Chapter 1109: Chapter 582: Suppression of Efficiency from the Military!_3

Sean Knight let go of his hand, feeling that with his guidance, Aria Wilson was now able to absorb energy from the scepters.

The amount was limited to just a little bit at that time.

It wasn’t much, so it wouldn’t impact Aria’s body or the unborn baby inside her.

Aria rested in the King’s Palace, while Sean went to the Hotel.

It wasn’t that Abdullah intentionally wanted to separate them, mainly because Aria’s family wanted to meet with her, and Sean also needed to arrange things for his team members.

After leaving the King’s Palace, Sean asked Elijah Hastings in the car,

"Among the team members we recruited, who was the one with the highest military rank when in the army?"

"An ex-Armored Brigade Commander," said Elijah.

"A Brigade Commander?" Sean was startled, "That’s impossible, isn’t it? That’s a mid-level leadership position, someone with such experience, how could they possibly step down?"

Having spent a lot of time with Elijah, Sean also basically understood that China’s military’s main battalion commanders would normally be promoted to deputy division to division level officials if they do not make major mistakes.

How could such a person leave?

"Ah, it’s a long story," said Elijah, finding it hard to believe as he recounted the incident, "He had just finished leading his battalion through a Superior assessment and was drinking during the celebrations.

Then one of his subordinates reported him—at that time, the army was very strict about controlling drinking..."

Sean found this really hard to understand.

However, as an outsider, he couldn’t judge, but he asked further,

"Even if he was transferred to another job or retired, he wouldn’t come to our company, would he?"

"He chose to find a job freely," Elijah explained. "His wages were about 20000 a month. Now, with his son at university and his wife having her own work,

he had nothing to do, so he handed his salary over to his wife and planned to start a business. He was swindled by one of his former comrades in arms, who took all his retirement funds. Out of frustration, he joined our company and is now training new recruits at the domestic training base."

"Then tell him to see if he wants to continue leading a battalion," Sean said, realizing he was a professional. If he could come here, then wouldn’t what Abdullah wanted to talk about be accomplished?

"Ask if he wants to lead another battalion?" Elijah’s mind hadn’t caught up yet.

"Nevermind, I’ll make the phone call."

Checking the time, Sean calculated that it should be afternoon in China, so he made the phone call.

The unlucky former Colonel and Brigade Commander was David Johnson, who was now thirty-nine years old.

To prevent being mistaken for a swindler, Sean made the call directly to the training base.

"Looking for Commander David Johnson? Who is this?" the young person answering the phone didn’t know who was on the other end.

"I’m Sean Knight... never mind, just transfer the call to Director Hamilton at the base. I’ll speak with him."

The person who had answered the call originally thought Sean might be a swindler, as foreign numbers are usually suspect, but upon hearing his name was Sean Knigh and that he wanted to be connected to the Director at the base, she immediately complied.

"Director Stewart, this is Sean Knight."

"Boss, hello," Hamilton, too, was a veteran who had retired as the Deputy Director of a logistic base and had then been recruited.

"Director Stewart, I need to speak with Commander David Johnson." Since David was serving as the "New Recruits Commander," he was still referred to as Commander Johnson.

"I’ll have him call you," Stewart understood instantly to avoid any misunderstanding.

"Alright, I’ll wait for his call." Sean hung up.

Hamilton ended the call and immediately dialed David Johnson.

"Commander Johnson, your luck is turning," he said.

"What luck?" David, who was inspecting the training situation of the new recruits’ battalions, took the Mobile Phone and found a Bench by the road to sit down, asking in confusion.

"Our boss wants to speak with you," said Hamilton, laughing. "The boss usually just gives direct orders for deployments, but this is the first time he specifically wants contact with you, it must be a really good opportunity!"

"Really?" David was a bit incredulous.

"Trust me," Hamilton continued with a chuckle, "and remember to treat me to a meal later. Alright, I’ll give you the number..."

Not long after, Sean received a phone call from a domestic mobile phone.

"Boss, hello." David’s voice was calm, "This is David Johnson."

"Commander Johnson, hello, I have something I want to consult with you about," said Sean.

He could tell from David’s voice that there was a hint of reserve, but that was to be expected.

After all, he had once been a Brigade Commander in charge of thousands of soldiers. Although he no longer held that position, the temperament couldn’t just disappear overnight.

"Please go ahead, boss."

"I’m planning to set up a Brigade Level Military Unit in the Middle East. We need someone to command it, and you were recommended to me."

"A brigade?" Even though David had been through significant challenges and met with high-ranking officials, he was still startled by Sean’s proposal!

"Yes, a composite brigade," Sean explained his idea briefly, "It should have three Mechanized Infantry Battalions, an Air Defense Battalion, and a Long-range Fire Battalion. As for the presence of other forces, that needs to be decided by whoever puts it together."

"Well..." David swallowed, aware of how potent such a brigade could be, "Boss, you’re not planning to... start a rebellion in the Middle East, are you?"

"Don’t be ridiculous," Sean replied, feeling a mix of amusement and annoyance, "A country here in the Middle East wants our Chinese Military’s help to station troops. But our country can’t just station forces abroad like that, as you probably understand more than I do.

So, they found me and came up with a compromise, to use veterans to form this army, under the banner of the security company I work for."

"I see," David sighed in relief but also felt a twinge of disappointment.

He was shocked by his own thoughts!

Could it be that he harbored thoughts of staging a rebellion abroad?

"I’ve already negotiated with certain domestic units to purchase equipment such as Light Infantry Fighting Vehicles, WS-2 Long-range Rocket Launchers, HQ-9 systems, and more. Basic gear goes without saying; it will be standard issue. I intend for you to come here and be the Brigade Commander. Are you interested in this position?"

"This..." David hesitated.

It was nonsense to say he wasn’t interested.

He’d struggled in the army for twenty years and ended up as a Brigade Commander.

Now, going abroad could make him a legitimate composite brigade commander, fully equipped. How could he not be interested?

But it meant going abroad!
