car Uncle Jeremy Knight had left behind.

It was odd to pick up Joanna in a pickup truck.

Gotta take care of the girl’s feelings, right?

He arrived and called Joanna, and she came out quickly.

"Is this your new car?" Joanna curiously asked as she saw Sean had a different car.

"No, it’s a gift from someone." Sean gentlemanly opened the car door, stood behind it, and bowed:

"Beautiful lady, please get in the car!"

"Hehe!"

Joanna had a small and happy feeling of being pampered as she sat in the car.

Sean started the car and took her to the villa.

He had already informed Kathy before leaving that he would bring his girlfriend back.

Kathy took it very seriously, and when the two of them entered, she displayed a very formal etiquette, which surprised Joanna a bit.

However, Joanna responded very appropriately, making Kathy smile satisfactorily.

After introducing the two of them, Sean led Joanna upstairs.

Before she could ask, Sean briefly explained what had happened, omitting some things he couldn’t say and telling her what he could.

"Wow, your experience has been so tortuous and legendary..."

When Joanna heard it earlier, she was worried about Sean encountering danger, but now that she’d heard the whole story, she felt the magic of his experience.

A hero who’s injured by someone’s trap, yet not discouraged, recovers and fights back to reclaim their property - this story was on par with The Count of Monte Cristo!

And the protagonist of this story was her lover!

Joanna suddenly felt proud.

"How about I take you out to sea this weekend?" Sean took the opportunity to say, "I’ve looked into some old treasure maps, and who knows, we might find some pirate treasure!"

Joanna gladly agreed.

That night, Joanna and Sean had a good romp at the villa.

This made Kathy downstairs sigh, youth is great, they can romp around!
